No offense, I love your content and this video is no exception, but my question is, when it comes to "History of the iPhone" documentary style videos, why is there never one that goes into the actual "making of" process? Why is there never a video that talks about how the design came to be, how the overall idea was conceived? What was the inspiration behind it and were there different models/prototypes that they went through? I know there's stories about how it went through different code names, but that's about all you get as far as its development goes. I'd be much more interested in a video like that, rather than the 100th video talking about how the iPhone changed the world and the legendary Steve Jobs presentation. We've heard all that before, I want more juicy details.
Jobs actually talked about it with the New York Times back in 2009. He stated he was in "Awe" of a Samsung Prototype he saw in 2004. He said his goal was to "be half as brilliant as Samsung". I think we can all agree he definitely made his wish come true. Although The Iphone doesn't have the innovation of The Samsung Fold Apple is still a good product.

💯 agree! While it was a nice “feature updates across the years” video with a few notable stories…it was not what I expected with the title of “History of the iPhone”. I wanted more details about why said features were (or in most cases, weren’t) included in each model.
Sadly the sources for most of that information either no longer work at Apple or are deceased.
I know a guy did a good documentary on the iPod, but sadly that's not what you're looking for.
Always excited for the annual History of the iPhone video
used 6s ever since launch, fits me perfectly cause I don't even use my phone that often and it has a headphone jack
I appreciate this video, but please don’t promote Full Sail. I went through 2 separate programs there, spending all of my money saved for college, and was basically laughed at by every company who I had applied for jobs with afterward, upon hearing I had gone there. I was out of money, couldn’t find a job, and upon trying to audit classes that I was told I’d be able to after graduating, was told that their degree programs had changed and I could no longer audit as the programs levels had changed. Once I finished as well, their placement department basically left me on my own. They are a very for-profit school, and I still don’t think they care about their students. Only their bottle line. But I’ll give them one thing, they know how to market themselves. They should teach that.
At the iPhone 14 section beginning, you say the entry level has a "1.6 inch display". Just a small thing.

@@arthursoaresrodrigues4766 Apple Explained always forgets the SE 3. Ha ha 🤣
@@JeremiahHino10 I thought the same thing
upgraded from iPhone 7 to 14 Pro my first reaction was “Oh dear, everyone are enjoying this kind of speed already?!”
Till iOS 16 buggy updates killed the thrill😂
I remember getting the iPhone 4 for the first time, felt like a product from the future, cant get that feeling anymore
Apple’s Vision Pro gives that feeling ngl
The iPhone 4 was my first iPhone, god, I treasured that thing for years, even as the 4s and all the 5 models came out. I upgraded to the 6 eventually and got the same feeling again.
Love these type of videos
I suggest for your next upload is to use chapter timestamps but, great video btw.
all i gotta say is this video was well done & said 🤙
My first ever cell phone was the 6s that I bought at 19 years old, then the 2020 SE, and now I’m with a 13 mini. The small form factor and flat design is soo pleasant to hold. Battery is incredible, and it comes in this beautiful green (:
I've got the 13 Mini Green amazing phone👍👍👌👌
@@ertannebi3181 It is! Beautiful colour.
Nice! My first cell ever was a little flip Samsung phone with t9 texting. 😂 rocking a 13 pro now and it’s amazing.
13 mini is an amazing phone! I’m hoping we can find one for my wife when she is ready to upgrade (she went from 4s to the original SE, and is now on SE 2020). My trajectory was a bit different, started on 5c, went to 6s, 11 Pro, and now 13 Pro (would still be on the 11 if my screen didn’t break). I used to think the 6s - 8 design was my favorite size, but I grew to love the 11 Pro and now 13, though I occasionally find times I wish it was more useable with one hand. Good to see there are some out there who still love the smaller offerings. I may have moved on myself, but I truly hope that Apple doesn’t stop making them (next SE better use a design like the XR though, can’t imagine people would choose an iPhone 8 body at this point even if it has top notch internals lol)
My first ever iPhone was the 3GS. Then I got the 4S, later the 5C, followed by the 7, and now I have the 12 in the light purple. I just got this one paid off so I don’t plan to upgrade anytime soon.
Love the content.
This is absolutely a masterpiece!
I love when you upload
Thanks. This was a great presentation.
This is fire when new vids come out I love you guys thanks for haloing him to come to this
Great iPhone documentary Greg! Looking forward to more Apple documentaries!!
Hi, Greg, I hope you'd appreciate a comment here, but I believe the volume in this specific video is sort of low compared to the others. Hope it helps! I love your content, keep going!
It's a great video for making Case Study.
well done greg
Greg, you’ve done it again! GREAT video. Thanks for making it longer than 3 minutes. We like the 10-30 minute videos too! 🙂
2:48 Jim sending Dwight faxes 🥺🥺🥺
5 was my first iPhone. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years now. I still have some of the old messages from 2013 in my 14 Pro.
5C, 5S or 5?
I'm sure your video would become top trending if you made a history, and making of as someone else suggested, perhaps a long "documentary." Loving your vids, Greg.
