Weight safe hitches are complete junk!! I’ll prove it and send you an email address to send you a video
I think this weigh safe hitch is a fantastic idea, but most manufacturers require a weight distribution hitch on any towing of over 5000 lbs and 500 lbs tongue weight. Does weigh safe make a wdh so a person could legally tow over 5000 lbs?
No one will buy this for towing...they'll buy it because it's badass!
And can still tow double Seadoo's/Skidoo's !!
I would buy this because it's effectively a sports car for cities with shit roads that can do truck things. That said, if I had a truck or any vehicle that could tow, I would get a fold up trailer for my motorcycle. Not that I am buying this.
My Ranger Limited 3.0 diesel V6 makes 442 lb-ft at 1750 RPM! Also tow rating is 7000 lbs. I think we in Brazil got all the right versions of the Ranger available, including a 2.0 Diesel work truck and the 3.0 Raptor.
Does Brazil mandate DPF and DEF?
@@YAOZYVIDEO yes
@@hanstubben we got one extra too the 2.7 V6 gas out of the F150 for the Ranger that will be interesting to see how it performs.
I am certain that Ranger pulled the load up faster than the subaru would empty.
I'm certain the ranger raptor is for girls or small children😢
@@PKOv Why's that?
@@PKOv Machines do not make you more or less of a man.
@@PKOv👈👈 👆👆👆👆👆 Small PeePee
Well considering they always go up the hill at the exact same speed when they do the test the timing part makes no sense
That Subaru Brat probably had it's fastest 0-60 run ever (even though it was on a trailer)!
By far. Unless it was once on a faster trailer.
It does deserves a paint job and get rid of that ugly camper shell
I’ll bet they will find under the seat a black leather vest, billfold with a chain on it, and some motorcycle boots🙄
@@jimmycline4778i know, that bed liner crap ruined that poor old Subaru! I don't even know how you'd strip that stuff off, it's pretty much destroyed, unless aircraft stripper or something else can remove it.
The trailer connector is located "down under ".😅
The shocks will not help with squat. The shocks are designed for control. It can help with drive ability.

RIP, to that $65k Tacoma TRD Pro💀 The off-road performance metrics just aren’t there for the TRD compared to this. (On top of that the electric hybrid 4cyl platform has yet to prove itself in Toyota’s mid size truck platform) The Ranger Raptors are out now & can actually be had at MSRP if you search.
Probably helps that it's a more off road focused version of the world wide ranger which is a tad bit smaller than the US ranger.
Toyota is out of pocket with the price on the Taco.
With the TRD Pro's listing for 65k and after you add a dealer markup, you're looking at 70-75k. Compared to the TRD Pro, the Ranger Raptor looks like a bargain.
Not being a Tacoma fanboy, I completely agree. But I also bet that they sell plenty of Pros, maybe even more than the Raptor. It'll be interesting to see the final numbers after a full year of sales for both. My prediction? The ZR2 wins between the three.
Yep Toyota should of skipped the 5k front seats
Ford nailed it with this truck. Great job gents! FYI - whatever you did for audio in this video wasn't nearly as good as usual.
They recorded it on a Nokia.
Ford missed it hard. Their dealers want 100k for this ranger. 20 years ago, a ranger was 10k.
@AncientRe 1. What the dealers do has zero to do with Ford nor can they truly control it. 2. 20 years ago my grocery bill was $500/mth, now I spend over $500/week. The American peoples desire to have the government support every aspect of life had fueled inflation for decades. We are where we are.
@@AncientRe Yeah. I miss that. There are just a lot more people with a LOT of money now than back then.
@AncientRe there is a waiting list for these around the world, unsure what they missed. Also are you suggesting this should be 10grand?
learned a lot about mics from this episode
Toyota is out of pocket with pricing on the Tacoma. Think they'll lose market share to the Ranger, Colorado/Canyon, Frontier? They seem like much better value to me.
Completely agree. GM and Ford have drastically improved their midsize trucks at a more affordable price. Compared to the Tacoma anyway. There's no way Toyota can justify the price jump over the others.
Don't underestimate the mouth breather Toyota fans. They will brag about inadequacies as features to your face. It's wild.
