How to make a garden fountain in a day/ DIY japanese water feature

Hi everyone and welcome to my channel, today I'll share how to make a garden fountain. I continue making a Japanese garden and I've decided to make a bamboo water feature with a hypertufa vessel, it was fun and easy to make, hope you'll like it!
I used similar solar powered pump for making the fountain:
amzn.to/3QuxTr4
It doesn't charge and works only when sun is shining on the battery.
This one has a bigger battery so may be useful if you need to deliver water higher than me: amzn.to/3zICRuw
Here is the vessel you can use for bottom vessel (here they have a set of 2): amzn.to/3OsBT9X
It was a bit hard to find a bamboo pole online, here is the 4-pack of a suitable diameter: amzn.to/3OmqFDD
This is the link to the video where I made hypertufa vessels: • Making hypertufa plant...

  • I've seen quite a few DIY fountain ideas here on KZhead. Tbh, they're pretty much all ugly or way too expensive and require way too much skill/labor. But this one I like.

  • Yay! Finally! A woman who uses power tools, makes awesome things, AND- doesnt talk about nothing on and on forever! I love how you explain what youre doing during the project without a bunch of unneccessary blah blah! Makes your videos very pleasant to watch! Thank you!

    • While I agree with you on seeing a woman use power tools, unfortunately, the way she used them was extremely dangerous.

  • It was really nice of him to cut the chicken wire for you. I've dealt with the stuff before, and the tiny pieces of wire can very easily fly up and stick you. I've never worked with it and not gotten cut at least once.

  • Great feature, try to avoid gripping a work piece with one hand and using power tools with the other it’s asking for trouble.

    • I think a lot of do-it-yourselfers have at it without the benefit of a shop class or safety instruction. "What can go wrong will go wrong"--words to live by! Some others--stop when you're tired. Remove all jewelry. Don't wear loose clothing and tie back hair. My old friend got her hair in the drill and it wasn't pretty!

    • And you should always grind "downwards" , the disc shall cut itself down, the "back-kick" you got cutting the Rebar where when you did the opposite, pulled the disc upwards to the material.... I have the scars to prove things can go wrong 🤕

  • Drilling: Please never hold anything that you are drilling. The drill bit can skip and cut your hand. I had to go to the emergency room this summer and get three stitches in my palm because I did that. I wish I could attach a picture. The hole the drill bit made in my palm looked like spaghetti twirled. I didn’t want to stop to go get something to clamp what I was drilling. I will from now on! Your projects are amazing, and I love this little fountain. Will probably make one myself after a few other projects are completed. Best wishes to you and your husband.

  • I love your fountain, I agree with a lady on here saying you should have made a trap door to service the pump and clear debris, love the location you choose as well. AWESOME job.

    @KatheleenWaters@KatheleenWaters Жыл бұрын
  • Your fountain is fabulous and something that anyone can build themselves. I have one suggestion, which is to create a trap door in your poultry wire by cutting a hole and placing a larger piece of poultry wire on top before you add your cobblestone. That way you can service your pump, clear out any debris or replace the pump if it quits. I do recommend pumps that turn themselves off if the water runs dry. I love your water feature and your great way of showing people how you built it, and the way that you custom cut the bamboo. Nicely done!

  • Nice job.nJust a pointer for the next time. The first cloth was the one to use. But rather than putting on top of the bucket it should be placed in the hole and brought up the sides and extended over the edges. Then the vessel put into the hole. The extended edges get covered up with rock to disguise. This way the dirt at the sides and surrounding can't enter the bottom vessel. You can also position cobbles around the lower vessel to stabilize it in the hole.

I am in the process of constructing a large japanese garden of about 800m2. I have several smaller ones, for which I can share photos. More of these videos, please!!!
