The difference in the Pontiac 400 engine was signified by the TA-6.6 on the shaker on the engine, and the Oldsmobile Powered 403 was just called 6.6 liter on the shaker scoop.
Thanks for your information. Hope you continue to watch my videos.
The Grand Prix came out in 1962....
correction Pontiac never had a big block or a small block, the Pontiac V8 is identical from the 326-455 the only difference is the bore, stroke, and main baring size. the 326-400 was 3 inches in diameter and the 421,428, and 455 were all 3.25 inch. no such thing as a big block Pontiac. even the heads all interchange
Great. Do you like that car?
Mid block
I just had wished my 82 trans am with stick had been a better quality. It was a gorgeous car esp with the t tops.
Do you still have your car?
@@qmusclecars No. darn it. It had continual manual transmission issues, the 305 suffered from soft cams shafts, differential issues, etc. I loved that car. It was the elegant Trans-Am.
great. You are a wonderful audience on my channel.@@kevinfestner6126
I would love to have a 1967 Executive with a 455!? That would be rare indeed since the 455 did not debut until 1970.😉
Hope you soon achieve your wish.
Yeah he got it wrong it was a 389 and a 428 not a 455
Thank you.@@ronaldmacaluso107
79 Bonneville 4 door...15 yrs old when I bought it from an old guy for 350$....ran like a beast!
Thank you.
Definitely miss Pontiac
Great bro.
The Pontiac trans am was a decently fast car in the later 1970's and came with two options of the 400,, the Pontiac 400, which was an actual Pontiac engine, and the Olds 403 which was a respectable power house at the same time, but I think that the Pontiac was a little stronger.
We will overlook some of the errors in this video, but I must say I dislike the computer generated voice that is being used in a lot of these videos. The cars speak for themselves. Glad I had a couple of them
I'm sorry for that. I hope you continue to watch my videos.
116mph top speed! Lol😂 a little underrated. 🤔 I find myself asking the costs as advertised in the description. The amount of incorrect information in this is staggering. But, the pics and videos are cool. The Can-Am was always my favorite. I always wanted one of those.
Great point!
Why is an LS swap being featured? And what big block was installed in 1969? To bad a Pontiac fan didn't create this video.
Thank you for watching my video. Have a good day.
A mans drived me nuts
Thank you. Which car do you like the most?
I have a 1963 bonneville. It is a beautiful car, found it after it sat since 1979. Working on bringing this baby back on the road.
Great. I look forward to that day.
I owned a completely stock 73 Formula 455 Firebird (with the functional RA package) is the mid 1980s. I rebuilt the 455 engine back to stock b/c the entire car was already stock and had zero aftermarket parts. Cars back then were easy to work on and anyone with some mediocre mechanical knowledge could easily fix or hot rod their car as all cars were still pure mechanical works of art!
Do you still have your car?
@@qmusclecars Sold it in the early 1990s to finish university. Very sweet ride and easy to fix and upgrade with aftermarket parts. The Formula 455 didn't have insane horsepower but enough torque and HP for great light to light street racing back then. When I bought the Formula 455 there was also a 383 Cuda for the same price. That early 70s Cuda had the slats on the front grill and the twin hood scoops (no shaker). I was going to put early 400 7K3 heads on the 455 which would bump up the compression ratio to about 9:1 but just kept the Formula stock because it was really nice stock (since it already had a new Sikkens midnight blue paint job when I bought the car). Car looked NASTY as heck! Would have look even sweeter with those classic 5 star Cragar SS 15 X 8 all around..... but the original 5 spoke wheels with the fat trim rings were OK as well...
Thank you.@@happycat0411
@@happycat0411I would love to see a picture of it. And the Cuda too!
I had a 77 T/A back in the 90’s, paid $600 for it. One of the most uncomfortable cars I ever had but it was cool.

Outstanding lineup. It’s missing the Holden-Based GTO though, from the early 2000’s, and maybe even more Remarkably, the 2004/5 Bonneville GXP with the Cadillac Northstar V8. I believe total of only 6,600 were built.