Toyota fan girls are INSANE.
I agree. I bought a 23 Tacoma TRD double cab, 6’ bed with the premium and technology pkgs. The MSRP was $51,848, (I paid $48K). To replace my truck this year is $67K. My income hasn’t increased by almost $20K this year. Eventually people will stop buying new vehicles and keep rebuilding their own vehicles. We were downsizing from 2 and a pickup, to a car and a truck, so that’s why we bought the Tacoma for me.
The Ranger was top dog in sales for almost 20 years, could happen again...
I've been using weigh safe hitches for years... highly recommend! Great products! Also rear suspension bracketry is extremely thick...very beefy. Trailer wiring probably won't fit in bumper because of extra large spare... possibly?
" Yes, we are selling our Brat, and mostly sad about it." 🤣
Truck Tuesday!
The RR checks so many boxes. It does many things very well. Little compromises with this truck. And the size is perfect for difficult tight trails. I’ve had mine for a bit more than a year (Mexico) and I couldn’t be happier.
☕Time For The Ike Gauntlet 👏👏. Have a good Tuesday ☕
🖐
I really wish you did this with a travel trailer, the aero drag would be the thing I am most interested in.
Another outstanding towing review by Andrey and Mr. Truck. I'm very impressed with the new Ranger Raptor. Yes, all trucks are expensive today but the RR is priced much better than the two top of the line Tacoma Toyota offerings. Plus much more HP. The Weigh Safe hitch with built in gauge looks like a great idea.
Thanks
This truck is a beast. For the cash it has the most value. My current 2023 F-150 will eventually be replaced with a Raptor. I prefer midsize trucks anyway.
With the TRD Pro's listing for 65k, and after you add a dealer markup, you're looking at 70-75k. Compared to the TRD Pro, the Ranger Raptor looks like a bargain. The way Toyota priced the TRD Pro opens it up to a lot of competition, not only from the midsize trucks, but a nicely appointed fullsize like the new Ram Power Wagon.
I just picked up a loaded w/moonroof/window tint/paint protection/wheel locks 2024 Colorado ZR2 for the $53k MSRP. 95hp down on the Ranger Raptor, but equal in every other way AND a much better approach angle for about $6k less and that's BEFORE the "Raptor Markup". I'll take the savings and put 34's on it (don't want bigger because that would force the spare into the bed) and buy some parts for it.
Let’s not forget the ZR2 that even cheaper than the RR 😎
@@R32vdubb LOT cheaper, about $6k, and that's BEFORE the typically absurd dealer markups.
You should be measuring the bump stops on all tow videos that way we know the true clearance you have left for articulation. I'm glad you did it on this one. 👍
They started that because the New Tacoma was on the bump stops when they did the multiple truck test a few weeks ago
Can you do a video on the topic of pickup truck interior sound levels?
Yesterday, there was an hour delay on Westbound I-70 because a semi tractor trailer caught on fire and had to use the emergency truck ramp.
Shock adjustment won’t affect squat. The shock will adjust the dampening to that point, but the spring rate is what will control how much it squats.
Always good to see Mr. Truck on the video. Nice looking truck and I am not a big ford fan. Too bad the tow electric is located down under when there is room for it up north. Nice video gentlemen, good to see you together, would love to see the off camera comments.
Thanks
Sorry guys, this isn’t the first ranger raptor in the United States. A guy in DC was doing reviews for about 3 weeks before you guys got your truck.
Love Andre. Fun vid
Loved the Midsize truck showdown videos, was wondering if we could get a video comparing how useful the beds actually are in each truck and pushing them to their individual limits. Kind of like the one you guys did with the Maverick awhile back hauling logs in the mountains
Great video yall 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed
Thanks
I have a couple of weighsafe hitches. Top notch quality. Very easy to adjust and you can have the same key for the hitch adjustment and the pin.
actually very few, if anywhere puts the lighting sockets for trailers in the bumper. almost everywhere puts them under the bumper on the actual towbar bracket. it makes sense as not every vehicle sold worldwise has a towbar, and there are many different types of hitch systems available in different countries. Where i live we dont have that 'receiver' set up at all.
