We have 2 puppies - now 6 months old. They WERE awesome at sleeping through the night, but now one of them has started whining about 2 hours after bedtime, and then every 2 hours after that. I take her out for potty and she goes back to sleep, but only for 2 (or less) hours at a time. If I don't get up, she start's barking and waking up the other puppy (and our older dog). What could be the cause of this - especially after 6 months?
We have a new Maltipoo who is not food motivated. I've subscribed and watched the 30 day to puppy perfection - but I think we are reaching PANIC at night. We are trying to feed him in the crate and be very positive but as we have no "lure" this is really becoming difficult. Any resources for him? thanks!

I’m starting on week three of being up every 2 hours. I have a 11 week old 3.2 Lb Shih Tzu puppy. His bladder control is about an hour during the day. I pick up the water dish about 3 hours before we go to bed and he’s up every 2 hours…I was really not expecting this, at 72, I’m beyond exhausted. He hates the crate. I’ve fed him in it, played games with it. He screams like I’m murdering him if I put him in it to try to get something done, like clean pee off the floor that he’s walked through, after we were out less than an hour ago. The breeder said he was litter box trained, using alfalfa pellets. He only wants to eat them and peed next to the box when I had it down. Pee pads are a toy to him. Any ideas, anybody? P.S. I still love him.❤

@@jacquelinekohn2082 I got mines at 4 weeks old . He is 9 weeks now . I only had issues the first two weeks , second week wasn’t as bad . First few nights I let him sleep in my room since he was so little and had ti be away from his mom so soon . After I got him in his crate and started training him to use his pee pad . It was a lot of work since he would cry most of the night and ignoring him was hard . I would set up a timer during the night to know when he was crying cause he needed to go and not cause he wanted to get out . After 3 nights in his crate , he stop crying , plus adding a white noise machine and a fan help a whole lot like explain in this video . I also did the timer throughout the day to know when he needed to go and always took him to his pee pad even when he had accidents . Got him a bunch of toys and a play pen so that he can get more comfortable with being in his crate . I played with him for 30m to an hour before bed to tire him out too and that helps with him sleeping longer . I give him dinner 3 hours before bed and a simple snack Ike an hour before so that he stomach is full and won’t wake up early to want to eat . Also I don’t run to him when he cries unless I know that it is cause he has to go . When he want to get out the play pen I wait till he stop crying to let him out . He plays in the living room all day long with all his toys , I only allow him entrance to other areas if he is with me . He is almost 10 weeks now and can leave him alone with no worries . He plays, sleep and uses his pee pad all by himself . He knows his name and comes when I call him . He won’t even eat his food until I tell him that it is okay . It takes patience but they get it little by little . Also watching all this KZhead videos help . If one thing didn’t work I tried a different method from a different KZhead video . My 12 week old pup cried for around 3 minutes in her crate before falling to sleep when she was 8 weeks old. Now she takes herself to her crate when she gets sleepy already and she’s only 12 weeks!!!! I’m so proud of her! She wakes me up to say “mumma I gotta go to the toilet”. She’s an Australian cattle dog though so I’m not surprised she picked up on it quickly

