An MIT environmental engineering undergraduate from Jamaica uses his personal story to advocate for sustainable development to be integrated into core curriculums. He focuses on the need for institutions at the forefront of innovation, especially MIT, to integrate sustainable development into at least their undergraduate core curriculums to further bridge the gap between innovation and sustainability. This integration should be done for many degree programs, including the most popular ones, similarly to how math, natural sciences, communication and programming have been made essential to their curriculums. Far more students need to be better equipped with the skills, knowledge and experiences essential for building a more just and sustainable world.
