RESPECT! I just started watching this channel a week or two ago, I love it! Just saw this video today and dang! With such an awesome beard, I know it had to have been hard to shave such a solid beard, that took a long time to grow. The fact that you did, to show us viewers from start to finish, is huge respect in my book! I love it!
The goal was always to be able to help brother! Glad it landed with you and we hope the content that comes with it will only help you in the future!
Always shaved neck line too high till I first saw your videos last year. . .now have 9 months growth trimming the correct way because of you (treat it like trimming a hedge). . .gives me more confidence and looks great. . .even i I say myself! When you get a comment from someone saying 'great beard' makes you feel great. Thanx bro.
Thats awesome! Glad we could help you brother!
Just found these and wish I saw it sooner! I’m 3 weeks in and messed up my neck line. Middle is good height but took the line up and angle too high. Need to made a corner about 3/4” lower. Should I start over or just let it grow and work it from there?
I’ve had a beard for about five years and the neck line is the one thing that I had to learn to adjust. Great video.
For me it’s the cheek line. The rest is easy.
Sawss
Love your videos! I'm wearing my very first beard at 53 and it's beautiful. You need a re-grow playlist to make the progress easier to find on your channel.
Dye it you look like Santa Claus
Your beard looks great!
Dis guy loves his white beard and I hate my 15-20 or so white hairs in my black beard!!! 😡💔
That’s dedication, appreciate you shaving that awesome beard off for us my boy
It's always fun to do it all over again. Also, it does improve the look of the beard and shape. Always improving. Well done, Spence.
Thanks brother! Been a LONG time since I've seen my face...glad the beard is making its way back.
My neck hair grows upwards, under my chin and my cheeks grow normal (downwards) but when my beard starts getting length they meet and push out. It makes the neckline awkward, literally had to cut off nearly a 2 year beard because I messed up trying to fix this. My beards back to an ok length but I haven't shaped it one bit because I start to sweat when I attempt the neckline ha. I felt so naked when I had to completely shave off my beard an start all over
Great instructional video! This is the exact kind of video and information I was looking for
We're always here to support you brother, so glad you liked it!
Bro great energy I needed this
Glad you enjoyed, always here to support you as we can.
Looking forward to this series of tutorials as you grow your beard back out . Thanks!
Thanks for the support brother, Ben!
My nephew is starting a beard. I asked if he had watched any videos on KZhead on how to do it right and he laughed saying "no instructions needed to grow a beard" I told him to just look up live bearded and he will see how to properly grow and beard and maintain it looking nice.
im 18 and already got a beard, gotta say this is quite helpful and now im one of the shining students at college. thanks for your help!
absolutely bro, we've always got your back!
I’m a traditional WetShaver and I use safety razors modern and vintage Gillettes along with traditional straight razors and Shavettes. I really like the Leaf Twig for under the nose and the CJB kamasori for the cheeks. I get crispy lineups every time
I don't do a neckline anymore, because my beard is very long. But when I did, a better way to trim that neckline (in my opinion and in my experience) is to give yourself a double-chin by pulling your chin into your neck. Where you see the line from the double-chin where the bottom skin of the double-chin ends, that's your line. It's more precise that way, as opposed to sort of guessing like in this video. If you have a natural double-chin, because you are fat, then you're all set.
@@benjamindavis4974 Unfortunately, you're wrong on this. The "double-chin" technique works like a charm. There's no guess work involved. You easily see the line where the double-chin ends, and that's where you put the shaving cream and shave. Easy-peasy.
@@benjamindavis4974 Hey, at the end of the day, if that's what you like, then that's really all that counts. I mean, truthfully, there's no real right way. There are no legal documents on any of this. 😀
Can confirm after trimming I tried to tuck in my neck and my double chin lined up nearly perfectly with it. Just a little higher up.
Thank you, beard guru. 🧔♂
One of the best video I had ever watched. "Just keep it simple always that's the underlying principle!" I will recommend this video to those who comes up with same problem.
Thanks a lot! Keeping it simple is the key, glad you found the video helpful. Feel free to share it with anyone facing similar beard care challenges! 😎
Always great advice!
Thanks for the support brother, glad we could help!
I’ve been using the Andis Slimline Pro T-Blade trimmers for over a year now and they are amazing for lining up your beard! They also work great for your neck hair and around ears into your sideburns/ beard as well.
The Andis is a good one!
