The Northern alliance which was an Afghan alliance that actually was willing to fight and die against the Taliban was mercilessly on their tail. All their leaders were either been killed, captured or fled away to Pakistan and were living in hiding and wanted to negotiate a peaceful settlement with the US. They had completely disintegrated as a fighting force. He said when the US diverted all the resources, soldiers and men to invade Iraq that gave the Taliban time to recover its strength. They reorganized, got experienced commanders with battle harden experience, began collecting money from Opium poppy farmers and traders, began to recruit new men, accumulated more and more weapons and slowly and slowly began to regain their strength and roam freely around the country. • I've also thought about this, and I wonder if there were still cultural elements involved in preventing women from enlisting. I recently read a great Washington Post article from back in 2019, that goes into the details of what the public was told about the readiness of the army, and the actualy state of affairs. To me, two drivers of the collapse stood out: 1) "Virulent corruption" at nearly every level, from government officials lying about the.number of troops so they can pocket surplus US funds destined for salaries, to officers actually stealing the wages of their subordinates, to subordinates stealing fuel from armored vehicles to sell on the black market (there may be a link between the two). 2) Shocking levels of illiteracy and lack of education. Only 2 in 10 recruits could do any reading or writing. Knowledge of basic anatomy so absent, that medics struggled with concepts such as applying a tourniquet /pressure to a wound. It horrendous what is happening. I hope there is more investigation into why the public was lied to on so many occasions about the Afgahan army's likelihood of success.

Even paid their salaries, Trump started pulling troops as early as 2017 slowly and we went from 15,000 troops to 2,500 in 3 1/2 years... that was slowly pulling out. I think they thought well ahead of this situation. You can give the right tools to the wrong people and this is the result. Their own Government fled the country, their military had no one to command them on what to do. The Taliban took over in 10 days. So you tell me Einstien, how would you handle a 10-day siege with just 2,500 American troops to fight with? Maybe you're not the one thinking things through. It's not our responsibility to continue to police another country at the expense of American lives.

Zero American casualties in almost a year there.. Why? They knew they would’ve been held accountable to the deal that they made if they started engaging when the “mean orange man who offended the triggered left” was in office. However, the dementia patient in chief didn’t even take the time to first evacuate our people, (AND AT LEAST SOME OF OUR WEAPONRY!) and scrub all of the sensitive intel on our hard drives etc.. Because democrats just had to rush, and try and use the 20th anniversary of the worst attack on US soil, as some PR charade. Well I don’t think that’s happening anymore lol And now our enemies know that they don’t have to fear the softest joke of a “president” to ever hold the office….

  • Many people ask “What was it all for?” Here is what the Afghan war accomplished: 1. Helped restore the damaged egos of the Americans who were demoralized when the buildings fell down. 2. Funneled 57% of the U.S. discretionary budget into the retirement accounts of the defense industry execs and their shareholders. 3. Drove a wedge between the Afghan people, creating 2 factions for a civil war, hence destroying their country and putting a bulls-eye on the heads of those who helped the occupying forces. 4. Postponed Al Qaeda’s terrorist training and planning for 20 years.
