  • Wow, this is definitely an extreme test scenario that most people may never experience. I appreciate your efforts in testing all of these cases. Because your testing involves such inconsistent impacts for each case, however, you cannot necessarily draw any reasonable conclusions beyond the failures. All you can really state is which cases fail in certain circumstances. The cases that survived their specific type of impact does not necessarily mean that they will not fail with other types of impacts. The type of impacts are so varied: corner, side, top, bottom, face, back, and a variety of combinations in between. To have more conclusive results, you either need drop each phone multiple times to get each desired type of impact, or you need to find a way to impose the same impact on each phone. You might even start with the most subtle impacts and work up to the worst, and then build a table of results for each type of impact. A tall PVC chute might work (maybe with a silicone spray coating inside to prevent friction against the chute walls) for end impacts, but that's just one type of impact. This would probably require a good deal of experimentation, but I'm certain it can be done and would definitely provide more consistent test scenarios. It's definitely time consuming and expensive to perform proper tests. Good luck!

    @fb341@fb341 Жыл бұрын

In my current iPhone 13 Pro Max bcz the flex series is also flat so I used to keep my iPhone standing upright in my office to see notifications but once it got pushed by some documents and now the top right edge of flex seems like it’s a little wobbly and loose every time I hold that corner. I think the shock proof should not had been compromised at all but despite that I love the Flex case…it’s the best you can get and it still gives so much protection on normal drops compared to any other open side cases out there. • @@d.524 it’s not whether it’s good or bad. You’re watching a video who’s bias is obviously toward favoring your own product, thus increasing $$$. You’re essentially tricked into a 13 minute ad and of course he wouldn’t show anything bad abt his own line unless he tries to sabotage his own company on purpose and that one outlier might be there to convince you into thinking that it’s all fine and couldn’t be faked. Being skeptical is fine, especially if it comes to the safety of your $700+ iPhone and how much you’re willing to spend on a case + who it’ll go to instead. Hopefully it’s completely unbiased and it very well might be but it’s unfortunate that it’s difficult to verify the authenticity. The best way is to get other independent 3rd parties to test his cases for a more fairer comparison given the said party is trustworthy enough.

  • This is a great demo! The only problem is that whether the phone survives is of course dependent on the case, but also how the phone lands. If you guys had an unlimited supply of phones and repeated tests (using a new case each time) we could get a better idea of whether some of the cases that failed did so due to extremely poor luck (as to how it hit i.e. what hit first, was it a total belly flop, etc.) Unfortunately, no one can be expected to do this!!!! So thanks for the demos, really excellent. What other cases do you have that you haven't yet drop tested? Oh, and one other thing - try dropping a 13 Pro Max; it's so heavy that I'm not sure it could survive in *any* case! So if you had a Pro Max, what is the most rugged case would you buy if money was no object? And what case would you buy for maximum protection if the case must have MagSafe compatibility?

Looks like I'll probably stick to the good ol' reliable Otterbox, I am a total butterfingers and have been known to accidentally launch my poor phone into walls before so I swear by my old Commuter for my 7. The two piece design is a pain to get on and off, and it's not great that it slipped out, but still good to see that the sense of protection I get from it is not entirely in my head considering I (hopefully) will never be quite so klutzy as to drop it off a 50ft tower lol!

Coming from the Otterbox Defender Pro XT - the rebel is much slimmer, buttons are crisp, and the toggle switch is very easy to reach. Future suggestion: It would be nice if you added some TPU to the outside of the case as well - or something that would give more grip.

  • 50 feet drop is pretty extreme for any case, i dont care who makes it. I imagine there is also some luck involved in this test with what part of the case impacts the ground. I would like to see the ones that survived dropped 5 times in the same case and see the results. That takes some of the luck factor away, although this would obviously be a more expensive test! That new green iPhone 13 Plus breaking at the end was painful to watch.