1 Amazing Car
Thank you for watching my video. Have a good day.
My first car as a 16 year old punk was a 71 Grand Prix model J. 400 under the hood. The previous owner had taken the vinyl roof off and given the whole car an ice blue metallic paint job. Looked like the Batmobile. Was a boat to drive but it looked sick af and man I loved it.
Great. Do you still own that car?
@@qmusclecars naw that was in the early 90s. I have one pic of it in my driveway as a reminder.
Great@@LockedInWithLovebirds
Just let you know, 73 GP model J 400 engine was standard, 455 optional. SJ 455 standard. NO 350 offered in the GP until 75. The 67 EXECUTIVE 400 standard, 428 optional. NO 455 in any Pontiac until 1970. You left out 73-74 Super Duty T.A.. and EXTREMELY rare 73 74 Firebird S.D. FORMULA
I'm glad you watched the video. I'm also very happy that you gave your sincere feedback on my video.
The 350 was first offered in the GP in 76. In 75 the 400 4bbl was the base engine. A no cost optional 400 2bbl was offered along with the extra cost option 455. In 76 the 350 became the base engine with the 400 and 455 as options. This was done to lower the cost of the GP which had previously been one of the most expensive cars in the General Motors lineup.
No.1,P, love the video, but I will admit that I find it most disappointing that the Pontiac brand is not around anymore, yet if you want my opinion though, I believe that GM should have kept the brand and make more cars to really amp up the competitive market of car making and let the people decide what they want to buy and then decide to whether or not to keep it down the line, yet those muscle cars themselves are still hardcore in their own right, good to go with this video, epic respect for those cars in more ways than one.
Thank you. But classic car brands have always been my favorite.
All American car companies have been ruined. The ones that are left are putting out disgusting SUVs and crossovers that I hate with a passion. And then you have the illegitimate government forcing electric pieces of 💩.
Thank you@@ericbitzer5247

One of my 1st cars back in 1980 was a '67 Firebird with the rare 326 4bbl that I got for $1200! Can you say clearer? I do not understand you.
The GTO was built of the Tempest platform not LeMans. GM did away with Pontiac engines in 1981 that is the last year of a true Pontiac. 2002 Firebird is a Camaro only difference is the trim that's not a real Pontiac it has the heart of a Chevy unfortunately .
Thank you. Which car do you like the most?
My favorite would be the factory Tempest race cars of the early 60s@@qmusclecars
yes, great@@frankwolfrum6301
Pontiac actually wanted to continue to develop the Turbo T/A 301 in the third gen Firebird, but GM forced them to use a V8 from another division for the 3rd gen, and obviously it made sense to just go with the Chevy small block. It’s a shame, because if Pontiac had been allowed to continue to develop the Turbo 301 V8 it likely would’ve ended up outshining the Grand National/GNX, which is the very car that they ended up borrowing the engine from (with heavy modifications, they had to use the heads from the FWD version of the 3.8 V6, for example) for the 1989 Turbo T/A.
Thank you. Hope you continue to watch my videos.@@phantom0456
Isn't it pronounced La Mons? Not La Mans. It's named after the race no?
I'm sorry. I will change that in the next video.
Honestly, I don't consider any car under 250 HP as a muscle car. No matter how it looks. Most of these cars are just family cars with sporty features.
Thank you. Do you own any of them?
You gotta look at when the cars were made. Early C4 Corvettes, Iroc-Z, and 3rd-4th gen Mustangs all had less than 250 HP but were top muscle cars in their era.
Even though the HP was down in a lot of the mid 70s cars, they still had plenty of torque. A simple deletion of the horribly restrictive pellet type catalytic converter and adding true dual exhaust and headers netted about 50HP gain in the malaise era.
thanks@@mikee2923
I'm having trouble buying into any of your top speed claims. Most seem rather low.
Thank you. I looked up information in a reputable car magazine.
You gotta remember most of these cars had either a 3 speed automatic or at best a 4 speed manual, neither of which had an overdrive.

Is it me, or are most of the new videos like this read by a.i.? If you’re too cheap to pay someone to narrate a 15 minute video, why would anyone value your content? It makes everything in the video seemed cheapened, & also comes off as an insult to your target audience.
