I love this so much--it was super epic to watch! The battle was really well-balanced between intensity and humor, and the whole time I was afraid the golem was going to end up sacrificing his life to kill the ravager. The animation feels so loose and expressive and natural, and all the added bits like the ancient drawings in the beginning and the celebratory party at the end all made the village feel more real and friendly, like a society actually existing.

I agree with your decision to change to 2D. While there's many amazing 3D animations out there, I think 3D is too common nowadays and your brand new 2D style breathes new life into the minecraft community and offers something unique which I enjoyed a lot. Amazing animation and the Iron Golem seems like such a humble friend. Keep up the great work!

Thanks! I used blender for both episodes, although this one specifically uses the 'grease pencil' feature. Part 3 will hopefully see a little more of a mix between 3D and 2D animation.

do you plan on getting voice actors for future golem animations or do you prefer to voice the characters yourself?
For the time being, I'll probably continue to voice the smaller side roles as the script tends to jump around a bit during production, and its easier for me to simply re-record the lines. As the episodes get more ambitious, I could definitely consider hiring actual voice actors though

Thanks! The aim was to separate this series from other minecraft animations by blending my own art style with the blocky look of the game. Future episodes will stay mostly consistent with this one though, so the style change was a one-time thing
I made the idea up that they came from the frosty biomes given their grey skin

Why did you decide to switch to 2D animation?
Mostly to distinguish this series from other Minecraft animations, and to give it a unique visual style! The stylized designs were a lot of fun to work with too, and they fit in alongside my other videos a little better
