I have had this old broken hatchet sitting in my garage for a while now and decided to give it some love / take the opportunity to make a handle from scratch for the first time.
Mistakes were made, but we learn and always aim to improve.
I used cherry for the bulk with a maple wedge and boiled linseed oil to finish it off.
I hope you all enjoy and stick around for the next project!
It looks real good after renovation. 👏👏
Thank you very much!! I am very glad to be getting the hang of recording/editing and always aim to improve!!
Great video 👍👍
Thank you very much! 😬
Good vid 👍
Thank you!
Is it just me or does the handle seem to be bass-ackwards? Looks good and thanks for taking the time.
It most definitely is and I didn't realize it until after I posted this video. We don't hide our mistakes around here and it just gives me the opportunity for a "redemption" video a bit later on. Thank you for taking the time to watch / comment! I appreciate your support!
Did you realize you mounted the handle the wrong way? You mixed front and back side.😢
well shoot. You are definitely correct there and I should have caught it. It still does what it should, albeit probably less efficiently than it should haha I am happy enough with this first attempt, but the goal is always to learn more and improve. I appreciate that you pointed this out! THANK YOU!
@@thazemakes OR a little extra wood for over swing? You thought of everything!
Yeaahhh that's it! It was all on purpose. lol :D Thank you for being so kind!!
This handle shape is turned around. 😂
Yeaaahhhhh. Mistakes were made, but we live and learn. It still works well and I can always redo it in the future :D
The square handle will hurt the hand
It doesn't feel too bad tbh, but I also don't use it for long sessions. I definitely made a few mistakes on this one, but it was a great learning opportunity and I can always revisit it in the future. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Как будто топорище наоборот????
Mistakes were made, but I'm relatively happy with this first attempt. 😊
7:15... someone stop him!!! STOP HIM !!! Who has any idea of how it is possible to fix this axe wrong way? Or he has his left hand on right shoulder, and right hand on the left? OMG...
Oh it was easier to mess up than you think. Haha That was my first video, and I was doing a lot of new things at the same time/got distracted. Will have to revisit this at some point in the future to fix it haha
@@thazemakes I have around a dozen of axes, and I made more than a hundred of handles... for me it's a... ... ... an absolutely confusing...
do you realise your handle is upside down !
Unfortunately, Yes. I did it backwards. I will have to come back to this one at some point in the future and try again haha.
