f corrin gets given a real character in heirs of fate and is actually a decent character 300 hours into the story, and actually experiences character development. That’s still terrible but it’s not quite as terrible as F byleth

Why the hell are people getting genuinely upset over this. We know damn well that they'll probably win next year if they lose this year. I think its the fact that we will eventually get a gatekeeper just from him possible getting a decent amount of votes and instead of someone who has more character getting a brave alt it's a liked npc. For example, there are the people in the smash community that express the same hate when the character they didn't want gets in. That has nothing to do with the characters and the people that do that need mental help.

@@dantefilsdesparda because some coomers be like "hurr durr dragon waifu feet", though that's mostly died down since Fates' release. I really do feel bad for Male Corn. They're literally the same character, and many people have issue with Corrin's character as a whole, yet all that gets ignored when they can just fawn over the girl version's design. Byleth is primed to end up the same way, though it seems the gap between the Byleths isn't as huge as the Corrins. I wish I was joking, but the thirst in this community over stuff like that is rather excessive and embarrassing at times. Probably one of the most blatant examples of the blind waifu bias at play was this argument I read from somewhere years ago that more or less said "Corrin's bad decisions gets many people killed and they cry a lot, I hate everything about them. But when Female Corrin does it, it comes off as cute or endearing because she seems like a naive princess. Male Corrin's just an idiot crybaby and I hate him." Yes, that's an argument a real, functioning human being had.
I think there is a balance really. Since Male Robin Is loved more then female Robin While Female Corrin is loved more than male Corrin. I do feel bad for Make Byleth though-

I've only S ranked a few characters in 3H, but Marianne is def the best out of literally all of them. She is a great healer with a decent spell list in both reason and faith. I've run her in a few classes like dark flier, gremory, dancer, and savant and she's worked in them all fairly well. (With a bit of investment for physical damage output in savant) On a side tangent, always recruit her. If you don't, she's never seen again and with her being depressed and all, that doesn't seem like a good sign.

Hot take: it's totally fine to be upset if a character you don't like is topping a poll that determines of there's going to be ANOTHER unit of it in a game you love. What is not good is dissing the people who do love them. The character itself is fair game.
My personal reasons is that I don't like Female Byleth that much and she already has an alt while Marianne isn't in the game yet. Is it wrong for me to try and push for a character I want over a character I don't? Only if I'm an ass about it, like Chrom fans on Twitter.

The whole thing I don’t understand about the “deserve” thing is that this whole thing is an opportunity to get any character we want in FEH. So why do we need another Chrom or Marth?
The brave alts seem to be ways to celebrate the most popular characters in the series. With Marth in particular, a lot of people feel (not unjustifiably) that Marth has been robbed multiple times with him straigh up having more votes then Ephraim in CYL2 yet not winning because of the vote split, being second halfway through CYL3 but getting snubbed by Eliwood with the only justification people had being that he had less alts (it's likely that he got a lot of support from the Lyn and Hector fans knowing he was the Blazing Blade character with the best chance after those two already won), and by CYL4 3H came and took every spot for themselves due to sales and being so recent. These factors have held Marth back for 3 years in a row and now that we no longer have any of those factors to worry about and with Marth fans being sick of getting so close just to get third place, Marth fans have rissen up to make sure he's not going to lose again. For Chrom it's kind of the same deal, but he has less of a fanbase behind him then Marth does (as shown by him consistently getting less votes then Marth).
It's unfair how many times Marth has been on the verge of winning only to lose his spot. That's why many, myself included, feel that it's long overdue for him to get his brave alt.
Marth is the face of Fire Emblem. Just give it to him as respect.

I can understand really well that people want marriane, but why bernadetta she has got 2 versions ingame already and honestly is one of my least favourite students. Imagine if the Chrom v Gatekeeper battle end with both of them beating Marth. That would be the wildest possible senario. Though quite frankly, I don't think Chrom has the support to pull that off. If anything, Gatekeeper will overtake Marth while Chrom remains behind, and even that is somewhat unlikely.
