  • 3:40 in case anyone wonders why the missile turns 90 degrees in such an "awkward" manner, just remember if you lauch it straight up then gradually turn it to a horizontal stance and fly towards the target, by the time the missile is horizontal, it's a at least 1 or 2 kilometers in altitude. enemy ship's radar will pick up the missile immediately. but if you forcefully turn the missile at just a few dozen meters above ground, most of the missile's journey towards its target is going to be below radar detection altitude.

I'd specifically like to see our world militaries face off against the Covenant from Halo, and the Empire from Star Wars. However, their spacecraft should be excluded, as that gives them an unfair advantage in being able to bombard us from orbit. I'd especially love to see the TOS-1A MLRS take down entire platoons of Imperial Stormtroopers, dozens of AT-STs, and even an AT-AT or two. It would also be awesome to see the Archer Artillery System used to make precision strikes against either enemy as part of a guerilla warfare campaign, much like the Rebel Alliance waged on the Empire.

    • Sure we will. The biggest issue is that they can glass us from thousands of miles into space, and that nukes will have a disastrous effect on humanity. We have legitimately no defense against anything in high orbit. (Above 200Miles/321KM)--and that's saying that they didn't study our weapons systems before and create something to either disable or just develop armor to withstand them. So basically our problems are twofold if something so much further advanced then us were to attack us. Our only weapons that could maybe hit ships within low orbit is nuclear/ICBM's, and maybe satellites, which in the end would cause nuclear winter and kill us, and we don't have any defense against anything that can go higher.

    • This IS good and beneficial for humanity. Shit like this is why we don't go to war over a petty insult, where countless men stab each other with sharp metal sticks. Now what would have been a war of thousands gets concentrated into skirmishes of maybe a dozen men tops, or a remote operation from a distance with tactical responses that don't even have to kill a single person to surgically destroy problem facilities or equipment of an enemy or terrorist group. What you're advocating for, is a regression to a world where to achieve the same effect, dozens to thousands would die in battles. And as for nukes, MAD is the only reason we haven't had World War 3-5 yet.

  • I would love to see a simulated representation of our world coming together to fight an external threat with all our most advanced and powerful weapons/vehicles/technologies.

    @cryzz0n@cryzz0n2 жыл бұрын
    • We'd lose. To have an external threat during this timeframe, it would be against a species that has mastered interplanetary travel, faster than light travel, and the assumption being universal scanning capabilities, "our" threat level to such an adversary would high highly rudimentary, as if they perceived us a threat at anytime before our first strike, we'd be annihilated. To me that what makes aliens and 99% of sci fi.... literally science fiction, we don't stand a chance... we can look across nature and find that species do not stand in unity, survival of the fittest is practically law of the land... so assuming such an advanced species exists, has eradicated each other, and worked together with one another to advance it's society to the aforementioned state... how could we possibly come close as fragmented as we are... many of us don't get along with other family members, let alone next door neighbors, imagine what it would take for all human beings to stop treating each other poorly, and work together....

    • hehe yeah and the most powerful isn't even among them, which is the Tsar Bomba, the most nuclear bomb ever detonated. By the Russians in Nova Zembla... it was so powerful that windows in the Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway) scattered. They weren't even sure if the pilot that dropped the test-bomb would be able to survive it and keep ahead of the blast. He did, but not long after he quit the Russian airforce and never flew again... that tells you something about the impact on the pilots XD Sadly though I'm sure if there is a WW3, the most powerful hydrogen bombs ARE gonna be used. I've never seen a war where both sides didn't eventually ended up in using their strongest weapons. Even in an insignificant war like Syria, the forbidden mustard gasses were used, so I don't think some agreement on paper will stop the military and politicians when push comes to shove.
