Robert Kiyosaki is an acclaimed entrepreneur, author, and investor best known for his influential book series "Rich Dad Poor Dad," which emphasises financial education and wealth-building principles. The legendary book has gone on to sell more than 40 million copies in over 100 countries worldwide.
I caught up with Robert while he was Down Under for his last speaking tour ever in Australia. We spoke about his love for Australia, growing up in Hawaii, serving in Vietnam, his relationship with his poor dad, what he learned from his rich dad, achieving financial success, what made him write his legendary book, his predictions on a future recession, the possibility of WW3, how powerful the banks are, his relationship with President Donald Trump and much more.

  • He is absolutely accurate about the Boomers. I'm 72, born to a WW2 vet. My social security is not enough to live on, I'm in HUD housing, struggling to pay electricity AND groceries. They bounced us from the job market in the 90s, when we were in our 40s. Many of my friends are still working. Others worked themselves to an early grave. Most elders now have some malnutrition, too many are homeless. Viet Nam vets are without medical care, & too many are homeless. Our government allowed the bankers to rob the tax coffers. The $ has no value at all. Yet they refuse to stop the pork barrel spending.

Russia and China along with India are about to DUMP THE DOLLAR for the BRICS oh and once Joe Biden cut the pipelines and the oil, Saudi Arabia went off the petrodollar and started accepting other currencies their intentionally crashing our economy the United States dollar is garbage. Pay attention to Canada they already cannot get their money in cash from their Banks

  • Well what a lovely man. I really enjoyed this podcast. I am 81 years old and don't profess to knowing much about anything really apart from that the world is a very different place from the one I was born into here in the U.K. I wish I were younger and had the time left in my life to follow Robert. • Me too. I haven’t read it yet but I keep hearing about it. I’m 62 and the most financial education I got was they taught us how to keep a checking account ledger and how to balance it to our monthly statement. That was in 8th grade ie, middle school. Not about loans, not about stocks and the stock market, not about government financial responsibility etc etc.

  • I'm asking, where are the other financial instruments, because anyone who signs up for an amortized variable rate mortgage, will own 1 house after 20 years (maybe I haven't done the math but after seeing the first 5 years 90% of your mortgage payment is applied to interest and maybe 120$ towards principle EACH MONTH, and that ratio does not invert until the last 5 years. The only reason the mortgage terms (i.e. 15-year, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40) are so long is so you can pay them triple the principle amount "borrowed" by the end of it. It would be a 5 year or 10 year mortgage at 0$ down, if you werent only paying 10% towards the principle balance for the first 30 years. Payments should go 95% towards principle, 5% because the "lender" is "servicing" the loan. And all interest should accrue until principle is balanced out then payments continue until the accrued interest is paid. And thats not even the half of it, they dont care if you default or not (i mean they care, reputation wise, but the risk they face is not actually risky for them. Theres nothing at stake except their false reputable image they are expected to maintain) Everything you pay in mass interest is merely a windfall. They are banking on the interest they receive on the account where the principal amount that you "borrowed" and have agreed to allow the lender to "service the loan" i.e. the mortgage agreement is roughly 3x by the underwriting. And can be "sold to other banks" (i think its more of a, available liquidity to contribute to the overnight emergency cash fund lending activities between banks, (the old shotgunning scheme) so each bank can appear to be in compliance with fractional reserve banking regulations.. rumor has it, due to quantitative easing, they dont even have to pretend to have reserves anymore, just underwrite anything they deem appropriate. And why wouldn’t they, when with 0 risk and 300% Windfall, not ROI, not return windfall.)

  • I agree with Mr Kiyosaki on most things. I've been a fan of his for over 20 years. Paying in silver coins would not work with most people, or gold for that matter. Most people can't tell real gold from fake. Because they don't know if it's real, they are less likely to accept it unless you convert it to dollars first. Selling at a coin dealer, they charge you a premium to buy and they discount it when you sell. Precious metals historically have only increased at the rate of inflation. It doesn't produce an income or cash flow, so I wouldn't recommend it. Metal just isn't my preference. 10,000 rental units is a much better investment than 10,000 onces of gold.

  • Great interview Mark, Highly subjective in the aussie audience. Big fan of Roberts work. So glad to see you refence the yellow brick road!!! (The Wizzard of Oz) I work for Gold.. I lost my job in pandemic. It was big gamble to take, also has been good to me. Much closer to home ownership now and i dont have a traditional job. We live in a very unique country. Motovation is key to everything. Get financially educated. Invest your time in right areas.

  • A lot of books that get turned down by publishers wind up being best sellers. The same thing happened with J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter.
