  • [Spoken Words: Martin Luther King Jr.] I say to you this morning, that if you have never found something so dear and so precious to you that you will die for it, then you aren't fit to live You may be 38 years old as I happen to be And one day some great opportunity stands before you And calls upon you to stand up for some great principle Some great issue, some great cause And you refuse to do it because you are afraid You refuse to do it because you want to live longer You're afraid that you will lose your job Or you're afraid that you will bе criticized Or that you will lose your popularity Or you're afraid that somеbody will stab you or shoot at you or bomb your house Aand so you refuse to take the stand Well you may go on and live until you are 90 But you're just as dead at 38 as you would be at 90 And the sensation of breathing in your life is but the belated announcement of an earlier death of the spirit You died when you refused to stand up for right You died when you refused to stand up for truth You died when you refused to stand up for justice :)

  • why would you put one of the most influential speeches meant to empower people to stand up for their civil rights and reduce it to nothing more than a stepping stool to allow you to talk about how you would die for a girl? The track this was meant to set up is not the same in importance, significance, and urgency - MLK's speech has nothing to do with with you wanting to die for a crush. This is a tasteless and disrespectful misinterpretation of a speech that gave people reason to fight against injustices they were dealt against them because of their class and race. Do not devalue a speech as impactful as this one.

He has many fans, especially internationally who dont know MLK or what he stood for, he wanted his message to reach people around the world so he included it on his album. Justin has donated benefits to the MLK foundation and all the money he makes from this interlude will go to the foundation as well. Every stream for this interlude is benefiting the MLK foundation. This was a small part from his side to try and spread awareness. He has a big platform and I think it was very smart of him to put this on his album because millions of people will be hearing it.

    • @@MonkeyTurtle100 in the lyrics its justice not Justin you can go check lyrics on Spotify too. He won't be that tone deaf nobody is. Those tiktoks are pushing fake narratives. Now why did he included the mlk interlude : first of all mlk daughter's has approved him to do so and the money from the songs are going to mlk foundation. This and many foundation are gonna be benefited from it. Why did he chose to put this : it's because he wanted to share MLK's ideology to the world. If you listen to the lyrics of this song you will see it's about love and injustice. MLK has always been a preacher of love and god. And this speech specially goes along with the next song which is d!e for you. Justin really admires MLK and he said today in an interview that about what's going around the world the racial injustices it's needed to be raise our voices and this speech fits this narrative and of the album perfectly. It's just people hating unnecessarily on him. Confusing for some ya sure but saying he's profiting from it and he's tone deaf is wrong. You clearly don't follow him for you to say "performative activism". OF COURSE HE DIDN'T WROTE THE SPEECH that is why MLK is in the title. Even the daughter of MLK approved of him sharing her dad's words in his album. I think you're the one who has "fake wokeness"

      @Xczptn391@Xczptn3913 жыл бұрын
    • @Joe Biden is the 46th President Because his album is not about racism and politics. I get what you are saying. For me, he should've make a 2 parts album to correlate more (the story of the songs and the speech). (Maybe he will in the future) The album is about love, being hopeful, keep fighting and holding on to what precious to us in our current situations which can relate to what MLK is preaching. (songs: Hold on, Anyone, and holy). Just because it's MLK sermon doesn't mean it's all about racism but also love and being strong. Justin already said it that this album will provide comfort on our helpless feeling in our hearts in general. He also put the speech there to remind us what we're fighting for while we're in healing from the battle. The album is not perfect but it's still good and it still heal people. Anyway, aren't you happy that people around the world now knows about MLK? He uses his MASSIVE platform to spread MLK sermon so more people hear and knows him. So what the daughter agreed to it? Because she should be the first one to be furious for that sermon to be included but no. She supported it. Of course he is privileged. He worked ever since he was a kid to be there at the top and he is a white man. But he grew. He made mistakes in the past and he learned from it. In honor of the Justice album and MLK, he supports more organization to fight racism. You may not know this but he supported so much organizations and charity to fight pandemic and such. He even flew to other countries to help and donate. Fandom always thanks and support their idol in everything that they do so like you have a beef with being a fan? Be one. How can you think that he didn't really support BLM when with out a black man, Usher, he wouldn't have a career today and not to mention , what about his black family friends like The Smiths? Why wouldn't he care about them. What do you want for Justin to do? Throw all the money he worked hard for just for YOU to see that he's a good guy? MOST ARTISTS DON'T UNDERSTAND because guess what? Life isn't fair. What matters is that they are trying to understand and still helping by using their platform. You look like a kid with your statement here. He never said that he understand being a working class citizen because he knows MLK. Every artists are also fine because they are on top of the pay grade and you can't do anything about that so just work on your self. Life isn't fair. It's really hard to see what the man has become if you didn't research or give a chance about him and just instant hate. Goodbye.
