Lyrics:
I used to pray when I was sixteen
If I didn’t make it then I’d probably make my wrist bleed
Not to mislead turn my nightmares into big dreams
Whole squad mobbin even though we only six deep
I was singing notes while my niggas played with six keys
Walking in the snow before I ever made my wrist freeze
I was blowing smoke had me dizzy like Gillespie
Niggas had no homes we were living in the dead streets
You couldn’t find me like I’m Hoffa
Cover girls jumping out the page like they pop ups
Spending all my money on these niggas that I brought up
Taking care of families for my brothers when they are locked up
And I had nothing to believe in
Double cup leanin
Couldn’t even breathe and
For that money I was fiending
Cali was the mission but now a nigga leaving
Leaving, leaving into the night
Now a nigga leaving, leaving
leaving into the night oh
She like my futuristic sounds in the new spaceship
Futuristic sex give her Phillip K dick
She never need a man, she what a man need
So I could keep on falling for her daily
We was at Coachella going brazy
Stack a couple M’s like I was shady
Now I’m in Tribeca like I’m Jay-Z
Rockin Sorayama like he pay me
I just signed a new deal with Mercedes
Got me movin dirty like I’m Swayze
All my diamonds dancing like they Swayze
All my diamonds hitting like they Swae Lee
Jet so big got a business and a coach
I was always on the road rockin Louis a la mode nigga
And for that money I was fiending
Cali was the mission but now a nigga leaving
Leaving, leaving into the night
Now a nigga leaving, leaving
leaving into the night oh
20 mill mansion never lived in
Zero edge pool never dipped in it
Superstar neighbor in my business
Paparazzi tryna catch me sleepin and
Going on tour is my vacation
Every month another accusation
Only thing I’m phobic of is failing
I was never blessed with any patience
So a nigga leaving, leaving into the night
Now a nigga leaving, leaving
leaving into the night oh

  • Snowchild is a montage of The Weeknd's life through all his albums. It starts with After hours Abel "tripping down the memory lane" at 0:09 . House of Balloons era. The city of Toronto is cold and lonely as the only people in the city we can see are him and his friends. He is very sad in his house of balloons and we can see in 0:39 his life is "upside down" but is "turning around." Kissland era: He is in Japan and things went from colorless to colorful. He's got fame and money but is still hollow from the inside. He uses alcohol, drugs and sex to cope and meets the muse from kissland along the way who just "drags him down" at 1:07 . Beauty Behind the Madness: At 1:17 the elevator has odd numbers only and the dial going backwards could mean he is just falling more and more in odd ways. At 1:26 we see people who have "lost their heads" and are "stuck in Hollywood " until they "disappear/die." He meets the devil here as in BBtm. Starboy era: 1:45 his house is dark but there is light outside. Basically he is in a dark place emotionally. He enters a hidden corner of his house/mind. Here finds women, assuming his love interests, who want to hurt him. He wants to run away but can't. He realizes he fight his inner demons and starts to believe in himself. He literally " double crosses" his demons at 2:36 . This, however, shatters his house/mind. My Dear Melancholy era: He is aimlessly wondering around and fast traveling everywhere. He is "burning money" at 2:58 just to keep himself warm or to feel anything. After Hours era: 3:11 He simply crashes from doing all these and now is all alone or "deserted" in life. Disoriented Abel is glad to be close to Vegas/happiness but it's actually far away. This doesn't stop as he keeps moving on until he reaches Vegas and he's all worn out at 3:55 at this point. But he does all this only to "find himself" completely "Heartless" at 4:07 .

  • Maybe it's a stretch, but I love how this video connects all the eras together. We see a younger Abel in the Toronto house of balloons before all the fame; Kiss Land Abel gets pulled under by the dark, mysterious world; the depiction of the devil that Abel shot in Tell Your Friends appears before he walks to his Hills house, the changed man that has made a deal for fame; the attention from BBTM follows into the Starboy era where Abel is attacked and ends up going on the run; this flows nicely into MDM with the Call Out My Name video; and finally Abel's bruised, and beaten After Hours self begins, cue the madness of Heartless...

Starboy: MANIA & Starboy 5: My Dear Melancholy: Call out my name 6. After Hours: Heartless and a title reference to the video itself aka Snowchild.

