sabrina had billy joel on her public spotify playlists which we've had access to since 2014. she was raised on classic music since before she was 3 years old. her first ever youtube cover was a taylor swift song when she was no more than 9 years old so she's always been a swiftie. and "you're so vain" was not only a song she's always posted and loved, but in july she revealed that it was on her album inspiration playlist, specifically inspiring her song "vicious". i won't even get into the death threats y'all gave her because you thought she was a blonde who dated a boy with an ex.

i was thinking about sabs lyric of “i should’ve know all along i was only the next one to take your love songs as a promise” kinda correlated with “i guess you didn’t mean what you wrote in that song about me” but also with “you just run to whoever is winning” if you linked it specifically to the drama josh posted both skin and driver’s license to his story, then when deja vu came out he posted that as well but nothing for sabrina. could be a crazy coincidence but 🤷♀️

I have been stanning Sabrina since her first album. And the way she handled the Liv situation..was just so mature. She didnt tear another woman down over a guy. Even in her songs...the lyrics were pure and just reflecting her emotions. If i had to pick a side....id pick Sabrina. People are obsessed with picking sides when humanly things happen...and i dont get why we cant accept some things as just part of life. I dont mean to attack Liv...but my personal opinion is that she kinda did alot of damage to Sabrinas career through not speaking up for her....not just her career...but mental health as well. Fans can be brutal...and if something isnt clear enough theyll make assumptions for themselves. But no. She did whatever to get her music out there. Which i totally respect..cause its her right. I just wish things didnt end up that way. I dont even listen to her music....but i guess they could have been good friends.

I’ve been a fan of Sabrina since I was like five and I adored her music as a kid. I still know every word of every single song off the Eyes Wide Open album. She influenced and inspired my love for music and it’s one of the reasons I’m a singer today. (Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus and Pentatonix also heavily influenced me as well) so no matter what I will always love Sabrina.

I love Olivia Rodrigo’s music but Sabrina Carpenter raised me. It sounds dumb but when I was young her role as Maya Hart felt like the only person I could relate to. I listened religiously to Sarah and Sabrina when eyes wide open first came out and still love her to this day. But the fact that she did absolutely nothing when her fans were giving Sabrina death threats is unforgivable and idk why people think it's okay that she didn't do anything. I really understand Olivia's perspective in the whole situation. It seems like it was her first real heartbreak and that's always a very tough thing for someone to go through. I also think it's a similar situation Taylor went through with "Better than Revenge". I hope Olivia has found the maturity to know that Sabrina likely didn't know the exact story and it wasn't malicious on her part. I still don't get why women always blame each other when the man's the one doing all the talking. Love Sabrina, love Olivia, and ironically love the music that came from the whole situation on both ends.

i don’t understand why some ppl are turning on olivia after all of this blew over. it’s upsetting that sabrina still gets threats over this but i genuinely think both of them have moved on. debating on what olivia should or shouldn’t have done during the situation is pointless because we don’t know what happened behind the scenes and why she was silent, for all we know the people involved sorted it out privately or she apologized personally.

For me, this is vindicating because while I loved the music from all three in this love triangle and enjoyed seeing how Olivia was rising high with driver’s license, the longer she went without making a statement the more I lost respect for her. I still admire her music but I don’t see her as a person with integrity anymore so that’s really soured her for me. I’m glad to see people realizing they were bitches to Sabrina, I can only hope they’ll be just as apologetic to Joshua someday. They deserve that.

It's honestly possible that olivia was advised that saying anything about the situation would just inflame it even more, she was only 18 and didn't exactly plan for the song to blow up the way it did. the only way to really get something to stop in pop culture is to not give it the attention it's asking for. her fans were looking for validation and saying anything they might have twisted it one way or another and pushed it further. she did confirm that the songs were varied not everything was related to the love triangle. the best move they could make at this point i think is to do a collab.

People look past a lot of the most obvious things 1. There are videos of Olivia singing some of the sour songs over a year before they officially came out. 2. Olivia Never shamed or talked bad about Sabrina in the songs. Yes, she said she was jealous of her but she never actually talked down about Sabrina. 3. Neither of the girls ever actually said anything mean or hateful towards eachother only Joshua (WHICH IS HOW IT SHOULD BE) 4. (Maybe more of a hot take) Everyone overshadowed Olivas deep and meaningful songs about her stress and sadness with her songs they thought were about Joshua.

I'm so done with people getting too much into the lyrics and creating a drama. When I first heard "Driver's license", I thought that it's a hearttouching song about a girl's feelings, then I found out there's slowly appearing a drama because people obsess over celebrities' personal life and want to know every detail. Like this whole thing wouldn't happen if people just enjoyed the songs without caring about the characters. The same dumb thing happens with Justin's and Selena's careers. I didn’t really follow the drama. From an outside perspective, it looked like typical teenage/young adult breakup drama that happens a lot. Olivia wrote songs about how she was feeling about the breakup, Sabrina wrote about how she was feeling and her frustrations. That’s what artists do, they use their feelings and experience, a breakup is great songwriting material, especially if it’s a first. Yes, it was all public to a huge audience, but ultimately it didn’t strike me any differently than any other breakup I would’ve seen in highschool or later friend groups. Their feeling are/were real, but ultimately won’t mean much later on. It is what it is and it’s sort of futile taking sides.

