Thank you for this live test ! You certainly spent a lot of time and for that, congratulations. I had purchased K&F ND2-32 and ND32-512 filters which I returned because of great difficulty in choosing the stop because the white mark on the ring is barely visible. So I bought the StartRC filters on the Amazon site with the same pack as yours. It's great ! Even if some people come back to Freewell, they are wrong, because the pocket 3 cannot close with a Freewell filter in place !
Yeah being able to close the gimbal is most important to me at least!
Thanks, useful comparison. I've ordered some "Neewer" filters which should arrive tomorrow. After that I shall pick up the Pocket 3 from the dealer. Wrong order but ND filters are pretty essential for serious work with a camera without variable aperture.
They truly are. I think with how it looks with the pocket 3 or other action cameras it’s not as bad as say with an apsc or full frame camera. Let me know how the filters work out for you!

I’ll be honest. I haven’t use my ND as it’s so painful to take on and off. Doing some test and yes not as cinematic but still great footage for me
Thanks for the video. I am going to buy the budget ones as well. I came across a ND/PL type just now, i think it has both the ND and CPL functions, not sure whether you have a view on those ND/PL filters?
I don’t think mine have the PL with the ND. The glass is usually thicker and would probably not fit on the gimbal when closed. The freewell one has both I believe

The 256 was my favorite. I usually put it on auto since I’m out on some bright days so it was around 100 most of the time. The main reason I like these is the ability to turn off the camera and it can shut the gimbal all the way, put it away if I need to and immediately go back to shooting. Hopefully it helps!

The "sunglasses" analogy doesn't hold up. Sunglasses change you pupils, alowing them to open, like an Aperture. ND Filters are precisely like closing an Fstop to drop shutter speed..its exactly the opposite of "Sunglasses"
In a sense of the pocket 3 or any other fixed aperture, I would kind of agree with you here. On my other Sony camera where I can change my aperture, I would normally just increase to a higher number or increase the shutter when it is very bright outside. If I have the ND filter on, I can allow the aperture to OPEN(smaller number) up while keeping the shutter low. I believe that it's more of the concept of putting on some thing on the lens kinda like how you put something on your eyes. To prevent as much light coming in.