I hate you 😑 Only because I'm jealous. My pup is 8 weeks and we're on day two together and I pray he learns to love his crate like yours. He's flipping out right now despite all his needs being met, going out once an hour and keeping his crate at eye level by my bed.
@@timothyevo hot water bottle, a fan or clock ticking for white noise, a shirt you’ve worn during the day (it’ll have your scent and if you put it in the dryer for 10-15 minutes before putting it in the crate it’ll help your pup. Sleep next to the crate but don’t give your pup any attention at all. Feed treats and give toys in the crate when it’s not bed time (never feed outside of the crate). These are the tips I can give you...cover the crate if you can as well Unfortunately you’ll have to let your pup cry it out but eventually they come to love crates as it’s kinda like a bedroom but for a dog. Nova takes herself to sleep every night, she now shares an XL crate with her non biological brother Red (Australian cattle dog as well). Best tip I can give you for this breed is make sure you wear out their brain as much as possible. They are working dogs yes but if you’ve even seen them in action you’ll know they’re not constantly using their body but they are constantly using their brain when working. Make sure you mentally stimulate your pup (more than you would for any other breed, these dogs can be sooooo difficult but once you hit the 18 month mark I will all have been 1000000% worth all the hard times. Mental stimulation is an absolute must for this breed or they become aggressive, destructive, yappy problem dog. They also really really need socialisation with EVERYTHING...anything you can see or think of is what you need to socialise your pup with. Diets are extremely important for any dogs health but especially working breeds. I’m more than happy to email you my research on dog nutrition that I had to write up when doing my animal courses. I personally have found that Raw diets work best but that doesn’t mean only feeding meat, raw diet still requires vegetables, grains, omegas, supplements ect. Eg: I feed my boy 500g a day. He gets a raw meaty marrow bone for the morning (bone is bigger than his head to prevent choking and only given when supervised) At night he gets meat, chicken necks, chicken hearts, 1/2 cup of cooked long grain brown rice, blueberries, carrots, steamed broccoli, peas & corn, salmon, tuna, sardines, 2 eggs, 2 crushed egg shells, 2 tbps of olive oil, dog yogurt, probiotics and rosehip vital It seems like a lot but that’s a healthy raw balanced diet. Dogs who shouldn’t go on it are ones with liver issues, pancreatitis, going through chemo, or been on antibiotics in the last 4 months for example. Chicken is the most common meat to cause allergies if any food will do if a dog reacts to its food it’s always a good idea to remove the chicken from the diet. I’m so sorry this turned into a rant type thing, I just love giving information and spreading knowledge when I can. If you’re interested in the research on raw diets flick me a message on Instagram ( @nova_theblue_acd ) High kibble is okay but not for being the only source of nutrition... just like apples are good for us but not nutritious enough to be our only source of nutrition. I don’t feed my dogs “pet food” because it’s not human grade and pet food companies can literally add plastics, poisons ect in small amounts (which will still harm your dog) without going against the law. A dog food company here in Australia is called “big dog” and they’re the only food company I trust because they add everything a raw diet needs like I listed above before and only use human grade foods so I could cook it and eat it myself. A good diet, good exercise, mental stimulation and your scent will help your pup sooooo much with sleeping and just behaviour in general (highly recommended high reward treats for training time and a herding ball) So sorry this turned into a massive essay. If you need any advice let me know, I’ve grown up with this breed my whole life with everyone around me always owning at least 2 but I also went and studied 4 courses related to animals so if you ever need a hand just flick me a message and I’d be happy to help

It can definitely take some adjustment for some puppies to feel comfortable in their crate. This takes time, but mostly training! Through fun training games and positive association, you can help your puppy learn to rest and relax while in the crate. While teaching our puppies to be comfortable being alone, we also have to make sure they are not experiencing so much anxiety that they are in panic mode. If they panic to the point of digging, drooling, screaming, soiling or almost hurting themselves, we are creating a negative experience with the crate. At that point, there is no learning going on. Understanding canine body language will be very important during this time of crate training. Knowing what is normal puppy fussing as he/she learns to self soothe and what is panic will help determine your next steps. Of course, making sure all your dog’s needs are met before going in the crate is also a key part of this equation. I consider myself lucky that when i got my puppy 3 months ago, he did not fuss on his first night. I just popped him in his crate, with his favorite stuffed animal, and he immediately went out like a light. It was me who fussed and tossed and turned all night because i kept the light on, since his previous owner claimed that he cannot sleep with the lights off. I was able to sleep with the lights off on the second night, although i did keep a small night light on for around a week or two.

Our Meadow did not do this before, but she got gastritis and during that period she would cry to go to the balcony to poop. Now she knows she can get our attention and she wakes us up even though she's fine (health wise).
I love your videos and I find the way you interact with dogs to be great. Thank you. I have an 8 week old miniature dachshund. I've only had her a couple of days. Her anxiety is immense. If I leave the area, even go to the other side of the room, she cries. If I close the door of her crate for 1 second (literally) she cries. I attempted to leave her a few seconds and allow a break in the crying so as not to "reward" it, and she got so frantic I was worried she would injur herself. I want to avoid creating a dog with separation anxiety but this little one is next level. I'd appreciate any help you can offer.

She started whining then almost reached panic after a few moments, even though both doors were open. After she realised the doors were open she jumped out and was calm again. I'm really worried about trying anything other than having her go in and out with the doors open, because I'm concious of creating negative associations. Do you think the exercises in the program are sufficient? Or do you think I need something more?

