  • This was my premier song when I went out to California to visit a friend. He lived on a sailboat somewhere in Newport. He'd have to go to work but I would just stay on the boat smokin, reading, sleeping, people watching. He also had a dog that lived on the boat with him so I wasn't completely alone when he went to work (he had a dinghy to get to shore and I would have to wake up at like 6 in the morning to take him to shore if I wanted to be able to use it while he was at work). I stayed out there for about a month, and even though we didn't do much; no clubbing or partying, or anything like that, it was one of the best times of my life. This song takes me back.

  • I'm beginning to realize that these type of songs are not meant to be heavily deconstructed lyrically, it's more about the overall atmosphere and experience of listening to the song as a whole, the feeling you get when you listen to it. Take the movie directed by Christopher Nolan, Interstellar, for instance. If I deconstructed the plot and science behind it, I would not like it, but as a whole, the awe inspiring shots combined with the epic musical soundtrack produced by Hans Zimmer make the movie worth watching again.
