  • The solar panel bounce (1:00) is incredibly dangerous as there isn’t much of a gap between the two, you can’t count your strides properly, meaning there’s a 99.9% chance you’ll fall off or have a refusal or anything along them lines.

    • @@joe7965”the horse deserved to be whipped”??? Ok animal abuser. Ever think maybe the horse just found the obstacle too difficult or wasn’t given enough time to read it properly, and stopped out of self preservation? So you think horses should be beaten for trying to save themselves from a bad fall? It’s not like the horse was misbehaving or acting out on purpose. It’s people like you who should have NOTHING to do with horses

  • I will never understand riders whose horses badly crash through a fence and by the grace of God they manage to not fall off and yet they immediately take off at a gallop again without even checking to see that their horse is ok. That's not ok.

    • Because the sport has become about WINNING...and entertaining the public..with spectacular wrecks.....not about horses and riders skills and safety. We no longer breed and sell horses to upper level eventers.

    • Nonsense. Eventing has been UTTERLY homogenized. These fences-unlike in prior decades-have frangible pins. Meaning THESE FENCES COME DOWN and just as readily as showjumping fences. The FEI radically modified the “endurance phase” in response to exhaustion deaths and the ensuing public outcry. Today’s 4-5 star cross country is little more than long-form show jumping with trees. Unfortunately, all this adjustment has truly engendered is a lowering of standards. Horses and riders competing at 4 and 5 star levels today would NEVER have made the cut 20 years ago. More horses and riders are getting hurt (even dead) today because they are not being properly tested up the ranks. I think we’re not long from the days one might catch-ride a cross country round as routinely as an AO Hunter round. Eventing is supposed to be hard. It’s supposed to be a REAL TEST of horsemanship. My feeling is that by dumbing it down, the FEI has only made it less testing and MORE dangerous.

  • The bounce jumps coming down a hill is terrible on the course designers part. There shouldn’t be bounces that big and wide period. Having it coming off of a hill when the horses already have that much momentum is just stupid and insanely dangerous 😢

    • If you are not capable of that question, then you shouldn’t enter or think you can ride at that level. Badminton is a true 5*. Or from what i’ve seen of so called 5* elsewhere, they should be downgraded or Badminton upgraded. Sadly WC and Olympic competitions are run over 3* courses to give the less able nations a chance. Which turns a great sport into a dressage competition.

  • Some truly disgusting riders and riding going on here. Mollie Summerland (UK) stands out in particular but is by no means alone although whipping a frightened horse is about a bad as it gets. When a horse falls almost breaking its neck riders try to scramble back up to continue what kind of lack of animal welfare is this. Horses that fall should be instantly disqualified. Let's end eventing once and for all. Tired of seeing horses injuring themselves during extremely traumatic falls. Obviously inventing cannot improve its animal welfare record, the obastacles are no safer than they've ever been. Let riders throw themselves off a cliff see how that turns out but leave the horse alone.

  • Falls and refusals are your clear sign that what you are making a horse do is something he is not naturally supposed to do and it is WRONG. I have owned and trained horses for 45 years and this is the most cruel thing you can do to a horse because it is not natural things a horse would do unless they had NO CHOICE ! Which is what this is they are forced to do this. But that does not even cross your selfish minds. What goes on during training behind the scenes in these high end money making stables is sad to watch. I have seen it first hand. Not all are in this category because there are some that do this for fun at lower level shows that the horse can easily do but alot of these so called high level trainers are only concerned about is prestige and money.😡 If the horse can no longer perform due to injuries that this event causes, they are thrown away like trash by these so called horseman or bred so they can mess up another animal. I have seen this too!!! It makes me and many other horse people sick . More than you know. HOrses are God's creation and God knows what you do and you will have to answer to God in the end.
