During the training process to become a Certified Business Model Canvas Trainer/Facilitator by Alex Osterwalder's Strategyzer Program, Matt Terrell of Founders Films/Vision Creations was asked to provide an example of an innovative company using the Business Model Canvas. Gore Fabrics was selected and this is their story. Terrell is one of three Americans and one of thirty international Certified Business Model Canvas Trainer/Facilitators.
Thanks for sharing! We've been using the Business Model Canvas for the past couple of years and it has improved the way we do businesses and how we approached new opportunities.
Thank you! You explained it perfectly!
That was quick straight to the point. It rocked.
Thank you! Helped me understanding what this is. Wish me luck with my exam
Thank you for educating me.
Awesome video. Thank you!
thank you for the perfect explanation
Thanks for sharing!
THANK YOU SO SO SO SO VERY MUCH. You taught me sooooo much in less than 8 minutes
Thanks for the explanation, that helps
thanks for sharing this video, it helps a lot to understand the model
Matt Terrell's explanation of the BMC is thorough and clear to understand. I want to throw out a question, is there a way for the BMC to deal with major upheavals in the selling of a product? For example, a key partner pulls out. Could there be a way to modify it to reflect a company at different stages of the business cycle.
Thanks for sharing.
Nice work. Very helpful. Thanks
Great stuff (thumbs up)
So...when i have all the model full how can i validate if my idea its good or not? Thanks!
Thank you so much Matt. This is an interesting and creative way to present the Biz Model Canvas in an easy to understand format. Thanks a million
thanks
He does kind of sound like Will Ferrell lol. He also did an amazing job. Clear and insightful. Thumbs up!
Brilliant
Well explained
Hi, how are the papers sticking to the board? I'd like to follow the exact procedure for one of my business idea.
Looks like some form of static-based bonding
I'm curious, how was the BMC wall poster that is shown in the video created and how does the paper stick to it (static cling?). Is it available for purchase somewhere? I teach entrepreneurship at the high school level and would love to have one of these for instruction.
The BMC poster is laminated and the notes are from Stattys. Connect with Mikki Mannila of Stattys Notes www.stattys.com/products/stattys-notes.html
I am actually curious about the materials of the board and the cards you add. They don't appear to be post it notes? I really want to duplicate that board!
The cards are from Mikko Mannila of Stattys (www.stattys.com/products/stattys-notes.html) & the board is a laminated BMC.
I am making a business model of how I can promote my products by putting flex on trucks, buses. I have to give a presentation on this, can you tell me how can I explain it. Will it include the same procedure you did in the video or something else.
Good Job
good video
Can you please tell us what is written underneath the 9 Headings (Key partners, key activities and so on) on the board. It will be very helpful please.
+Alex Khan Thanks for your note. The separate questions beneath each of the 9 blocks are listed in these links: www.businessmodelgeneration.com/canvas/bmc hbr.org/2013/05/a-better-way-to-think-about-yo/
+Alex Khan Thanks for your feedback. You can download the detailed questions beneath each of the 9 blocks at this link: businessmodelgeneration.com/canvas/bmc?_ga=1.3619696.1150782503.1454543725
Nice video thanks for explaining the canvas to me, now can you explain to me how you would explain the canvas to say an investor in under 10 minutes.
+Mason Stoneypoint , probably just like shown in the video? ;-)
+Mason Stoneypoint Thanks for your note. When introducing founders to angels, I often suggest sharing the Canvas so that everyone is referencing the same tool to outline the vision of the opportunity. One example is: kzhead.info/sun/htehl9CAe32Hdps/bejne.html
engineers look like ninjas?! jk, thanks, this is well explained
meta7 Haha!
Dude sounds like Will Ferrell
Peter Steinbrenner Frank the Tank video coming soon
+FoundersFilms 100 likes on this comment and you do it. Deal?
Will Ferrell... Mat Terrell... Coincidence? I think not.
How come the military isn't listed in the customer segments? Why are none of the resources listed in the cost structre? Resources aren't for free either. I feel like this model is very superficial.
Thanks for your feedback. I agree the Military should have been included in the Customer Segment and it should not have been an 'orphan' note without a corresponding note. Secondly, the Resources represented in the Cost Structure include the Manufacturing of ePTFE, Engineers/Associates of the Lattice Culture and B2C Marketing costs highlighting the IP technology.
The real explanation starts at the minute 7:37
Griselda Mueller Haha clickbait.
Mirá a la cámara! Look at the camera!
Skip to kzhead.info/sun/epWleKeIapmKhJs/bejne.html#t=1m15s , because everything before that is "Matt Terrell by Matt Terrell". Also, like nearly every other explanation of the Business Model Canvas, no reason why the "canvas" wouldn't work just as well as a list. He doesn't even really go into the "Infra, Offering, Customers, Finance grouping", which is fairly weak to begin with. More hype than power here, I feel. I guess the business boys saw the developers with their cool Post-It boards and figured they needed one too...
ok
This is so uselessly academic. Great for a test, horrible for real entrepreneurs
what would you have liked to see? Thank you :)
