Thanks for the candid explanation. I just bought the press , to help me replace the carrier bearing on 2006 Kia Sorento rwd. (I’ve gotta press bearings in and out of the u-joint. I’ve never pressed rotor before. On the f-150, the font rotors would come pre assembled with the hub bearings. And I would just replace the whole thing (along with spindle nut) when the bearings went out. But I would keep the old rotors, planning on someday learning to press and replace bearings, but I never did….Well now I’m gonna. And your video is delightful and insightful, thanks.

Thanks for letting me know there are different versions out there. I'll make sure I get the newest when I get one.

That press is $179.99 at my nearest Harbor Freight in Branson. $106 sounds great. The 20T model is $220 at same place. I talked with a local mechanic in my town and he is offering to sell me his used 20T that was $300 for $160 sp im probably going to get the 20 Ton shop press. Honestly $220 for a 20 Ton vs $180 fpr a 12 Ton press is worth the extra cash. Thats 26,000lb to 40,000lbs for $40

Some stick-on UHMW pads or tape on to fill the slop on the moving arbor would be a really good addition. (Ultra High Molecular Weight plastic like floor glides.) Also, folks fill any frame slop with washers. I'd be very wary of any bolt holes too large for the bolts they hold, and consider lock nuts such as Nyloc nuts, so the frame bolts don't loosen.

Did you have any luck returning it and getting the new version?

Yes, I did. The guy at the store was nice enough to check by opening up the box. The newer one is much better.

@@avpriority The newer version of the 12 ton press (60604) is much better. I have been using it now for 4 years with no dissappointments. It even works very well pressing bigger bearings and races.

Why is there even a chance of getting the older version? Why not just keep the stock updated? Especially in 2022.

@@ThatIsDopeBro Yeah they're still selling the old version.. I bought one and the bottle jack didn't work I took it back and they exchanged it. They gave me the older model I didn't know it until I got it assembled. I'mma just keep it and not worry about it but if you buy one the newer model comes in 2boxes and the older model comes in 3boxes, so at least you'll know before you leave the store.
