TalkTV's Kevin O'Sullivan and Alex Phillips slam Prince Harry and Meghan Markle being photographed with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness at a film premiere.
Mr Holness is pushing ahead with plans to make Jamaica a republic.
He told the now-Prince and Princess of Wales during their 2022 tour to the Caribbean that his country is “moving on” and intends to “fulfil our true ambitions and destiny as an independent, developed, prosperous country”.
The Sussexes’ appearance came as Harry’s father, the King, prepares to undergo hospital treatment for an enlarged prostate, and Kate remains in hospital after abdominal surgery.

The poverty is immense in all of those Caribbean countries except for the lucky few. My sister lived with her very rich husband in the Bahamas as tax refugees 🤢. She was very lonely. No one to make friends with in their league because the super rich bring everything & everyone with them when they were visiting including their friends so no need to make more. It was also VERY expensive to live there to the point where if they went back to Canada or the US (she’s Australian) during hurricane season they’d buy nuts and other things like that to take back with them. One day a Bishop was stabbed to death just at an ATM at the bottom of their hill. Jamaica is MUCH more poor than the Bahamas and I fear what will happen to the people. Cyprus became independent in 1962 & has been in civil war since & there are other horror stories like Zimbabwe and others who end up with violent dictators. I can’t think right now because it’s bedtime here.

Yep. Canadian here. Another very important observation from north of the US border. Republics are not all they are cracked up to be with politicians planning four years ahead only. There is a calmness and oversight somehow with monarchy that you just don’t see in Republics. When times are good no matter what side of politics you are on and you have decent leadership, it is good. But when it starts yo-yoing back-and-forth and people get sooo polarized and all the propaganda and vitriol is at play, no work is getting done. And I don’t trust any of them… Politicians with an eye for their careers only do not look out for the best of the nation anymore. Just to get to that level they are often beholden to different power holders. So no thanks to a Republic. I like the Democratic monarchy better. Any even then we have very self-serving, shortsighted politicians who are corrupt!