Good video Tool Man!
I've been trimming my beard like that for over 50 years now. And you're absolutely right! If you get the lines "right" in the early stages of growing, it'll make your beard grow in very nicely! And it doesn't matter what kind of "look" you're wanting, scruffy, neat, full, go tee, handlebar mustache, or whatever, get those lines right in the early stages and it'll grow in and look great!
Absolutely my man, we couldn't agree more!
Thanks again for sharing
Thanks for posting! I got my shaving profile at work (military base) and I'm trying to get the best tips!
Gettin that chit is a sigh of relief, good for you bro! Glad we could help!
Funny how the neckline has also been something that I've had to work on, then one day I just kind of got it. Looking forward to more of these videos as there's always room to learn and improve!
We appreciate you watching brother! We have some more coming so we hope those help you too!
Great tips. Thanks man 💯
absolutely bro, we've always got your back!
Can you make a video about the beard styling tool , and how to use it
Thanks for this. Very helpful
you're very welcome my man! We're always here to support you!
Big thank you for this, i'm growing out my beard and everywhere i hear the same ; don't trim before the 4-week mark!" But my beard is growing very fast, cut myself clean April 8th, now, two weeks later, it's already growing thick everywhere and also below my adams apple, it's not the first time i'm growing it but i always outlined it around the 1.5-2 week mark because that's how fast my beard grows, always thought i was in the wrong for lining it so fast.
Not at all bro, you just need the right tactics and the right tools! Personally, I don't trim anything until the 3-5 month mark, I prefer a very large beard before I shape anything, haha
This was helpful, thanks!
Awesome brother! Thanks for watching!
nice video ! liked it so much
Good tutorial 👍
Thanks for sharing and good advice
you're very welcome!
even though the content of your videos does not pertain to me in any way , i still think what you are doing is pretty cool. raising a culture of bearded men. keep up the work Mr. viking :)

Getting there!! haha.
almost 50 now, I think I can finally grow a full beard. It's comical how far off I was to line this thing up right. Thanks for the vid!
sometimes a little time and patience is all you need! Trimming your own beard can definitely be a little daunting, but with the right guidance it's actually quite easy!
Bro I trimmed my beard before watching your video and it was my first time trimming my own beard and man, I’m regretting that I cut my own beard🤦🏻♂️. But learned something new today from the experience and by watching your video. Thanks for your help
Trimming your own beard is a feat in itself but that is why we are here, you can always reach out to us at support@livebearded.com with any questions! Always got your back.
Hey bro how are you
Great video! What brand of mirror is the one in your video? I am in the market for a new one.
I’m three months in and have no idea what I’m doing. It’s a complete mess. Will use your advice on the lines. 👍🏻
Personally i let my barber shape my beard every 3 weeks when I have my hair cut, I find he can shape it far better than I can , it’s like most things with experts, they make it look a lot easier than it is, I think you will find it money well spent 🇬🇧
Tips and tricks on using your trimmer and scissors and comb techniques etc e.g using guards on your trimmer - that would help allot of brothers out there

wow your beard grows in fast brother, I thought my beard came in fast wow hope all is well good seeing ya thanks for the video.✌💖💪🎅🚌🌻👍
Thanks brother! Fortunately it does grow pretty fast (not fast enough though!) hah. Hope you're well!
Thanks man!
No problem! You bet!
Can you guys do a stash tutorial when yours starts to grow out more, as in trimming to get the shape?
We plan on having a bunch more videos as Spencer's beard grows out, but in the meantime, check out our blog which has a bunch of videos on mustache growth and grooming - livebearded.com/search?type=all&q=handlebar
Lookin good! Lookin good! It's amazing how facial hair or there lack of changes your look. How long was your beard before you shaved it off, did you ever measure it?
Im not sure if Spence ever measured it but it was definitely between 4-6 inches!
5/14/23 🇯🇲 Good morning I'm a mom of 2 boys & this has been the most to the point CLEAR to understand & very helpful. I know repeating these steps over time I will get..... let's go for Nice or Good job Mom 😊. So here's to never giving up & the test dummies who let's us hack their hair 🥂

3:54 Helpful tip: You can use a shave gel that goes on clear so you can actually see the outline.
Great tip, thanks brother!
Thanks for the gems 💎 #beardGang
You're very welcome!