5s / 6s Plus / X / Xs Max / 12 Pro / 14 Pro Max
Of all the iphones made and sold there are a few that were absolutely my favorite the first one being the iphone 4s hands down then followed by the 7 Plus,XS Max and now the iPhone 14 pro max
My first iPhone was the 3GS. I personally think, to this day, that the design of the iPhone 4 / 4S was the best design iPhone has ever had. It was just stunning. Even by today's standards it holds up. I also deeply miss TouchID. I hate FaceID with a passion. It's slow, doesn't work half the time if you're wearing sunglasses or a hat, and God forbid you get a finger smudge on the camera / sensors in the "notch."
You might want to add iPhone 15 series into the mix. The changes are pretty siginificant
That water sip lol 😂
Cool video.
i love holding my mums old 3gs next to my 14 pro it just shows how much apple as inovated and changed through the years
man I miss the cover flow iPod feature that iPod touches and iPhones used to have!
It’s really cool and interesting to see how drastically the iPhone has evolved since 2007.
Great video, thanks for your upload!!11OneOneEleven
This is cool

Nice video
How do you know it's a nice video if you didn't have the change to watch it? The video has been released 1 minute ago and it's 28 mins long
The normal 14 is a great phone if you had a old iPhone. I will not be upgrading until the 16 or 17 when the is more stuff for the dynamic island. They had not cut normal 14 sales but the plus they already did
I have the iPhone 3G, but screen isn’t working right and I am planning to fix it soon
Gregory
I went from Xs Max to 13 pro max and I’m on upgrading from the 13 pro max to 15 pro max or Ultra (name to be debated until the 📣 announcement 📣)
But the problem is which model to choose, I'm considering my first iPhone soon, probably by Christmas
15:00 Ohh 3D Touch. how I miss you
I first had the iPhone 6, then the 6s; now I have the 12 mini
How is the battery life, the 12 mini got so much hate because of the terrible battery life.
@@123theprodigy5 not good
Great Video, i really enjoyed the documentary. It‘s nice how you‘ve captured all the changes Apple has made.
Nice
Actually the iPhone 4s got a 64GB option. I remember getting the 64GB 4s as my first smartphone
This is one of the best phones ever made I love iPhones
My first iphone was iphone 4s then iphone 8 now iphone 13 pro, i hated iphones i got gift ipod touch 2nd gen and i was curious used it and was somehow very satisfied with the smoothness with ios and that made me iphone user i also have s21 cause my long history with Android both ios matured really well i hope in near future to see more features and more integration on the os of things more usefull features and more efficiency 😄
Also i will confirm both Android and Ios have bugs sometimes but i think now its more bug on the apps then the softwares
Here before 1000 views
as seen with the catastrophic Sales of IPHONE 14 Plus, Apple should really stick and bring the mini again!
When the first iPhone was released, it also received tons of criticism. Would’ve been nice to hear about that in this video.
Do a video on why Apple brought back the HomePod?
I miss the little round volume buttons and 3D touch. And....kinda just skipped right over "bend gate" there, didn't we?
@Apple Explained, can you pretty please make the History of the iPad (Full Documentary) Apple Explained KZhead Channel Video Project later soon sometime in the near future in the next new Apple Explained KZhead Channel Apple Explained Device History Video Project Episode Title to include the Apple iPad 10th generation tablet computer generation model and the Apple iPad Pro 6 tablet computer generation model when you have the chance to do it the very best?
My first iPhone was the 4S, then I went back to Andriod and as of 2021 I've been iOS since. I rock a iPhone 13 Pro Max for my personal, and iPhone 12 for work. My next personal iPhone will also be a Pro Max as I've fallen in love with the screen size which originally I didn't like but it gew on me.
My first phone was the se 2 and now i have the 14
I kinda would’ve liked if we jumped from 5s straight to the 12. The rounded design was such a bummer for me
So here is a question. In the beginning, the first Apple phones allowed you to set your audio to the way you wanted it to sound. Those settings would cover not only your library, but whatever you were watching such as KZhead or whatever. It’s some point, and I think when they started using Siri, that was removed. Now, if you go and set your audio settings, the way you want it it only affects what’s in your library. Why can’t Apple return the feature to where it can be set for whatever you’re listening to. Do you know what android dies and has done for years. It would be a huge step up for those who use their iPhone to consume media.
