  • I think it’s unfair that when a woman filed for divorce it’s “Yes girl leave him you can do better” but if a man isn’t happy and decides to divorce a woman it’s “How could you do that?” Men should be allowed to leave if they’re unhappy

  • I can so relate to Gary about being emotionally checked out. I wanted to divorce my children's father after they graduated high school and turned 18, but I became extremely depressed and divorced their father when my oldest was 13 and my daughter was 11. Waiting for the children to get older was a mistake. I should have done it when they were toddlers because the marriage had already expired. Children tend to take side of the one who didn't file. What children don't understand is that they will never know their mother or their father as a spouse, only as a mother and or a father. So Mr. Owen, hang in there. Hopefully they'll remember how you are as dad and provider.

    • I totally agree, I divorced my first wife with no kids involved, but the last argument she tried to start she screamed at me that she hated me, and my response was basically "I don't care, go be mad in another room." Understanding that I felt indifferent was the last straw. I got my ducks in a row and told her I was ready to be done. We used the same lawyer in the divorce, settled everything civilly and here we are almost 13 yrs later and I'm in a happy marriage with 2 kids.

    • gotta disagree, my children know how we are as spouses towards each other. Example I started new hours and my son at the time 13 called me out and said dad why don't you take mom on date night anymore? why don't you bring in flowers or peacock feathers anymore what he didn't understand was when I worked everything's is closed when it's open I slept so I started getting up early when I realized his point. it's all in effort and if both yall can be grown and not fall into lust then marriage works but if you don't both do it then I say that person needs to grow up. exception on abuse.

Had someone follow his wife 24/7 to end up serving her in a public drive thru. That’s gotta be embarrassing. You can’t talk to your ex because of court so I’m assuming even if you were able to talk to your kids you can’t really “talk” to them either because you’re so scared of the court process. Meanwhile while all this going on it gets out you took up Wendy Williams on an offer for a date.. that had to be the knockout blow. Wendy Williams??? Remember media and social site opinions aren't real world and second I think everybody can attest to the fact that men usually suffer in silence and I say that to say this. People will say that cause they may think oh he was fine why now and it'll seem like oh he wants bitches or maybe he doesn't want responsibility when in all honesty he's been hurting for a long time and could never speak or just never spoke on it. Women tend to let you know at the first moment of unhappiness and not always verbally will they let you know that's why the narrative is different not saying it's right but ya

  • I think it's so important for a mother to not inject their pain from a split into their children. When I divorced my ex due to his cheating ways, I ensured that my children knew they were loved and that they could still love their father. I make sure they check on him, celebrate his birthday, father's day, and all other holidays either with him or at least with a phone call. He's always been there for them and I wasn't going to dismiss or allow them to dismiss him from their lives bc of my pain. Kenya is going to have to help mend the relationships, not for her or Gary but for the children's sake. Even though they are adults, they still need and deserve healthy parental relationships. It was tough, I wanted to tell my kids how he hurt me, what a dog he was, and honestly a small bit of me wanted them to hate him, but no good would come from that. I love my children far more than I could ever hate their dad. Besides, I picked him and I never want my children to suffer from my bad choice. Divorce is hard, parenting is harder, and forgiveness is hardest. I chose to forgive and love my family. Never would I want my ex but he's my family, 16 year together said so. My children hear me pray for him bc I love them and I know they love him. I'm raising black women and it's important that they know how to function past hurt and through pain. They will know they can get through anything bc momma did.

He cheated & decided to leave before she left him. Also, he had someone follow Kenya to serve her at a public drive-thru. What kinda bullsh1t is that?! He also keeps insinuating that she cheated, then says she didn't. I won't touch on other things, but his adult kids aren't talking to him. So there's NO WAY the mom "poisoned" them against him. They grew up in front of him when he was around & seemed to be close. They don't even want his money & no adult would turn that down unless he did something really horrible, especially to them, the "kids". So clearly they know something & so do the other people who talk about him. He takes no responsibility at all for what he did. The guys asked him reasonable questions & he goes back & forth with the answers. Guy should left ages ago. The youngest is only 20/ 21, so the others would've still been adults anyways.

  • I know a couple that spoke to me separately after their divorce. They had been married for 25 years at the time of their divorce filing . I wanted to know why now… they both said if you see people getting divorced after 20 + years they’ve been miserable for the last 10 years. The wife said she was holding it together for the kids until they graduated high school. Both of them weren’t happy. Gary Owen said he’d rather be happy than be in a toxic relationship. I appreciate modeling the best behavior one can, and sometimes the split is healthiest for the two trying to make it work. Nobody can judge why feelings change between people but the choices on how to move forward is where intent is demonstrated. Best wishes from the adult child of this situation, things can work out or not, depending on decisions made, taking the opportunities to show love and post divorce devotion.
