  • The crow comics were a massive part of my life growing up ..I had all the original kitchen sink press issues ...then in 1994 we got the phenomenal 1st movie ..in my opinion The Crow is a perfect film ..they've already tried sequels but nothing ever comes close ...I definitely think the crow is a film that should be left alone ..even watching the original today its still a great movie there was no need for a reboot

    @dumontgo@dumontgoАй бұрын
    • I think it's referring to the percent of oxygen left in the tank. And yes, Earth's atmosphere is 20% oxygen.

      @masteranimation2008@masteranimation2008Ай бұрын
    • That struck me as weird too. The oxygen percentage at sea level is normally 21% but humans can survive on half that. We normally have to get 5500 m up to experience 10.5% oxygen but you can't do much but rest with that little oxygen. But people ski in the alps up to about 4000m - that is 12.7% oxygen. You will need time to adjust to being physically active in this little oxygen though. In my experience you can acclimatize to this level of oxygen in a week or two.

    • Somehow I was expecting that too. Just as MW3 since the acronymn for Modern Warfare 3 (which I've never played) first came about will always mean MechWarrior 3 for me. Would've been rather badass if say... The FIRST deployed ATLAS is combat dropped into a war zone with ad-hoc jettisonable jump pack & does a super hero landing that kicks up smoke & dust & debris. During the drop you hear that automated power-up checklist. A light mech is crushed like a tin can while it's fellow is sent flying back. You only see that Death's Head once it rises from the cloud & it's eyes & maw glow from behind. But when that unmistakable face is revealed you hear a booming "ALL SYSTEMS NOMINAL!". @@dwminiboss511

  • i have to admit, that I find the struggle to make horror movies quite impressive. Everything has been done. All we see now are remakes, rehash of "Scary" tropes, so it's up to writers and directors to bring scary ideas to the screen. But that is so much easier said than done.

    @dog3y3@dog3y3Ай бұрын
    • What I'd like to have is maybe some slow burn horror, something supernatural happens but they keep it mostly mysterious - no visual representation of the monster, at best maybe glimpses, and the main characters will actually be able to figure out what they need to do to defeat it successfully. And if it's something physical, or evil humans, how about, for once, having main characters who actually both own guns and know how to use them (you got the wrong house... ). Seriously, why are they never gun owners, and ones who have gotten enough practice to be good with their guns and can keep calm enough to be able to think, no hysterics and stupid decisions - okay, the movie might be over way too fast. But about the slow burn, smart characters and some sort of happy ending - well, just because it would be something that these days isn't usually done, apart from something like the Conjuring movies, which maybe did reasonably well just due to that. Just because it was something a bit different. Horror doesn't scare me much these days, and it tends to be so predictable that more often than not, maybe apart a jump scare or two, I just end up getting bored.

The rage and screaming from the comic purists was endless, complaining that 'the story was what the story was for a reason,' and asking, 'how could they possibly fvk up The Crow so badly?' • @@stickiedmin6508 The difference being that James O'Barr was heavily involved in the production of the Brandon Lee film. We were all excited to see the reimagining that he was co-writing c. 2014. This is not that film. Part of the importance is that these were genuinely good people who had something terrible happen to them (i.e. the real-life events leading James to write the story). This is some gangster, past lives catching up with them, John Wick wannabe film. Sequel? Fine. Even though the sequels weren't very good, they didn't pretend to be the original story.

      @body_by_depuy@body_by_depuyАй бұрын
    • @@body_by_depuy There's always a "difference." Doesn't stop people complaining. 'New' and/or different is always automatically bad. The 1994 movie was different to the comic, so that automatically made it terrible and meant James O'Barr was automatically a "sell out" and should have been ashamed of himself. You don't remember all that gatekeeping bullshtt from back then? I do. That nonsense is *_never_* different.
