... that's enough time to build all the cabinetry for our van (and do the 57 other projects we haven't even started yet), right?

  • I feel like you should add drop down legs to the deck so it is not entirely supported by the slide. I think it will degrade over time.

  • Hey Morley, Love your build videos, the podcast shape ones, I'm not the biggest fan of but are interesting too. looking forward to see you already on the road with your family and pets, conquering the world! cheers! I think you should bring as many tools as you can carry with you, get a Jackery cell, I think you're going to need it at some point.

  • Drop down legs already mentioned...I'll add that I feel like you need some kind of locking mechanism to keep the drawer from retracting in when you walk on it. Feels like someone is going to end up falling on their face b/c its like walking on rollers.

  • i would be more afraid of the deck sliding back in while you walk on it (since your steps push it back the way it slid out from) than it breaking from your weight. You should have a way to lock it when it's fully extended.

    @keithwilson13@keithwilson138 ай бұрын
    • It does lock when fully extended - those are the yellow levers

  • Lots of hardwork😅 and excellent teamwork👌. My only afterthought is, the interior could have been 3d scanned, and wood pieces iterated on CAD. But its more fun the way it is!😊❤👍

    @aware2action@aware2action8 ай бұрын
    • We did our rough layout in CAD, but with so many on-the-fly changes, updating the model starts to become more trouble than it's worth! Once everything is done, I'll probably make an as-built model. For now, it's very useful for planning our drawer/cabinet layouts.

      @MorleyKert@MorleyKert8 ай бұрын
    • @@MorleyKert I actually meant the internal body frame. But again, it could, by itself take lot more time and effort to ensure accuracy(the now absolete hp 3d structured light scanner should have been sufficient, not sure of current alternatives). Its way easier to make final adjustments, than trying to get it right in cad the first time(unless using pre-cut pieces). Would be interesting to watch, as the build progress further. Wish you all the best in a successful build within the timeline.♥️👍

  • I love the platform idea ... but, what is the point of it? Is it going to be an outside table? Or a kitchen counter? I am just trying to understand the day to day use case? Maybe when the van is all done it will make more sense for my simple mind.

    @Siminfrance@Siminfrance8 ай бұрын

  • I’m a little surprise there hasn’t been a single 3-d printed part in this build yet. Are there any plans to add them? Great job so far, eagerly awaiting each video!

    @HappyLooter@HappyLooter8 ай бұрын
    • Definitely! Just haven’t come across many needs for 3D printed parts yet, as most of the building has been large scale carpentry. I’m sure we’ll find some good problems once we get to the more detailed parts, storage solutions, etc.!