  • So this is literally evolution of The Weeknd albums in the clip. ▪️ He was living broke in his town. ▪️Then, he released mixtapes *Trilogy* , on 0:35 u can see balloons which is *House of Balloons* apparently. ▪️Then, he went popular and ended up in *Kiss Land* on 0:46. ▪️Then, he went to his mansion in *The hills* on 1:23, and that's *BBTM* (though I'm unsure what these headless suits and the white creepy guy meant). ▪️In the mansion, on 2:02, he fought pantheras with cross swords like the one he had in *Starboy* . ▪️Then, he turned into bats on 2:42 like those in *Call Out My Name* which is *My Dear Melancholy* . ▪️And finally, on 3:07, it brought him in the desert, the same he was in the end of *Until I Bleed Out* clip, which is *After Hours* of all he went through. Duh.

  • Its a very insightful glimpse into the struggle with fame and the music industry. It changed his life in many ways. He lost family and friends due to succeeding in the music industry. Each time he changes he encounters a new problem. All the separate albums reflecting how he has changed. The first section shows how hes leaving behind his friends and family. The part where the women turn into panthers could represent how the women hes encountered in his life are vicious animals to him. The section where hes wearing all black could show how cold hes become and shows him burning his money and talking about the "2 million dollar" home he doesnt visit. Its all empty to him now. The money, fame, and material items no longer bring him any joy. The last section he has basically become "heartless" to all of it. Turning to struggles with drugs as a way to escape the pain of his fame. To maybe find meaning in all of the events in his life.

  • I think the video symbolizes Abel's feelings and life as he goes through his career too. In the opening, he's living in Toronto while hanging out with people who he only sort of fits in with, evidenced by the lack of detail on the faces of the other group members. He releases his first album around the same time and gets popular enough to leave on vacation. While in "Japan", he releases another album and is dragged into corporate Hollywood hell by strippers and drugs. The headless guys in black suits represents how cutthroat the industry is. They got to the top, but are stuck in contracts and have been replaced by the other clones also wearing the same suits. The guy partially represents the CEO's of the big Hollywood record companies, but also is another clone of the previous characters. When he transitions into Abel, it represents that Abel is now becoming one of the leaders in the music industry, but also representsthat Abel will soon be trapped just like the others (Note how each "person" in that scene is wearing the same outfit). Abel moves into a mansion as a result of signing his contract, and releases Starboy. This is when the Panthers, who represent his love life and his friends who are leaving him and/or attacking him for his money, (symbolized by the fact that they look like friendly women, then become pouncing predators) appear and are defeated by Abel (he's moved on). However, the glass, which represents his mental state, shatters, leaving him alone and trying to rebuild with a bunch of money yet no mental strength. When he burns the money in a barrel, it represents Abel throwing money away in an attempt to be happy again, yet in reality he's just wasting it for a few moments of light (essentially spending a bunch on drugs in order to be happy). He hits rock bottom in the desert, but sees Toronto in the distance. He thinks he is headed home and starts walking in hope that he can get back to his normal life. However, the landscape shifts to Vegas, showing that Abel is trapped in Hollywood like the headless guys before. He can't escape unless he takes a bunch of drugs to make things glamorous.

  • He started with his back on the ground (00:02) and shining lights up ahead (00:05). He went towards it, but he found himself in a House of Balloons (00:19) (Trilogy). He got seduced by a prostitute in an alleyway (00:59) (Kiss Land). She took him to hell (Hollywood) where the devil worked people's souls and got rid of them afterwards (01:27) (BBTM). But there were also lots of good stuffs, big houses (01:37) and hot girls (02:07) but demons underneath the facade, he got to the height of it all inside the house, fought his demons with a cross (02:36) (Starboy). He made it out but he was alone, cold and alone (02:59). Also he had wings and he could fly (Bats from Call Out My Name - MDM). But he couldn't control them. Eventually the wings dropped him back where it all started, on the ground (03:11) with the dream of blinding lights still ahead (03:36) (After Hours). When he looked closer, however, the light was gone (03:46). He was disappointed but he kept going. In the end he finally found what he had been looking for all along - himself. (04:02)
