This is awesome. What is the "stacking" material they are using? It looks synthetic, in other words, not a natural sod-type product.

What the the advantage of putting the sod turf down?
It holds the edge and will not erode. It will last for decades.
Lots of cost involved in sod wall bunkers. Maybe not worth the expense. A normal, deep bunker would be 25 times cheaper to build.
I don't think they were going for cost savings.
But more expensive to maintain over the years.

I was in the golf course business for 15 years. started from the ground up to superintendent. unfortunately the course went bankrupt during the economic downturn in 2008. Was unemployed for 16 months. Never went back. I often wonder how many golfers or even the pros know how much work mostly physical work goes into maintenance.