@@ShierChaplin my baby princess is an absolute darling and I love her. Her anxiety is certainly better. I can be in another room of the house. She is crate trained overnight and sleeps 10 hours in a crate in the lounge room. She is great with most people and many dogs. But I can't leave her alone in the house. I have consulted trainers, vets, and now I'm working with a specialist behavioural vet, who is great. My puppy is now medicated. Last night I left her for an hour and she was fine, but it's been a long long road. I have become friends with many dachshund owners, and most of them seem to have anxiety. I'd suggest employing a specialist behavioural vet sooner rather than later, to nip things in the bud. Videos are fine, and online courses are helpful, but there's nothing like an in- home consultations and personalised program with meds where necessary.
It's a bit tricky for me. Due to fibromyalgia and possible rheumatoid arthritis, I need almost 12 hours a night...but Sasha's learned to use the puppy pads (shocks the heck out of me, she's barely 7 weeks old), so I can keep her in the crate for 6-8 hours and then baby gate her in the puppy-proofed bedroom with me for a few more hours after a morning walk. :)
After adjusting the feeding schedule to a bit late at night 7pm I huge change happened. The puppy stop having night time accidents. He is 10 weeks old now. Last pee break is 11pm and then 4.30am. After that he stays happy sleeping till about 7am. I stop the water til dinner time. Never again I had to clean his crate do it an accident. Thanks for all your great advice. Another point to consider is to feed the dog with quality food and good nutrients. This will help the puppy to have less need to go multiples time to go potty.

@@suzycloud official bed time is 10ish.. Then I carry him outside about 11pm again till 4.30pm. As for today and a lot if sacrifice (sleeping sacrifice lol) Still official bed time 10pm then 11.30ish last time pee break till 6.15 - 6.30 am. The trick for sure was moving dinner time in our case. This is how we help puppy self-soothe (which is a necessary skill to learn). We also have to do our due diligence to make sure all their needs are met. Has he been well exercised, including increasing the exercise as he grows? Does he need a little more food, or maybe food at a different time? Did he nap too late or too much and now he’s not sleepy? Did he get enough mental exercise for his active growing brain? Does he need a potty break? While it is important to teach our puppies to be OK with being alone, we also have to keep them under threshold (panic mode) while doing so. If they panic to the point of having an accident or borderline hurting themselves, we are creating a negative experience.
The Tips that she said was so Helpful
My puppy came to me at 6 mo. She had a lot of fear issues and I’ve made headway with her. She is now almost 9 mo. She slept in the crate cooperatively (but it felt like it was a fearful submissive thing to me). Daytime crate was not to be. This week I got intent on helping her in the day. She is going in willingly using your method!!! But now guess what - the last week she is not a happy camper at night. I feel like it’s an okay cry for a while but after 30 min it turns to panic. Since she came with fears I’m super careful to do lots of positive reinforcements in every area. What to do? Should I give in and put her in bed with me and work on bringing nighttime back in at some other point? I’m mostly okay with that. Overall I want her to be comfie in a crate tho.
I would look at the schedule and see where you can add in more enrichment, mental and physical exercise. At 6 months she has a lot more energy now than when she first came home. When a pup can't settle at night we need to see where we can adjust durng the day to provide them more outlets to release pent up energy. Be sure there is always a cool down period before bed, we can't put a pu in a crate that was just running and playing, all that adrenaline is still pumping through them. It's too hard for them to settle. Just like humans need a cool down after a workout, our pups do too. My 6 month old pup will sleep great in her crate til about 3. After a potty break she goes back to crate but will cry forever and never go back to sleep even when ignored for 30 minutes or more. Crate is covered and she is ignored when crying but still won’t settle back down.
It will be important to work with your puppy on his/her confidence in the crate outside of the time he/she has to use it. Hello :) Our puppy is a 2 months old mixed Malinua, sleeping in a crate. In the video you said it's best to come to the puppys when they call us at night to take them out for potty, as apposed to waking them up for it. Our puppy cries 5-6 times a night! We never know if this time it's for potty or not, so we take her out each and every time she calls. We are exhusted! In this case, wouldn't it be better to put an alarm for when we believe she sould want to go potty (every about three hours or so) and ignore the crying when it happens? Thanks, Mor.

I slept two hours last night. We have a brand new puppy this week (12 weeks old) And he didn't want me to close the crate door. However he wanted to lay next to it on the floor. So i left the crate door open and let him sleep on the floor (took him out a couple times for potty before) Eventually, he walked in the crate himself and slept in it. I kept looking to see how he was doing and barely got some shut eye. The night before, he slept through pretty good until i took him out potty at 2:30am and he went back to sleep. Needless to say, it was a veeery rough experience because now i am at work with a massive headache.

