Todd Howard was very clear. Fallout 5 will come out at some point in time between ESVI and the heat death of the universe. I appreciate the clarification to "after ESVI", I was worried time might reverse direction and Fallout 5 would release in 2008.

I think that in one of Kellog's flashbacks in FO4, it's mentioned on the radio that San Francisco was indeed annexed by the NCR.
From what I remember there’s no indication of it being annexed by the NCR, actually it seems like it was still independent at least from the dialogue we see, Kellogg moved to San Fran to escape the NCR and work for the Shi and he only left after his wife and daughter were murdered.
No, you're thinking of the sequence in his childhood where the radio announcer mentions the Hub voting to join the NCR.

I think when Todd was like, "It might not be right after ES6." I think he believed that Starfield would be bigger than what it is, and he would be planning to drop the sequel before Fo5.
I ask two things of Bethesda: 1. Don’t do New York. It’s too similar Boston in terms of environment and culture. 2. Don’t canonize one of the endings for New Vegas, unless they either set the game decades down the road or Vegas is just glassed off-screen.
Also, from non-US perspective, the FO3 setting in Washington is too similar to New York/Boston/The Pitt.. Dense urban areas with heavy bombing... I highly think/hope they'll go anywhere else that hasn't been already seen and played in the games. Making game "some time later" is just so dumb as it would have to include SO much of the stuff previous games that it would be limiting. The questions like "Where is X? What happened to X? X should be in the game, he/she lived here! Why didn't X affect this?!" would be endless and extremely annoying. So, Bay Area is out, imo. There are still locations not used like the deep south, US/annexed-Canadian border, north-west US, Rockies... Why limit on areas already seen!? New place, new plot, player making new story with their choises... That's what i want.
Too late for number 2, they made the NCR ending cannon and a conflict between them and BOS in the tv show, you know how Todd likes to butcher the lore whenever he sees fit
@@joemedina4731 The cannon ending for New Vegas is The Legion wins the battle for Hoover dam... but the way the narrative of the story goes the cannon ending is irrelevant.
@@alaric_ I agree one hundred percent. There is so much more of America and it's frustrating that the focus has to he locked into just two general locations. But honestly, this is an issue bigger than just Fallout. Most mainstream media set in America is stuck in New York/LA. We have such a limited perspective of our own country. And on a side note, I know the Fallout series is so deeply rooted in American culture, but it would really be nice to have something that gives us more insight into what has happened outside of the country. It would definitely need to be delegated to a spinoff title or DLC, but I'd love to see a Fallout story in China or Europe.
IMO the canon ending to New Vegas is siding with House. Putting aside the fact that he's by far the best choice, it just makes the most sense that the courier as a character wouldn't betray the man who saved their life.
Having the next game take place close by to the show makes sense. The game would get "free" pre-production from the show and as the Bethesda studios haven't touched the west coast the show could act as a way for them to set some things up
me personally, i'm hoping fallout 5 could take place in the midwest, having a nuclear winter setting instead of another desert would be interesting. i even thought of an idea of having it take place in the Twin Cities in Minnesota (St.Paul and Minneapolis) and they could be called the Twin Wastelands.
100% I think this is the direction we need
Love the Twin Cities idea! I've always thought Fallout Chicago would be a cool setting as well.
I might be misremembering something, but I thought there was an unspoken consensus that Bethesda would only delve into the east coast
@@charles0396no that’s just fan nonsense. San Francisco was one of the few potential locations for fallout 5. Obsidian added a line in New Vegas saying that after the events of fallout 2 the Enclave had nuked the city believing that they had assisted in the destruction of the oil rig. Bethesda had asked them to remove it because they wanted to keep the possibility of returning to San Francisco open for a future game.
Having grown up in Michigan, I loved the idea of a Midwest setting for Fallout, and the series desperately needs representation outside of just the West and East coast. Having a game set in the Detroit area and spilling over to Ontario for some direct insight into prewar annexed Canada could be interesting. But it is fairly obvious the next game will be set in San Fransisco.

I'm a game developer currently in the industry, trust me, a 1 page design document is not where you sort out the major factions, a rough outline of the story etc. A 1 page design document is where you start to talk about designing a game, things like setting, mechanics all that stuff is in a idea form. "We should set it in london so that the game world stands out from pereviouse titles," on the 1 page design doc might lead them to setting the game in africa or australia and the london aspect might be forgotten, or maybe they become confident in the radical new design direction and need to bring it back to a more fimilure eastern US so that the game still feels like fallout and the main thing on the 1 page ends up irevelent 1 month into development.
You've been doing this for years and you never know what's going on 😂

Personally I would like to see Bethesda get out of this "east/west coast" mindset and do something new like Chicago, Kansas City, Minneapolis etc. But I guess I understand why they might not, there is already a ton of lore from the east and west coast, but the Midwest is a blank slate.

Hi! Just wanted to ask what mod is the revolver that appears in this video for example at 10:05? Thanks guys!
I don't know what the mod is but it looks like a quite normal .44 magnum revolver so maybe if you search for something like that you will find it.

