🔥 Get our new Off-Season Training System: www.hockeytraining.com/offseason
In this video, Coach Dan runs us through 7 of his favorite Lower Body exercises for hockey players.
These exercises will work on your overall strength and power in your lower body but also work on important factors for skating like your ankle, hip, and core stability and mobility.
Every hockey player should include these exercises within an off-season training program. If you want a "done for you" program check out our brand new Off-Season Domination '21 System that will have coaches' and scouts' jaws on the floor with how much improvement you've made over this off-season!
Here are the exercises:
0:00 - Intro
0:16 - T-Stands
2:28 - Bulgarian Split Squats

Awesome video! I joined the VIP skills accelerator about 3-4 weeks ago and it is amazing! And also are cold showers good for hockey players?
Long story short, they're great for the in-season but bad for the off-season. I wrote an article on the science behind this topic here: www.hockeytraining.com/ice-baths/
@@hockeytraining ok thanks! I will check out the article
I'll try that. Thanks!
Great ! Thanks 💪
great exercises, thanks
Just tried this. Great workout!
This is great.🙏 Thank you! 🏒
Great video hockey guy. Thanks.
Thanks! Some of the olders skaters in my rink recommended me this, and I think it will work!
This stuff is gold!! Thank you guys for great content I can use for my 2 hockey player's dryland programs!👏
So good💪🏻🤩

I gotta try these after school!
Spring break bruh
Это именно то, что я искал, сложное движение разложено на части!
ima try these out, the one thing missing from my game is speed, so hopefully these help out
how did it work out for you brother?
Can you make a Stickhandling drills with a passer please
I usually throw one or more of these exercises into any gym workout. all of these in the same workout though, wow that's a lot on the hips
We wouldn't ever program them all in the same workout!
@@hockeytraining ok whew! thanks.
Heyy, I started to training at the gym this summer to have more strength during my hockey season but instead I lost a lot of speed and agility unlike last year. do you know why ? Any advice to regain my strength? Please thank you and your videos are amazing !! (sorry for my bad english i’m from Quebec city)
At 2:15 where Kevin demonstrates it the "wrong" way, that's how I look on my left leg. But standing on my right leg is fine. My "right" hip seems less mobile overall. Any advice? 🏒👊
If it's a mobility issue, try doing this 2-3x per week and it should help clear it up quickly 💪 kzhead.info/sun/kq1-fsyAlmKZop8/bejne.html&t=
10:20 - if you wanna do Skater Bounds outside to avoid resetting, would you space out each bound with any steps or hops?
Nope, I would likely do continuous bounds in a row without stopping if I had the room. There are variations where you can hop or pause in-between though.
Question coach. On the Nordic hamstring curl it appears you are using the same piece of equipment u used for the RFES-Squat. When using this piece of equipment for the Nordic Hamstring Curl. Question finally- does the piece of equipment allow you to do the exercise without any anchoring of the equipment. It seems like it would move? Thanks for posting Ray
Hey Ray, yes I was using my split squat stand to secure my legs as I put two heavy dumbbells on either end to hold it down (not the best way to do it but I made it work for the video). Here's a good video that shows you a variety of ways you can secure your legs at home: kzhead.info/sun/o66MqLtxjZtqfnA/bejne.html
@@hockeytraining are you using a single leg squat roller for the Bulgarian Split squats and the Nordic Curls?
@@mikeadams4605 Yup, I used weights to hold it down for the Nordic
Watching this drinking a beer thinking about my next game
I'm just getting back on the ice from double hip surgery. These kill me 🤣
What caused the surgery? I’m only asking because I have a hip laberal tear
What else can we use instead of the thing that you use for the Bulgarian split squats and the last exercise?
For Bulgarian (Rear Foot Elevated) Split Squats you can use a bench, chair our couch. Anything that is just under knee height. For Nordic Hamstring Curls here's a good video that shows you a variety of ways you can secure your legs at home: kzhead.info/sun/o66MqLtxjZtqfnA/bejne.html
Can you guys do a off season power and speed video?
Yep, there will be plenty of content coming as the off-season weeks go on! 💪
@@hockeytraining let’s go 💪💪
How many times a week should you do this?
At 0:55 is that London sport park? Because I was just there earlier today
Yeah it is 👍🏻
How many times? And how many set on a day?
What is the tool used in Split Squats and Nordic Hamstring curl? Thanks
Single Leg Split Squat Stand
Cheers!
Hey coach garner I’m just wondering how often we should be doing these exercises a week
Like I mention at the end of the video, this totally depends on the periodization strategy you're using for the off-season as well as what phase you're currently in. These movements could be performed anywhere from 1-3x per week, but again, you'll want it logically structured in a "big picture" program design for the full off-season. You can check out the link in the video description to check out my off-season program, or if you're interested in learning complete program design you can check out how I set things up last year: www.hockeytraining.com/designing-off-season-program/
Can I use a roller for the nordic?
Yep! 💪
Are Jefferson Curls similar to Nordic Hamstring Curls?
They target similar muscle groups, but definitely different in their execution/movement pattern 👍
can you show how to skaet like krpesaf
what model of shoes is this?😅
Where did you get that split squat pad
www.treadmillfactory.ca/xtreme-monkey-squat-assist
Other ways to set these up and save $400!
@@BenBreeg1138 yeah it’s more expensive than I thought
@@xypo1138 Could make something with black iron pipe, wood, and a barbell pad that could be adjustable and work exactly the same.
How many sets and reps per excercise do you recommend
Depends on the workout/program... a good start is 3 sets, 10 reps... but that's just a starting point and depends what you're working on.
What would you call the piece of equipment used for the split squats and the Nordic curl?
Single leg squat stand
Brookside, classic barn
any tips for how to do the last thing without having that equipment to hold your legs?
Yep, you've got lots of variations you can choose from here: kzhead.info/sun/o66MqLtxjZtqfnA/bejne.html
@@hockeytraining oh wow perfect haha thanks
What rink is that
London Sports Park
@@hockeytraining Knew it