I remember when I said I would never touch an apple product... currently typing this on a 2022 16inch .. lol. whilst listening though my AirPods , while checking the time on my apple ultra, and looking at the weather on my iPhone pro .. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
$499 in 2007 would be like $723 today when adjusted for inflation
cool
26:44 I underestimated how small the 14 really is then... XDXD
is it just me or did he forget the iPhone SE 2022 and iphone bendgate
I miss the visual voicemail
I had a few basic phones before getting an iPhone but for me personally, every phone I’ve owned has always felt like a great upgrade, probably because of what I’ve had and the lack of opportunities combined with the fact that I’d own a phone for 2 years. My first iPhone was a 4 (4th phone I ever owned but first smartphone ever) which was one my dad used and the battery life was terrible combined with Wifi never working and the only sounds that could work on it were alarms and calling ringtones. Then once I got the 5S, that was much improved battery life, loved the fact they added a Low Power Mode (an underrated feature that I think gets taken for granted today), lighter and bigger phone, and the layout was much better than the 4. When I jumped from the 5S to the 6, that was more of needing a change in the memory size since 16 GB wasn’t doing it for me anymore so getting 32 GB on the 6 really made my life easier on top of the battery life improvements and Touch ID worked a little better for me. Even though I didn’t necessarily need a memory increase from the 6 to my current 8 Plus, I definitely needed a bigger phone screen size for my needs but the memory from 32 to 128 GB is a huge bonus. I won’t be too worried about memory anymore when I go from the 8 Plus to a 14 but I know I won’t be paying for a brand new 15 either, plus by the time I purchase the 14 it’ll be nearly a year since it came out so all of the bugs and everything else would’ve been well worked on
Call me old school, i still have a iPhone (4)s to this day!
26:44 a 1.6 inch display for the iPhone 14. yeah, that’s ridiculously small…the iPhone 14 Max Mini it seems 😂
Can’t believe I missed that. 😅
i got my first phone in may of 2022 and i still have the same phone today
26:44, a 1.6 inch display?? that's tiny.
My first iPhone was the iPhone 5 until I got the iPhone 12 today I got the new iPhone 14 Pro
who asked
First iPhone 3GS White - you didn’t mention when the App Store arrived.
It's just not the same without the music.
yeah i was thinking the same thing that music makes the video
My History of Apple explained video is already outdated! 😢
26:44 1.6 inches?
You completely forgot to mention the SE 3.
Bought my iPhone 4S in 2012, then the 5S in 2015, and lastly the iPhone 6S in 2020, which suddenly stopped working last month. But yeah, good luck getting a new affordable iPhone in 2023 cause €800 is not within my budget.
Was that a 1.6 inch display on the iPhone 14. 😂😂
not only is iphone apple’s most influential product, it’s probably the most influential smartphone too
There’s a couple of major points that are wrong. Yes, apple did initially announce webapps for the iPhone. But then they announced the iPhone SDK and the 2.0 beta that did allow third party apps. The iPhone 3G launched with the App Store as we know it. Another major point that was incorrect was about the iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 Pro did gain the ability to shoot ProRAW. But that’s not video, that’s still images. Photography. The iPhone 13 Pro can shoot ProRes. There’s other little nitpicky points in the video that are off as well but those two stood out as the major offenders and should be corrected.
iPhone’s UI used to be great and cool, and then iOS 7 came until now
No, more recent iOS versions ruined it. Especially 16
Next we need the history of the ipad
I miss the background music.
I LOVED the iPhone 5C. No idea why people hated it
whats this "galaxy ultra" referenced in the video? come on its not a secret is it?
26:45 it is 6.1 inch, not 1.6 inch!
My first iPhone was
forgot to mention that the iPhone 4 was the first to come to Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile in February 2011
I’ve had the iPhone 4,4s,5,5s,6,6s plus, 7, XS and now the iPhone 12 pro
You forgot the SE 3.
I think the real reason for its success was when they opened the contract up to be for all 4 major carriers. Back when they were only at&t, I wouldn't say that they were that successful.
I went from being an Android user for years to becoming a iPhone user in 2020 and I've really been enjoying the jump from Android to iOS, my first iPhone was a 6s that was given to me by my mom. I had to get rid of it though because the phone had a bad battery when it was given to me and that's when I got the phone I have now (an iPhone 11) that I got in May of 2021 and it has been a really good and solid phone, my next upgrade when my 11 no longer receives iOS updates is either a 13 PM or 14.
Same, but my first was a 5c I didn’t have long, and then a 6s. 11 Pro after that and now a 13 Pro (11 screen broke, had for nearly 3 yrs but was going to use 1-2 more). I will say now that the 13 Pro and PM are AMAZING! So is the 11, but if you thought the battery life jump was huge with the 11 series just you wait ;) Enjoy and take care!
If you are choosing between a 13PM and a regular 14, 13PM ALL THE WAY! The 120hz display alone is worth it but the camera features are as well. Same cpu/gpu essentially. 14 Pro or PM I would take over the 13, but that’s a different story
The iPhone 8 Plus was my first iPhone
The iPhone 6s was my first one (I have a 3GS too lol)
iPhone 14 plus is the same as the plus model in the past iPhones 📱
You missed the iPhone SE 3
I am hoping the 15 will finally get rid of Lightning in favour of Thunderbolt (or wireless all together), full titanium frame and then just do whatever you want.
I remember when 32GB was HUGE 😂 and 64GB was mind blowing 🤯😭
iPhone's naming system becomes very inconsistent after the 8/X. Sometimes I wonder why they cannot just call the 8 the 7s and the X just a 10th year special edition so that 9 can still be used.
Just get rid of the (S) stuff. SE and R can stay but iPhone 14 should be 16