    • @@spizzlo im pretty sure this is more of a visible durability drop test as internally it's very surprising for any phone to survive such an extreme drop no matter what case it has. Still fun but sad to watch at the same time😭

    • Ideally a repeatable release mechanism could drop the phones in a nearly identical way. As long as the wind is minimal it could provide a equal and identical drop test. Indoor testing on a regulated ground surface would be the bees knees.

  • Nice job! As a Brazilian, I've been following your work for quite a while, and finally I was able to get one case from you for my brand new iPhone 13. A friend of mine is in USA and will bring it to me soon :) Also, I just wanted to say that the Gen-2 Crystal Series are the best looking cases I've ever seen. Wish there was that style as an option for iPhone 13. Anyways, I got the Rebel Series and I'm stoked to put it on the phone! Thank you for your hard work! Greeting from Brazil!

  • This video is pretty interesting but I think you could make this a bit more scientific; If you added a tail (like a kite) made of some thick poly film for stabilization taped to the top of the phones, they will all fall directly on the bottom corners. This seems to be the most vulnerable part of cases due to the cutouts for ports. Also some controls of generic cases from ebay/wish/aliexpress would be interesting as most of them are garbage but there are probably a few designs the expensive brands could learn from and improve upon. A video with simple 3d printed dummy phones with hollow cut-out on the back so they could be weighted to the same density as the actual and a single screen protector or window pane glass glued on the face to simulate the screen would be pretty interesting and informative without being so environmentally destructive or just outright expensive.

  • Would really love to buy a Gen 3 case EXCEPT I live in Australia. With the US$ to Aud$ conversation rate PLUS the added import tax & sales tax to be paid on arrival it sadly makes this case extremely expensive. The taxes are the primary added cost unfortunately. Wish you had an agent who would sell your cases in Australia. I’d really like what you are doing making mobile phone cases. Thank you 😊🙏

  • I miss watching your videos on leaks and your takes on things, however watching this I really am happy for you dude. I wouldn't have it any other way than you doing what makes you happy and applying your knowledge and intellect to making something that betters the world makes me happy and happy for you. So keep doing it man, I'm sure start up was expensive, but you seem like a REALLY smart person that obviously didd their homework on creating these cases/shields. I definitely wish you a lot of success, and I definitely will be buying your case on my next iPhone (iPhone 14). Miss the channel, but keep up the good work man, SUPER impressive what you've done. I've always thought, you were way too smart to be wasting your time looking up rumors, even though you were always one of my favorite channels and my favorite for phone/Apple news. But to waste your talent on just finding out leaks/rumors and talking to people, just to then tell all of us in videos (with amazing renders), not worth it bro. I feel you said at one time you had your Masters in Physics or Engineering, which makes all the sense in the world you'd be able to come up with these amazing cases. I had a few friends growing up that became physics/engineering majors and they were the smartest people I knew, even smarter than my friends that became attorneys/Doctors (medical). We will have other rumors sights but only one of you, so do you Philipe!

    • The iPhone 13 Pro is the heaviest phone out there BY FAR in weight/size ratio. We're talking ~80% heavier than most other phones of the same size. This also makes it very easy for it to slip out of a case. Truth is, the phone is just way too heavy for its size. If you watch the video again, you'll see that not a single 13 Pro survived. Technology adds weight. A friend of mine has a Xiami 11 Lite. Bigger screen than iPhone 13 Pro, half the weight. But much worse camera and in general a completely different price category (250 Bucks?).

    • I live in India and not all cases are available here easily. I got the UAG Metropolis flip cover for the iPhone 14 pro just now and feel that it will do a much better job than the Monarch that was tested here because of the hard and sturdy front flip cover. At least, I hope its safer. Not planning to get a screen guard unless I manage to get my hands on a Shellrus Sapphire one. There is a gap anyway between the front cover and the screen anyways, so nothing is touching it and the Apple screen looks flush directly. Also, although the Metropolis doesnt have a magnetic clasp, the design itself makes the cover flip automatically. Wondering about the shock absorption though, because if the material and quality of the build at is the same as Monarch 2021, then I need to get another case, like a Rebel shown or something.
