    • Wondering why Yugioh has these progression series but Pokemon doesn't. The content creation sphere is super different between these two card games, even MTG also gets way better content creation (granted it is also older and has more people playing).

    • @@coolyeh1017Ik im coming in a few months after the comment, but the reason is they have completely different communities. If you search in an incognito window “magic tcg” or “yugioh tcg” you get a variety of content, from deck techs to product reviews, to pack openings. Searching “Pokemon tcg” will pretty much just give you pack openings, I guess where the casual collector is just a large part of the community (how many people collect the cards but don’t know how to play the game). The best way to get gameplay and is it worth it style content is putting “Pokémon tcg deck” and that seems to do a decent job filtering

  • As someone who came to Pokémon from Yugioh and still watched a lot of Yugioh content- dang this is fun. Cimo’s Yugioh progression series and everything that followed jt are so fun to watch, but Yugioh sets after around 2012 get really hard to use in sealed formats like this, and I think Pokémon’s mechanics are PERFECT for this idea. So excited to see where y’all take this

  • This is super fun, but with the distribution of cards in a booster box it could very easily become a game of just who got lucky, as I think was shown with how insanely better Chip is already set up for the whole series. While both players will continue to get cards from future sets, base set especially is unique in that it includes essential Pokémon search and draw support that usually is only printed for base set, while future expansions only include situational tech cards that can synergize well, but ultimately operate with the assumption that you have access to the essentials already. Azul is probably doomed here for the whole series if he’s up against 3 pokegear and 3 research, along with 3 times the general ball search (future sets have practically no ball search options), while having little to no opportunity for such cards in the future. I know Azul gets a bundle of 6 packs, but those packs have almost no chance to give him anywhere near even material to Chip for the essentials. Because of the special importance of base set specifically, I think they should consider opening an additional 18 packs each, combining to 1 full booster box per player, even if it’s only for base set and not future sets. It should help greatly with the long term viability of the series, since people will eventually get tired of watching 1-sided beat downs where skill is a virtual non-factor.

I like how both of you had a good sense of humor throughout. Knowing that your decks were probably going to be bad, you did what you could with what you pulled. Nice work, guys.

A video showing how and what you pack in terms of gameplay items for a big tournament would be super helpful. Do you bring all the possible tech cards or just figure that you'll be able to pick up certain necessities at the event itself? Stuff like that.

This looks like it'll be fun too :) It might be better to each open a box though? I know that's more expensive but it could get really hard to have proper evolution lines this way.
