If you're new to the channel, WELCOME! If you've been with us for a long time, thank you for all your support and kind words!
We can't believe it's already been one year on this beautiful property! We have accomplished so much on this Homestead, and we couldn't be prouder of ourselves. We have so many more projects to complete, I'm not sure they will ever end!
If you are interested in purchasing Idaho Pasture Pigs/Piglets or are interested in buying pasture raised pork, shoot us an email @ thepasturedhomestead@gmail.com and we'd be happy to answer any questions you may have!

So much has been accomplished in a year and it suggests that the two of you are very focused young adults with a plan to accomplish learning as much as you can in the process and applying those experiences in ways that makes life and management of a farm much easier and sustainable. Hopefully you all are able to continue generating nothing but best in your lives and on your Farm. Keep up the good work! May you continue to obtain, and be blessed with good health 🙏, growth, success and prosperity 🙏

  • Hey Pete! New subscriber here. Just one thing I wanted to share with you, something I've heard is that turkeys and chickens should not cohabitate together. In fact, they should be completely separated - like the other side of the farm sort of thing. This is because turkeys are prone to certain diseases chickens carry. Your chickens should be OK with turkeys, but not the other way 'round! Just thought I'd give you a heads up there. That said, if you have a "pardoned" turkey in with your laying chickens, the turkey will be the "police, judge and jury" as the turkey will stop the hens pecking at each other in the hen house. So you'll find it's a lot more peaceful in there. However, that turkey may die on you and it should never be butchered and eaten.

Not to sound negative but I do hope you have a Ball Canning Book and are following USDA standards for canning there are a lot of low acid foods that can only be pressure canned such as green beans, corn and potatoes just to name a few. A lot of people do Rebel Canning so your kitchen your rules but just wanted to throw that out there since you are new to canning. Anna In Ohio