@@shayanjafar5753 Good luck. Pup's is doing better. A great tip is, have him have food and drink like 3 hrs before you go to bed. So I feed/water him at 8pm and I take him out around 11-11:30pm. That way you won't have to get up early morning.

Hello!!!! Your KZhead Channel is amazing!!! I’ve been meaning to ask someone and I don’t know who to ask. Hopefully you’ll help me! I know dogs get used to everything while they are puppys and that we have to be intentional. My question is: I’ve noticed that music to help anxiety for dogs works on my 4 month old pup who is barely starting to learn to sleep by himself in the crate (and she cries a lot at night)… but some people say that she’ll get used to the music and then she is going to have to sleep with music forever! I don’t want her to grow depending on the music to sleep, but I also have seen that it actually helps for now so I don’t know what to do! She is a Siberian husky… please help! Thank you!

Is giving treats and or a chew in the crate effective to improve sleeping through the night? My puppy crate trained easily at 10 weeks, but at 6 months she is waking up twice one 4 am potty break was her usual, now she whines at 4:45 and at 5 am I finally got up with her.
You may want to check that there have been no changes in the environment that may be affecting her ability to sleep through the night. For example, if your puppy has long fur, there may not enough air flow near her crate!

I brought my 7wk puppy home and right away started create training, 1st couple of nights was a nightmare. Puppy would not sleep and cried all night. Today is my 3rd day with my Shih Tzu puppy. The first night she cried and work up to potty 3 times. 2nd day 2 times. Fingers crossed it's only once today but even though I had little sleep I'm happy I have her. I love her so much her name is Pinto and everything she wakes up it takes about an Hr for her to go back to sleep. My puppy sleeps peacefully in the crate. I tried the doggy playpen and she did not like it as much. She only crys when she has to potty.

My problem is the breeder let the puppies sleep in the bed with them. So when I brought her home she whined and screamed for over an hour I finally had to put her in bed with us. So I have been putting her in a pen to eat and when I have to do stuff. If course she whined and screams. My husband has anxiety and can't take the long term whining. What do you suggest? I have 3 other dogs and need her to be created when we leave did her safety. I have to leave for 7-8 hours a day except for weekends, I’m not sure whether I should leave her in the crate The Whole time or leave her in a puppy playpen
We always recommend a pup stay in a crate when you are away from home. This way pup won't attempt to crawl the pen or jump out, or even jump on it and move it across a room. Pups can only hold their bladder for 1 hour per month of age so a new pup might only be able to hold it about 1-3 hours. This means you may need to look into a dog walker who can let pup out a few times a day until your pup is old enough to hold their bladder longer throughout the day.
We got our puppy just a couple days ago, and sadly it’s not the best weather right now with negative 30 or colder degrees. I tried feeding him and going outside after half an hour for 5 minutes, he just tugged his tail under himself sat and tried to warm himself on my feet, it’s like he can’t potty outside. Even when he started doing the thing and I carried him outside as soon as possible he just stopped and did the same thing when freezing and was whining when I tried to pull him by the leash, so I carried him back home after like 5-7 minutes, as soon as we got back- he did the thing, I don’t know what to do, we gonna try to train potty him with clothes on, but he just doesn’t seem to like going outside. So for now while we can’t train him outside we use pads, and he seems to know that he needs to pee on them. Throughout the day we keep him in the crate and he seems all okay, no crying all good, but at night he just whines and it’s impossible to stop, we tried coming to him, letting out the crate so he can potty. Then when he did we put him back in and he still cries, we try crate training him, during the day he’s all okay, but as soon as we leave him alone at night he cries, so far I noticed he falls asleep like at 10-11pm and wakes up at 3-4am, we look for comfort, his crate is pretty good not too big, not too small size for him, we have some warm blankets for him, and a toy that smells like his mom. All the comfort is there, even played before bed to get him tired. Made sure he potty, but crying doesn’t stop, we even tried to ignore the crying but it just got louder and worse, please help!

I just got my 8 week year old and what is helping her is having her older brother and cousins plus her cat sister welcome her with open arms. I use the towel method and put calming music in the background. Her crying seemed to decrease by alot
Be sure to work on crate training so she can feel comfortable being alone. You don't want her to rely on humans holding her in order to sleep. That's not sustainable for a lifetime.