Starfield broke me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Would be interesting for Fallout 5 to be set earlier in the timeline so you can meet a younger Kellogg.
I want a fallout set in london where vault-tec wasn't available so people end up turning the london underground into a giant make-shift vault system. (Or shortly before the bombs dropped another company stepped in and quickly made their own vaults down there) It would be cool because I am pretty sure the tunnels were used for shelter in WW2 so it would make sense for them to be used again. EDIT: Obviously the big london mod is coming for fallout 4 but I want it to be made official lol.
While waiting for Fallout 5 Try Fallout London that releases in 1 month. it looks to be the best fallout game yet, and its not made by bethesda🤣
It'd be pretty interesting to see a Fallout game that spans over multiple states. They could do this in the Midwest with states like Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana. It'd even be pretty interesting if they improved upon the weather systems to include more severe weathers like Rad Tornadoes.
I just don’t see how it would be possible to travel that far efficiently or effectively without car transportation. Not even horse would make a multi state option super viable
But of individual states those would all be fun, especially the tornados
Mr Juicehead, ive got a quick question... uh... how do you get your mods? And if im think its Nexusmods how do you get them to work? Whenever i have mods from nexus plugged into fallout they dont load at all. Just curious, thanks.
firstly i do not recommend you use the Nexus as anything more than a database to hop into. you want to download Mod Organizer 2, it's a Skyrim Mod Organizer but it also works wonders with Fallout New Vegas modding. as for modding Fallout 4, i couldnt tell you how to get into that one, Fallout 3 modding is kinda pointless when New Vegas and A Tale of Two Wastelands makes modding 3 obsolete.

As far as we know, the Calculator and various factions in tactics aren't canon.
Fallout 5 might be waiting for the Fallout show series so a lore tie-in might be in mind.
I would be cool if they did a regional based Fallout game. As in the main games are East and West coast stories. With an over all big story, while the side game would start with one region like New Orleans, and can expand to other regions, like NYC, etc.
I think it’s weird that they don’t release a fallout game at the same time as the tv show.

FEV, otherwise. Think of the FEV locations! So ,no rural America for a Vault placement, but some rocky terrain is a must .
FO5 in san fran would be a massive dissapointment. There are so many other places in the US, all of them explored, that are more interesting. Plus, if you want to see what a post-apocalyptic San Francisco would look like, just go to modern-day San Francisco.
Give it to Obsidian, they should make a new Fallout
They absolutely should not. They have done worse in making RPGs than Bethesda has. Obsidian hasn't made a good open world action-RPG in a decade. If the Outer Worlds 2 is a good game, then maybe.
My dad is a massive Elder Scrolls and Fallout fan. He and I have literally BONDED over these games. He's in his mid, pushing late 60's. At the rate things are going, I'm so scared he won't live long enough to see TES 6 or Fallout 5.

I don't even understand why it even takes 10 years to make, where does the quality go? with Red Dead Redemption 2 or GTA5, you absolutely see the quality, every mechanic in those games are top notch but with Bethesda, it's not like they've learned anything or from anyone other then being wholly reliant on the modders for ideas and fixes. Even with Starfield there's absolutely nothing compelling or identifiable to that universe and even the updates come out at a sluggish pace.
Bethesda needs to leave the West Coast alone and let obsidian have that.
“Short while later” = “15 years from now”
Fallout: New Orleans would be so much fun
Nothings going on with FO5. Bethesda is still trying to make Starfield.
The concrete wall behind the door at 11:55 so goofy Bethesda😂😂
I swear that the minutemen ending was Canon, it saves the Railroad AND the Brotherhood so all factions Except for the Institute are still explorable and interactable
Every new fallout game introduces a new setting with new tone and world building. 3 gave us what was essentially a barren wasteland set in the capital, then New Vegas gave us the western theme, then 4 gave us a bit more of a pre war Americana theme, then 76 was more of the wilderness. I think 5, wherever it is set, needs to explore a new genre and setting. For that reason I think it would be great to see it set in either southern Florida by the ocean, New Orleans bayou, or someplace tropical like Hawaii.
I dont trust bethesda to make good games anymore.
Why? Everything that Bethesda has released in the last 30 years has been a commercial success. Objectively everything they’ve released is very positively received. Let's get back to this once the Elder Scrolls VI is released in 2034.
At that rate Fallout 5 will come out in 2044.
10-15 years between titles is a dead franchise.
eh but gta is a live franchise still and it’s been what, 12 years
Helldivers 2 came out over 10 years later too
You'll buy it
Tell that to GTA
@@ClassifiedKiller20 it WILL be mediocre, calling it.
i bet bethesda will have to work on fallout 5 if they see how many fans will play the fallout london mod that releases very close to the fallout show ...
So wait... The airship isn't the prydwin in the tv show? I thought it was, making one ending from fallout 4 moot.
Two locations i would like to see, either california (with NCR and Brotherhood taking centre stage and seeing the return of the Enclave) or NEW VEGAS
Something to look forward to in a decade
I’ve been hoping to see a diamond city like location on the Golden Gate Bridge for years now
I think the show will be around Fallout 1 or 2 in the timeline, the California flag had 1 head and the armor wasnt marked yet
Todd never said "next" when he first said "after ES 6". They are trying to leave the possibility of (for example) a Starfield 2 in between. But people have mixed feelings there, so that's unlikely. It's much more likely that FO5 will be next.
7:00 that board is freakin out man!
Thanks for the video telling everyone Fallout 5 is not coming out anyone anytime soon. I was actually hoping that the great news was that Bethesda had finally decided to give the ISP to someone that would do it justice, instead of jacking the fans around.
The tv show is going to be resetting canon moving forward I'm guessing. It's no surprise that the BOS is pushed heavily as it's the most marketable faction money wise. Expect power armor skins galore for sale and this face opening thingy to play a part in power armor sales as well as the Iron Man thrusting knock off shown in the show.
I have an idea. Let Larian make Fallout 5.
What mic do you have?
it's either San Francisco, New Orleans, or New York. San Francisco has to be probably the formation of the NCR as it's completely overtaken by the NCR and recivilized by the time New Vegas rolls around. New Orleans because many have been wondering what's going on in the Midwest and there's something about the enclave near by. New York cause NY.
Bartle of Anchorage and the Moon should be a DLC for Fallout 4
I’ve wondered if the “fallout 5” in question could be another obsidian fallout since and it’s just being referred to as “fallout 5”
