Neither are their beaks with the exception of Izzy because she has a bad case of genetic cross beak and in order for her to be successfully handfed I have to dremel her beak now and then to keep her beak as functional as possible.

    • I highly doubt it, for people who do that to animals, animal protection and those nutters of PETA are the exact same thing. They are technically exactly like Trump voters.. they only hear what they want to hear, ignore every single opinion that doesn't align with theirs and get aggressive and defensive whenever they feel their opinion changing or as if they were intellectually inferior. 🤦🏼‍♂️ But long story short: The title was chosen really poorly and is completely misleading. To me the title sounds as if the things mentioned in the video are legitimate tricks, cheats and life hacks you have to do in order to get certain wild but friendly and curious animals like squirrels, ravens or even "just" ducks to take food from you and to earn their trust enough to not instantly scuttle away at the slightest movement. 👀 What I definitely did not expect was a tutorial on "How to best maltreat and technically assault your pets in order to save yourself a few inconvenient moments and a bit of time.. But the worst thing of all, a practise that is as just as cruel as pulling an animal's teeth so it can't bite: clipping their tails and ears, just to make them "look more menacingly and sublime". 😡

    • Most people do that by fixing the animals. They don't mention that.

      @Dan-dy8zp@Dan-dy8zp6 ай бұрын
    • @@Dan-dy8zpfixing them is actually necessary to some degree. Cats and dogs are invasive species, if they breed out of control not only will there be thousands suffering on the streets, but they will also knock out the local ecosystem. It sounds brutal but it’s a one time procedure with no follow up complications in almost every single case. It does also improve the health in some ways where they can avoid testicular or ovarian cancers. There is debate on how soon it should be done, my golden was spayed at a year and a half to prevent hip dysplasia(breeder suggested that) but I really haven’t seen any vets that are anti fixing for any reason. Every cat I’ve had has been spayed at 2-3 months which is young but that’s how it has to be when adopted from a shelter. In my hundreds of fosters the only incidents I’ve ever seen is occasionally a hernia will develop. Like 1/100 if that. It usually goes away on its own or they can surgically fix it if needed. I am extremely cautious about how my pets are taken care of, my aunt is a vet, I know almost as much as a formally trained vet does about cats, and all of my animals are fixed and that will always be the case.

    @The-gender-goblin@The-gender-goblin5 ай бұрын
  • You partially clip the flight feathers. You don't remove them. And poultry beaks aren't trimmed, they are cut and cauterized. Trimming wild birds beaks it to prevent overgrowth os said beak, or for birds like parrots which haven't kept their beaks trimed due ilto the birds personality or lack of suitable items . Trimming a beak doesn't make it safer to handle, just allows the bird to eat. Trimmed or not a raptor or a parrot can cause massive damage including amputation of digits or for the largest at least half amputation of your hand

  • You can get a special collar for a rooster that doesn't hurt them at all. It just prevents them from filing their air sacks enough to produce a loud crow. They can make all other sounds, eat and drink. Take the collar off, they start crowing loudly again. You can even put a velcro backed bow tie on them to make the 'roo look fancy. You can teach chickens and other birds to wear a harness, light leash, and a 'diaper' on them when they are sitting on your shoulder or any other place you don't want them to poop. You have to do this when they are young to get them used to it. In the Hobbit, they had a rooster on a leash walking in the market, it's blink and you'll miss it moment.

      @AstraI1@AstraI14 ай бұрын
    • @@AstraI1 It doesn't hurt them at all. If fitted correctly, you can slide your fingers underneath the collar. It's not a 'belt', it's a piece of velcro. They can eat, chatter, walk and run around, flap their wings, they just can't produce a loud crow with it on. People like you are the worst kind of 'animal rights' person, because you have no clue what you are talking about. I bet you have a fit about sheep being shorn, when in fact it's cruel NOT to shear them. Most wool sheep don't lose their wool on their own, so they have to be shorn.

      @PhantomQueenOne@PhantomQueenOne4 ай бұрын
    • @@AstraI1 I see you reported my correction to your comment. No, again, it doesn't hurt the chicken. They can chatter (I like listening to chickens chatter while looking in my face. 'Is that a fact? You don't say! I just wish I could understand chicken lol!) run around, get their wattles and comb rubbed and head scratched (which makes them sleepy enough to nap on your lap), eat, take dust baths, have fun with the hens, and do other chicken things. They just can't crow loudly. You should be able to slide a finger under the collar so it's not too tight. The minute you take it off, they can crow loudly again. I wouldn't put something on a roo that would hurt them.