I'm surprised that you guys haven't invested in a couple of large water tanks so you could scale all your loads out to be exactly the max towing for all the trucks you test.
Mr. Truck has tanks and they have used them.
I didn't know Cy, from Duck Dynasty, that his kid was a regular guest on TFL. So cool!
I don't know why but as a Toyota fan, I am quite excited in that new Ranger... The Lariat 2.7 V6 is now available as of today too, for an extra $2200.
XLT 2.7 also available !!
@@arkhsm Oh yeah! I forgot about that trim! The XLT fully loaded is still $5K less than the Lariat and has cloth seats! No vinyl seats like Toyota is trying to push.
I want to see the 2.7 go up with a 7000 pound travel trailer behind it Andre.
We will do it soon!
@@TFLtruck I’ve always wondered, where is Andre originally from?
@@R_Tower: Russia
@@R_Tower He is originally from his Mother.
Get It!
The F150 front suspension does not have dedicated bump stops either. They are part of the coilover which is why its not necessarily a huge deal to run leveling spacers. The bump stop will still function to protect the shock.
WRT vehicle "squat." Concern for anyone that has towed at night is headlight adjustment. Ford's owner's manual states: "Your vehicle has a dynamic leveling system. The headlamps do not require additional aim adjustment." Good to know for the sake of oncoming traffic. Of interest is a optional Ford extended warranty: 150,000 miles, UNLIMITED time and up to 10 year pro-rate cost return, $100 deductible.
So, how much would that ford extended warranty cost?
@@pathunter7003 $3,500 quoted to me. Expensive, yes, but most warranties are. With all the electronics on vehicles today, the cost to repair, and many reports of techs being unable to repair these problems, this seems worth considereing.
Why not use the same trailer and trailer load as the previous mid size 5 truck Ike towing video?
I think Ford should have put the 3.5L Ecoboost motor in the American Ranger Raptor. That would be a beast of a truck.
Can we get a ranger raptor vs Colorado zr2 vs Tacoma turd pro Ike gauntlet please??
😂
The 2.7L in the Colorado is not making its full 430 ft-lbs of torque at high elevation. Look at how andres did the ike in the last test. It was spinning almost 4000 rpm the whole way. I test drove one here in Utah at elevation and it felt like a turd down low And yet this 3.0 Ranger that weights 5-600 lbs more and has larger tires is spinning almost 1000 rpm less even though they are rated for the same torque.
@Jay-me7gw The Rangers lower rpms are due to it being a V6 twin turbo vs. the Colorado I4 single turbo, which needs to spin faster to produce the same torque or horsepower.
@@lenhammer1 What? The colorado is rated at 430 ft-lbs at 3000 rpm. If its rated for 430 ft-lbs @ 3000 rpm it should make 430 ft-lbs @ 3000 rpm regardless of what engine it has. If it does not make 430 ft-lbs at 3000 rpm then GM should be correcting their published ratings. The Ranger is rated for 430 ft-lbs at 3250 RPM and its clearly making the torque that they claim it does at the rpm they claim it does.
@@Jay-me7gw I guess chevrolet is lying, they also claim max horsepower at 5600, when the redline is 5500?🤔also the specs I got from motor trend for the ranger claims 430lb-ft @ 3500 rpms, so a chassis dyno of both trucks may reveal inconsistencies in claimed horsepower and torque.
John Elway had a really big grill, too. 5 superbowl appearances worth
You should track average boost and avg throttle position sensor.
I test drove a '24 Lariat FX4 the other day and it was super nice. Currently have a '21 Lariat Tremor, and it was night and day. I'm ordering a 2.7 lariat the moment they become available. Raptor is just way too much truck and money for me.
they are ready to order now
Need to make sure you test the 2.7L Ranger once they're out.
Love the channel guys! Considering buying a 2024 gmc canyon or Colorado, do they require premium fuel and synthetic oil ? What’s your opinion on this, thanks !
I’ll show you what a six-year-old weight safe looks like, ended up buying a gen-y I just could not trust the weight safe any longer. And the warranty sucks.