Hi I liked your video and advice. We just rescued a tiny 2 pound teacup poodle male. We have a small cage and a large cage. 2 floors 26 steps. I have his cage near my bed. First night perfect 2&3 not whippers he stopped and started again later. I got up 5am he had to go, today he waited 7:10 nothing in the cage. But I slept total 4 hours. We are happy you are enjoying the videos. It's good to cover the crate completely. It will cut down on outside noises and light that could keep him awake. We usually recommend leaving one side open (the back) for airflow. But most puppies do better if they can't see their owners. He knows you are there, I promise! 👃
Hi I did it last night almost to the floor, left opening . But he slept through the night . He’s so small 2-3 pounds. He follows my feet, pulls my pants and tries to bite my shoes, I have to stop this. He needs to walk. Ps I usually brush our other dog WestiePoo 16 pounds rescue. We are having the same issue with our Maltipoo. She was sleeping throughout the night after a week we got her (she was 2 months old) she recently had her spay procedure so we had her sleep in one bedroom For 3 nights so we can hear her when she is awake and in pain and now she doesn’t want to sleep on her crate. I am getting a puppy. Still not born yet lol. It will be Labrador/Huskey. I go to bed around 9pm and wake up at 6am for work. I work 7am-3pm so I am home from about 3:30pm-6:30am. I never knew what to do with my first dog. My first one was Labrador/Pitbull names Peanut. Any way I am not sure what to do if the crying starts and also not sure what I need to do as far as schedules and training. Any advice on what I need to do. Labrador/Huskey

Hello, our puppy is about 18 months and was fully crate trained and would happily sleep in his crate and sleep through the night. He now will only be OK in the day (e.g. if we go out and put him in the crate) and at night he'll bark relentlessly if we put him in there and now sleeps in our bed. I have done so much research on how to solve this, any help would be so so appreciated. Thank you!
It's hard to know what's going on but it sounds like your dog would prefer your bed now that he's had a chance. If you're committed to the crate then you'll want to revisit crate training, including the games, to help him love it again. You'll also want to make sure the crate is still comfortable for him (he's probably a lot bigger than he was when he was a puppy) and also that it's comfortable in terms of temperature. Finally, make sure his schedule during the day meets his need for mental and physical exercise. If dogs haven't fully expended all their mental and physical energy they can have a harder time at night.

I usually head to bed around 930 my pup likes to come and lay down next to the bed near me til my husband takes her our around 10-1030. She usually sleeps well til about 330-400 then I take her out but after that she wont go back in the crate so i let her come lay in our room on the floor next to me til we get up at 6. This is a "good" night My husband is anxious to have her sleep all night in her crate. She is almost 8months and she is a 50lb Lab

I don’t usually comment things like this, but I’m a new dog mom owner & this puppy is only 11 weeks. However even thought I haven’t made it through the first day completely with having him, I do know that it kind of stressing me out, & making me cry because it’s so much that I do, & it seems like he probably just needs more time to adjust. I been playing soft white noise, or dog music for easy sleep but it only seems to calm him down, but as soon as I want to put him in his cage, he starts to panic. Any good ideas?