Great advice been wanting to grow a lighter beard - non hipster type well trimmed - thanks for this! How do you deal with close family and friends not liking it? Always find it hard when someone doesn't like it ''a person close to you'' I know it's confidence but people close who are not supportive still have an influence - especially when your trying something new or different.
Absolutely bro, we're always here to support you! So honestly, it's YOUR face! If they don't like, touch luck - it's not their choice! Rock it with pride!
Awesome!
I bought a 60e trimmer and it is horrible. Keeps getting caught. Even left me with a patch. Received my first shavette today! Looking to get a SR in the near future! Nice vid!
Finding the right trimmer can definitely be a pain bro! Check our LB MT-1 Trimmer, it's top-notch! livebearded.com/collections/accessories/products/beard-trimmer
Sheeesh....i can't anything close to that. Now just trying the goatee and let the bottom go down. I need a step-by-step starting wirh a baby face 🤣🥳
Just went for the first time to the barber for my beard. Trimmed the neckline which I shouldn’t have done and he trimmed it a little too high but not more than about a finger and half above Adam’s apple and cheekline too low. Not happy with the trim but both things will grow back quick
Yea first time beard trims are nerve-racking for sure. The key would be to over communicate and bringing examples to show them of what you are wanting to achieve. Hopefully you have better experiences from now on. 👍 💪 💪
Don’t know who else needs to hear this………IT WILL GROW BACK!!!
very true bro, no argument here! 😂
Hi, thank you for your video. I'm looking to buy my husband his first beard trimmer, but I'm not sure which one to choose. I feel that the Braun series whatever might not be the best option. Could you please recommend a good trimmer for a beginner and advise on how many attachments he would really need to start with? Thank you in advance!
Hey there! So we may be a tad biased, but our trimmer is definitely a contender for best on the market! Battery life is the longest available you can find anywhere, you can change the RPM's for trimming different densities of hair and it comes with 6 different attachment lengths! Check it out! livebearded.com/collections/accessories/products/beard-trimmer
I'm growing my first beard and 3 months in but I've been shaving about 3 fingers above my Adams apple. Should I start over or start letting it grow from the Adams apple line up to where it's at now? I definitely don't want a chin strap!!
A good alternative to using a razor is an electric shaver like the 5-Star, less cuts and gets really close.
Can you suggest a good zero gapped trimmer for neckline. I have some trimmers but they don’t give a clean look. I tried shaving my neckline but pimples popped up.
Great video
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Thank you.
You're very welcome my man!
So nice thanks👌
Absolutely brother!! We are always happy to help beardsmen in any way we can 💪
Man, I wish I would have seen this. I just shaved my hole beard off lfrom trying to line top off now I'm gunna grow it back and do what you said leave natural line
Self trimming can definitely be a bit daunting, that's for sure!
Great barbering skills. It also looks like you could give some fitness tips too lol
Spence is very accomplished on both of those fronts!
One thing I look forward to the most, is mustache management.. how should I trim the mustache to get it nice and thick.. it seems like my mustache hits a brick wall and never gets to that level
nice and thick? check out your genes, you got it or you don't
It'll be fun to go through that process and share how it all comes together!

Hope y'all are having a good time in Ireland dude! 👊 😎
Great video! I have a question: I almost have no hairs below my ears, so I can't really make a good backline. Do you have any tips for me?
Hey brother! I think we can help, but can you please send us a picture at support@livebearde.com so we can see what's up with your lines? Thanks for your support and we're happy to help!
Hi, what products do you recommend? For shaving / trimming etc
Hey bro! Our MT-1 trimmer is the perfect tool for any and all grooming for your beard. Multiple RPM setting, built in adjustable guards, attachable longer guards and the longest battery life you've ever seen on a trimmer! livebearded.com/collections/accessories/products/beard-trimmer
Get yourself an oldschool foil blade box razor. Wont cut hairs longer than stubble even if you wanted it to, perfect for keeping that beard line nice and crispy with minimal time once its cut in. I hate shaving with a normal razor
Great tip brother! Those old-school foil blade razors sound like a game-changer for keeping that beard line sharp with minimal effort. Thanks for sharing! 🙌
So close to 100k
we're there now!
Say just due to shaving you accidently brought your cheekline down to low, in that case should you just let your cheekline grow back naturally, or just shave it off and start over again? I have a 2 month + beard, and I really dont wanna start over, but I also wanna look good as well.