The aluminum “stretches” when towing heavy. I’ll never own another aluminum hitch. But I was towing a dump trailer with gravel so it weighed 11.5k total.
You have to select the trailer as the active trailer 🤫🤫🤫🤫
Mr truck was messing with that phone at the end too much. Like he accidentally stopped the clock and started it again. Might have been 8 minutes and 6 seconds. 🤣🤣🤣
Traffic held them up near the top though !!
@@arkhsm oh yeah I see.
Great video and impressive truck. I would like to see you guys hook up the safety breakaway for the brakes properly though, it should be hooked to a different solid point on the truck than what the chains are hooked to, if that trailer rips off that whole receiver hitch than the trailer brakes will not apply. I see people do this all the time, it defeats the purpose.
I think ford has the lead on the mid size trucks now. Better price and better specs. However I don’t know if sales are going to be bigger than tacos
Taco Bell and TFL to finish my day. What a great end of my day.😊
Thank you. That means a lot.
Can we get the hitch in Canada? I'm certainly interested
The sync 4a is the same as lightning, and it shares the same software bug as the f150 lightning
Would it get better mileage with the exhaust fully open with no restriction?
WAY better truck than the TRD PRO, plus it’s cheaper. No truck that costs this much should have an annoying 4 cylinder.
8:14 How do you get the truck to stay in 4th gear?
It should have a save button to name the trailer and any time you hook to that trailer and put it’s name it should have you set up in it memory or if not they need to flash the computer to have this info so if you have 3-4 trailers you just enter it’s name and it sets all of it’s info !
I personally tow alot larger/heavier loads with my 2020 fx4 with the 2.3 and it doesn't skip a beat
Makes me wonder if, while in Tow Mode, and kept in AWD, if the braking number would change, and if the MPG would change as well. I have a suspicion that both numbers might be lower in AWD.
RWD is gonna be more efficient. If you don't need 4WD, might as well save a few bucks.
After you guys have had the full sized vs Ranger Raptor, do you think the Ranger Raptor is the better all around pick for daily use and some camping?
I wish you guys also had the diesel 3L V6 Ranger to test like in South Africa and Austrailia
Is that the same "Lion" 3.0L V6 that was once available in the F-150?
We don't get cool midsize trucks in the States 😔

Why couldn't they at least offered this truck with the 5.0? Bet they sell a ton of them.
manufacturers are all downsizing engines.
Although I agree, I also think among a sea of top trim 4cyl turbo midsizers this V6 twin turbo is a welcome addition.
@@engineer_alv The point is alot of us just dont want a turbo anything in our trucks. It's just that simple.
Yep, just a big v-6, I-5, v-8. That's why I searched for a month to find a used 2012 Coyote V-8 F-150.
Why would they offer a 5.0, they don’t sell many of them in the f150 even
"the 1st one" ? I would like to see proof of that claim. I know at least 1 other that has one and has been driving it around. In fact, there is a video showing the "FIRST" one being delivered (if you can believe that claim w/out proof) to a dealer in the USA 1 month ago and it was a Grey color.
But that’s thing it doesn’t have a lot of wheel travel the Tacoma TRD off road not the pro but just the off road has more suspension flex in the rear
not a surprised there is a glitch in the infotainment screen.
Springs are more important than shocks for rear squat.
All due respect to Mr. Truck but where the hell is David?

If the trailer weighs 50% or more than the tow vehicle, it should have a weight distribution hitch for the best towing experience.

I would like to know the design engineer reason why the trailer plugs are not in the bumper. Must have had a brain cramp😅
id guess apart from spare wheel location, the fact that im not aware of anywhere outside of North America that has them in the bumper. as the Towbar is usually a factory option (not standard) or aftermarket fitment thing, and different areas have different specs for the sockets, it makes more sense to just make the socket bracket attach to the actual metalwork of the bracket. that way theres no bumper holes that wouldnt be used and the part is cheaper as its standardised
@@petelattimer6808 so they're spending a dime to save a nickle. Gotcha. They're going going to get a ton of complaints, especially after a owner has to tow something ( snowmobile trailer) during the winter.