I can get my puppy to sleep for about 2 hours, and then at about 12:30 she wakes up crying. Well, it starts as a cry then turns into a bark or howl. we adopted an older puppy that was dumped by the side of the road and my friend asked if we wanted him. We said yes, we have a 9 yr old chihuahua , at first the new puppy which is around 5-6 mths old maybe a cross between a lab and great paraeneses (unsure) was doing great going into the kennel he was quiet and shy at first we have had him for going on 2nd week. he has gotten used to us and the house and the yard. he is very playful and does not want to listen . he thinks everything is his toy. working on that! our chihuahua hates him, gos at him all the time. I have been watching your videos, and I see I have been doing some of the things wrong and will start to correct them. now I force him into his crate when I leave for work in am and at bedtime. I gave him the run of the yard last nite (so tired of the fight) and this morning he had all my fall decor and had tipped over the bird bath, thankful it didnt break did not go into the garage to see what damage was in there, (as the door is left somewhat open at the bottom for our cat that hates him too to go in and out) I am at my witts end with this puppy (Willie) why did he do good at first and now hes a monster ???
Willie might have been more compliant at first because he was stressed from the big transition. Now he's settling into your home and he's a little more relaxed. His antics are frustrating but normal for a puppy his age and so new to your home. It's important not to force him into the crate, this could only make his association worse. Hello! Just wondering if you have any suggestions for a four month old puppy who will not sleep through the night. He wakes me up at about 2 in the morning. I take him out, and he goes to the bathroom and we go back to bed. Every time I take him out he goes to the bathroom, so I know that he doesn't just want to get out of his kennel. He sleeps in my bedroom in a kennel near my bed. We've had him in our living room, but he just soils his kennel. We don't feed him any "human food" he just gets the recommended amount of dog food for his weight. On Sundays we leave him for about 10 hours and he doesn't go to the bathroom on the floor of his enclosure. We give him his dinner at 5 and he gets nothing after that. He gets no water before bed. I run him around every night at about 10 and make sure he goes both poop and pee. Is this something he will grow out of?
A lot of puppies aren't sleeping through the night at 16 weeks. If he is going potty when you take him out, then it's important to continue to take him out. As he grows and his bladder gets stronger this will get better. We don't recommend restricting water entirely anymore. Just offer small amounts in the evening so he doesn't become too obsessed with it if it's not available.
Just got a puppy 3 nights ago and crate training isn't working. I have tried making it a positive place however she is still crying for hours in the crate before I finally decide I need my sleep and end up laying her next to me. Oh no, it sounds like pup has tipped over threshold. This means she won't be able to setttle while in there. Training outside the time you need to put her in the crate is crucial. This needs to be broken down into smaller bite-sized lessons she can handle right now.
My puppy is beagle 8-9 week old and when left alone he start to cry, in day my puppy was sleeping in the box and the box we use is a cardboard box and not a closed crate, and it is kept in a open balcony so he can go around and do potty but it still cry all night, like this is 2nd night we have him, and last night he cried so much, that at 3 in night i have to pick him up and i let him sleep with me, it will happen today also what to do, we put him to sleep around 10 Pm or later and till that time everything is done for him. All the things are done. It’s not about pee or potty with him it’s only about attention.
It's going to take some time before he feels comfortable being alone, but you can start on that now by doing training games where you slowly increase your distance and duration away. Instead of a crate can I use a doggy bed instead? I know it’s not as restrictive but I want to not have them in crates
The crate, without a bed at first, is what we recommend for safety of the puppy and your home. It also helps the puppy rest because they can't get up and roam around. Puppies are not too good at putting themselves down for a nap and often get overtired. So watching the schedule and putting him/her in the crate when it's naptime is the best plan.

Well , or you are doing something very wrong , or your puppy Has some really really bad psychologic problem. Its not normal puppy still cries after 2 months... Usually it takes a few days to a couple weeks to stop the crying

Second night of having our eight week puppy. I had to sleep on the couch with her last night. Tonight she cried for about 10 minutes and then went to bed, hoping she makes it through the night. All her needs have been met though, she pood and pottied and got play before we put her in her crate
A little cry for 10 minutes is OK! Just not too much longer than that. Be sure to play fun crate games and create a positive association with it during the day. It sounds like she'll love it in a very short time!
About a month ago, my ten year old dog got diagnosed with cancer. We thought it would be a good idea to get a puppy so he could be friends with my dog while he has little time left. Our new puppy is 4 months old and we’ve had him for about 3 weeks. My mom takes care of him at night but he hasn’t been sleeping. He barks and barks and it overwhelmed my mom. She has been up with him until 2 am for like 2 weeks and I don’t know what to do. The dogs aren’t really getting along because every time the puppy sees my other dog, he jumps on him. What do I do?
Hello! Your older dog probably has some aches and pains, and is not interested in the puppy antics, which are energetic and mouthy. It's best to keep the puppy away from the older dog if he's jumping. Use baby gates or a puppy pen to contain the puppy and allow the older dog to have the same space he's always had. As for the crying in the crate, if you watched this video and still need more help, it's time to work on this with crate games. Keep in mind that as part of the crate training process we can't let the puppy have ongoing negative experiences in the crate, as this will only create a negative association. I have a " wierd " work schedule. 11 am 7 pm half hr for lunch 2 15 min breaks . ( My other dog and parrot are fine with it ( come home twice lunch and I put my breaks together..to let my pets out. ) . I unexpectedly wound up with a puppy..he gets really loud. I ve kinda got him to quiet by saying shh sh ch I'm here. And stick my finger in the crate. I've only had him two days. He's recently weaned ..thank goodness my older dog is very tolerant. ( He goes to potty with her. He's in the same room, my dog, ag parrot, now him. But he's in a crate at night or rest time. My house is a tiny house..I don't let him sleep with me. My other dog does..sometimes. as long as I don't let him out, is it ok to say shh you're ok, and stick my finger in? It seems to quiet him .