Definitely just let it grow back! Shaving it all off will take much more time, letting the cheek line fill back in will only take about a week or 2, then you won't notice it at all!
I always seem to bring the back line too far in and it ruins my whole beard. This guide was clutch appreciate you fam 💪🏼
Right on, brother, glad we could help!
Nice one
Thanks for watching!
Damn. I have to trim mine off completely now and start over. I have a chin strap lol.
Damn j can't wait till I can get a beard.
what if my cheekhair doesnt grow as high as the mustache? i naturally have a very low line, if at all on top very patchy . any recommendations?
We feel you man, A solid beard growth regimen (Dermarolling + growth serum) might help with the patchiness and raise your line! 🤝
I get 5 o'clock shadow at 9am, so my scruff looks disheveled in one day and some guys need to make clean lines even with a shadow to prevent from looking sloppy.
Old school quality safety razor used right is awesome for shaving neck. Can't do it right with a multi blade razor.
Exactly what I was gonna comment. I use a safety razor, a good quality shaving soap, a good brush, and my shaves have improved.
@@Jacob_Herron when you have the right tools you can shave silky soft. My shaving soap lathers up thick with my badger brush. Letting the soap soak in for 3-5 minutes really helps to soften the hairs for a non-aggravating shave
@@matthewjarrod2523 yep! Been shaving this way for a almost a year now and wouldn't change it for anything!
Great suggestion, brother! I hadn't shaved my neck in so long that it was new all over again.
You could also use the Philips Norelco OneBlade. It does a really good job touching up the neck line.
Great video!!!! Just that the microphone quality is destroying the whole experience. Audio is very important!!! Otherwise, all great and good 👍
My beard was about 3 or 4 inches long but I didn't like the way it grew and felt so last night I trimmed it very low to grow it back and man, I look like a baby now lol It's been a while since I had so little facial hair on my face
Hey bro, every once in a while a little restart can be a good thing! I usually do that at least once a year!
Best trimmer plz
Personally, we recommend our MT-1 Trimmer! Check it out! livebearded.com/collections/accessories/products/beard-trimmer
When trimming the neck, is it straight trim horizontally or curve it towards the ear?
Personally, I'd recommend following your jawline with more of a curve so it looks a bit more natural. Once it's longer though, if you prefer more of a squared look then the horizontal trim can work too!
I’m 27 and this is my first time growing a beard. I’m in week 2 now. Love the tips you’ve given in the video. My friends are jealous because I get the full beard, so hopefully it comes out looking nice.
that's awesome bro! Let that thing flow, best flex there is!

It's definitely a helpful tool when first starting. Appreciate the suggestion brother.
I have two finger neck line point above the atoms apple. Is that good?

How to I get a more full/thicker beard
Hey Bro! A few things that can definitely help - for one, our best boost vitamins will definitely help increase the growth rate of your hair and help it fill in a bit quicker. The derma roller can also help activate dormant beard hairs underneath the skin and help full in patchier areas! Check out our page on beard growth products here - livebearded.com/collections/beard-growth
What to do with the cheek line if your moustache is not connected to the beard?
A lot of guys will still draw the line to the top of the stache, even if there is a little space there. You can also trim the cheek line a little lower to where it does connect. Also, growing the beard and stache longer will usually cover up that gap!
Thank you for ideas From luke snyder I am Trying to Grow a beard
Always here to support you bother! Let's GO!!
A sensible video. I've a short beard and trim the way you advise anyway but it drives me mad seeing guys with the scummy growth over the neck area and zero maintenance!
Its amazing what a little bit of strategic trimming can do my friend.
This literally made me look like how I’ve been dreaming of when someone actually breaks it down. Theirs so many gate keepers on this typa stuff. Good stuff mate
Right on, brother! Glad you liked it and hope it helps!
I have a very weak chin (which is a big reason why I want a beard) and about half an extra chin. How would I do the bottom line?
You want to keep the neckline fairly low, I typically recommend a finger with above the adams apple
I always seem to get my neckline wrong. It never quite looks right which usually results in me shaving it all off after several months of growth and then starting all over again. 🙄
trimming your own beard can definitely be a bit daunting! Less is more when doing trims. My father always told me growing up, you want to shape the neckline along the same line that you would slit someones throat 😂 as graphic as that may sound, it helps. You want the line to be right above the adams apple and keep an even swoop going up both sides to the ear!
2:01 this was helpful for me
