Protecting and preserving the things you love is in our DNA. The same can be said for the people behind the Arizona-based non-profit Keep Our Desert Clean (KODC). The group of off-road and overland enthusiasts volunteers their time, money, and energy to clean up the public lands they love to explore. Watch ‘From the Ground Up: Keeping The Desert Clean’ to meet the inspiring cast of characters that are trying to make packing out more than they pack in “addicting.”

  • I am involved in some local facebook trash pick up groups as well as an open access to public lands 501c in our area. The comment in the video about our efforts being important to the next generations is a good point, I would add to that, that Education is key, and education of children is the most important key to this and other matters that we face in the world today. We need to lay the foundation of stewardship to the land in our children, starting with the younger grades, which is where we can plant the seeds in their growing minds. Thank you all for what you do, making a difference for us all.

  • I’m only 10 minutes in but I can tell this video/documentary doesn’t get as much love as it should! Such an incredible job and I can’t imagine how fun this community of adventurers is! I think I have some new life goals and aspirations after living here in AZ and so much to explore. I found your page from a person commenting about “keep our desert clean” and speaking briefly on the initiative. Very inspiring. Maybe I’ll see you our there for a clean up 🤘🏼

  • Back around 1983 i went to a place near palm springs ca. It was a nice little dune complex called Mystery dunes. Our friendly Three Wheeler mag had put an article out about it . I went with a few friends and i rode a 1982 250r ATC . I went to ride there another time and it was closed due to trash. With the wheeler in back of my datsun pickup i had no room but 2 weeks later i went out with a steel pennzoil oil barrel ( 30 gal ) and a ton of bags and filled my bed up. Many years later i had a house in the victorville area and a four seat offroad buggy trash was everywhere. I am looking to get a house possibly in AZ and hope to join in with this fantastic community.

  • I quote, a lot of trail closures come from the inability of the land mangers to keep up with the maintenance, when they get to a place where they can't keep up with that work whether that then becomes a safety issue, or an environmental issue, we close that area. Previous to that, one of your members said if you pack it in pack it out. Tread lightly, He is absolutely correct, pack it in, pack it out. Its not that hard. This shouldn't happen, the worthless people that disrespect our homes and places of recreation need to be educated and prosecuted when they infringe upon the areas Americans use responsibly for recreation Im not an offroad entusiast, im a backpacker, trail runner, I don't think its the people that use the land for recreation, its lazy aholes that don't want to take time to haul their crap to the land fill and pay the fee, then, create a problem for us. Well done folks keep it up. I hope to join ya on a clean up soon