Aside from all this petty drama (which started with Drivers License...and to this day I can't believe how many people are so heavily invested in investigating 3 YOUNG people's personal lives, as if they have no lives of their own but OKAY).... MUSIC WISE I prefer Sabrina. She's been in the industry for a longer time and has had more experience with her vocal timbre, which I love. Rock suits Liv so well, but I think she needs to develop more strength in her voice to really bring power (which could come with time, as she gets older - she's still young).

These comments shitting on Olivia Rodrigo for “not saying anything” are the same toxic fans that Sabrina calls out by the way. It’s a huge double standard, because I haven’t seen anyone urge Sabrina to say anything to her fans for now sending hate to Olivia, after now making multiple songs directly towards Olivia. Waiting for the day y’all understand how to blame the fans and not the singer, because by blaming the singer YOU are being the hateful toxic fan who fuels the death threats sent towards them. I don’t think so. It really damaged Sabrina’s reputation and mental health. I think it was normal teenage drama and it got too out of hand because it was in the public eye for millions to see. @@anti_fragile They have different labels. If you're up to date on PR stunts in the past, it's almost always kept within the same label to maximize profits. Also if you know anything about Island Records (Sabrina's label), they don't do shit to promote artists, so I can't really see a possibility of them bothering to make not only a PR stunt, but one in collaboration with another label. Also, Sabrina's such a composed person but this situation fucked her up more than any of us can probably understand. And we know that because she had a mental breakdown on IG live during this time. This is the same girl that's been putting up a happy front and still has been for over 2 years now but Olivia's fans managed to break her. This is real life. Calling this is PR stunt is extremely disrespectful. Olivia not only was the first to talk about the situation (so people already have a narrative against Sabrina and Joshua), but she also got a good label, so it makes sense how they were able to take her songs and market her to teenage girls as the victim in a love triangle. Beyond that, the producer/composer she works with on nearly every song is extremely talented, so no doubt the song's coming out catchy for teens. That's why it's so easily able to blow up. A victim narrative + being the first to talk + teen angst + a good label + a great producer + 2 very public targets to attack = a huge success story. There's really no need to put on tinfoil hats and claim it's all PR.

I have been stanning Sabrina since her first album. And the way she handled the Liv situation..was just so mature. She didnt tear another woman down over a guy. She influenced and inspired my love for music and it’s one of the reasons I’m a singer today. I really understand Olivia's perspective in the whole situation. It seems like it was her first real heartbreak and that's always a very tough thing for someone to go through. I also think it's a similar situation Taylor went through with "Better than Revenge". I hope Olivia has found the maturity to know that Sabrina likely didn't know the exact story and it wasn't malicious on her part. i don’t understand why some ppl are turning on olivia after all of this blew over. it’s upsetting that sabrina still gets threats over this but i genuinely think both of them have moved on. debating on what olivia should or shouldn’t have done during the situation is pointless because we don’t know what happened behind the scenes and why she was silent, for all we know the people involved sorted it out privately or she apologized personally.
For me, this is vindicating because while I loved the music from all three in this love triangle and enjoyed seeing how Olivia was rising high with driver’s license, the longer she went without making a statement the more I lost respect for her. I still admire her music but I don’t see her as a person with integrity anymore so that’s really soured her for me. I’m glad to see people realizing they were bitches to Sabrina, I can only hope they’ll be just as apologetic to Joshua someday. They deserve that.

It's honestly possible that olivia was advised that saying anything about the situation would just inflame it even more, she was only 18 and didn't exactly plan for the song to blow up the way it did. the only way to really get something to stop in pop culture is to not give it the attention it's asking for. her fans were looking for validation and saying anything they might have twisted it one way or another and pushed it further. she did confirm that the songs were varied not everything was related to the love triangle. the best move they could make at this point i think is to do a collab.

I didn’t really follow the drama. From an outside perspective, it looked like typical teenage/young adult breakup drama that happens a lot. Olivia wrote songs about how she was feeling about the breakup, Sabrina wrote about how she was feeling and her frustrations. That’s what artists do, they use their feelings and experience, a breakup is great songwriting material, especially if it’s a first. Yes, it was all public to a huge audience, but ultimately it didn’t strike me any differently than any other breakup I would’ve seen in highschool or later friend groups. Their feeling are/were real, but ultimately won’t mean much later on. It is what it is and it’s sort of futile taking sides.

MUSIC WISE I prefer Sabrina. She's been in the industry for a longer time and has had more experience with her vocal timbre, which I love.