      @PhantomQueenOne@PhantomQueenOne4 ай бұрын
    • I didn't report your correction or anything else idk if you understood my comment, you can do something that doesnt "hurt" but is uncomfortable, i attempted to show you a situation where you would feel the same way (but not be hurt) just because something isnt painful doesn't mean its not cruel. A muzzle on a dog, prob doesn't hurt but who would want to be tied up in one all the time. being in a prison cell prob doesnt hurt, but who wants to be locked up. You're placing limitations on something that wants to do something they're now unable, what does it feel like for the rooster when it goes to take a deep breath or w/e to crow but cant get it out it probably feels restrictive and uncomfortable. Im glad the roosters can breathe, and its def not the worst thing you can do to an animal, i think its similar to a muzzle i dont think you're intentionally trying to harm them, or a are a bad person. Im just saying I wouldnt want that done to me.

How would they even get rabies in the first place? If they did manage to get rabies (fighting with a raccoon perhaps?) After the incubation period,they drop dead,just like us. The bit on domestication was really interesting. You might want to cover the silver fox project etc. for folks who don't know. As far as reptiles and domestication I've read the ones that appear to be becoming domesticated are leopard geckos,crested geckos,ball pythons and bearded dragons. • If for some reason you cannot risk being scratched by a cat(maybe a blood condition idk), look in your local shelter. There’s almost always at least one there who comes in declawed. They’re usually older but you’re just gonna have to deal with it. They should never be outside unsupervised but with supervision it’s ok, they need their claws for protection and climbing away from danger. NEVER EVER adopt a perfectly healthy cat/kitten just to get them declawed. Vets who do that should honestly get jail time for animal abuse.

  • The trimming of beaks is mainly routine to prevent malocclusions of the beak, it is when your jaws are out of line due to overgrown teeth/beaks. It makes it difficult to eat, and cause animals to waste away from not eating; and can be more painful then not doing it (such as abscesses, mouth perforations). It is part of proper care for exotic animal care.

Now I have two parakeets (my mother wanted to get two, to "fill" a cage that was sitting empty for ten years (refused to put it in storage). They can fly (nothing clipped). Also have a toad my brother took from a park (closest one to my place), so it cannot be released back due to being invasive. It eats cockroaches and crickets. Anything wild that was born in the wild (not excluding the terrible fact that people abandon pets out IN the wild!) should stay there.

The bird will slowly bleed out if something is not done. Luckily, the solution is fairly simple - pluck out the broken feather entirely.

That’s not going to stop us picking up a heavy object and rearranging an alien’s cranium. They’d have to remove our brain, since that is what makes us incredibly dangerous, or sever our spinal cord at the neck to make us quadriplegic, at which point what would be the point in having a pet who is dead or can’t move?

I've had sugar gliders before, and their nails and teeth are sharp, but I never would have removed any part of them. I love my dogs and cats just the way they are also. I had a neighbor who had their mini poodles voice box removed because he didn't like barking!!! That really pissed me off, and I felt so sorry for those 2 pups not being able to do what dogs do best. @lexruptor@lexruptor4 ай бұрын
  • Okay, I'm going to interject here. Beak trimming is done because some bird's beaks will get way too overgrown, more commonly in captivity due to not having access to things that will file their beaks down...but definitely still happens in the wild...which causes them to become scissor-like. What you're showing isn't beak trimming, that is damaging the beak altogether, at least in the chickens. That's cruelty, not a typical beak trim. Google what birds look like with overgrown beaks. This prevents them from eating and they can die. As for the flight feathers, sometimes it's less dangerous to have them clipped than it is for them to have their flight feathers. It doesn't hurt them and when they moult, it does NOT expose their blood feathers. Blood feathers are exposed when they either hit something and the feather snaps too far back, if you clip it too far back, etc. the flight feathers continue to grow and grow. When the flight feathers do moult, it happens properly for the bird without the bird having any issues. Blood feathers you do need to worry about as they can bleed out too much and die. However, clipped or not, those feathers will moult the exact same...but they must be clipped by someone who knows how to clip them and not hit the blood feather. As for clipping flight feathers "being painful," this DOES NOT hurt a bird! It's like clipping your nails. If it is done properly, the bird can still fly, but just unbalanced. If it's done incorrectly, then they'll go to fly and fall instantly. It all boils down to doing things right and knowing what you're doing before you get it done. Do your research and ensure it's done properly! As a previous breeder myself, and one that was well known around North America at the time, I know a lot about birds. As for the other animals, I know nothing about. Couldn't say anything about them.