My dog would throw up yellow bile early in the morning but I knew right away it was from hunger most likely low blood sugar since I get it too so I was able to fix that by giving her more food before and it went away

I feel like crying is all I can do right now and I have done more than that. I have a 9 weeks Cockapoo and she cries all night. I think she only gets about 30 mins sleep at a time. I’m an older woman with a 3yr old son, who also works in early childcare so adding a puppy to my already hectic schedule kind of was a mistake. I also feel like the person I got her from was pushing her off on me to soon to be away from her mother, she’s just turning 7weeks old, the first 8 weeks she should’ve still been home with mom and siblings 😞. It’s definitely a lot right now, but I’m hoping the crying and howling will stop. I’ve also taken three weeks off from work because I’m having issues with my eyes (before I got pup) but getting a puppy right now was definitely an added addition I really didn’t need at the moment. As you says that you are busy I would recommend to you to get your puppy on a dog school so that it can learn everything necessary. And I don’t want to let you feel bad or something but I’ve heard that you shouldn’t get a puppy most of the time when you a little kid. I don’t know if it’s true or not. As you said you’re busy and that was also an other reason beside the puppy blues I’ve got and the howling I realized that my parents and me and my brother are pretty busy and we don’t have the time for taking care of a little puppy which needs so much attention and time. I also recommend to buy an open-air enclosure so that you’re puppy can’t run in the whole house and so that it won’t bite your son. Get some help from puppy trainers and as I said if you can get a puppy trainer. I’m looking forward for you so that things get better!🌸

Until your puppy gets used to their new surroundings and routine, he may cry for attention. You’ll first need to determine if all the needs have been met, and also work on crate training with him. I have a 7 month old puppy that always slept the whole night. He was neuterd a couple weeks ago, so I am not sure its hormomomal, or maybe the crate is to small, but he won't stop. That sounds so unfortunate, we're so sorry. It seems like there's not much you can do in the short period of time that you'll be babysitting this pup. We recommend giving this pup something to lick for bedtime. You'll also want to make sure her emotional cup is full before bed, with activities like decompression walks, chews, puzzle feeders, etc.

I’ve got an 11 week old springer spaniel puppy I picked her up Friday! Since then we’ve had 3 nights of non stop howling! We’ve resulted to sleep downstairs on the couch!! I have a 11 week old, soon to be 12 and he panics in the crate. He is okay when I let him in the play pin to sleep but I know that wont always be there like the crate. I covered the crate and he starts digging and crying, he also tries to bite the top and sides of the crate. At first I was hoping he would self soothe but he panicked for 4 hours straight so I know it's something more that needs to be dealt with. He eats there just fine with the door closed. I feed him by hand through the door. After zoomies during the day, I place him in there and he cries for a few minutes and sleeps just fine. At night I feed him a small meal at around 9 so his belly is full and play with him a bit before bed. The first couple hours are okay but after going outside to use the bathroom and coming back in, that's when the panic sits in for the rest of the night from 2am onward.

my puppy is 14 weeks and seems to have gone backwards with sleep/crate training! For the past couple of weeks she's been able to sleep from 9pm - 6am without needing to get up to pee. over the past week though she's been whining and crying in the crate even after taking her out to potty and doesn't settle down at all. Pro tip: If they have bonded to you take your tshirt off that you wore that day and put it with them, instant quiet. Entire nights rest. It's the smell, if they can smell you the puppy thinks you are right with them and they are comforted. You are welcome
You can do this, but you'll want to put it on top of the crate, as we wouldn't want them to chew on the shirt and risk a choking hazard!

Everytime I have tried to let my puppy cry it out he has pooped even after he had already pooped like 15min before when I had him outside.

Why can’t you place the crate beside your bed where she sees you sleeping so u can get some sleep?
That's an option for many people and it can definitely work well for some puppies. Just watch to make sure that your movements aren't causing the puppy to wake up more. It's a lot of trial and error but if your puppy does better with the crate closer to you, that's fine.
