She used a lot of her magic creating the fog illusion that helped take out the baboon army, so she likely needed time to recharge.

Since 1910, filmmakers and others have given the Wicked Witch of the West all kinds of names, beginning with Momba, then going on to others, including Bastinda, Evillene, and even Wicked West. But none of them has been as ironic as the name Theodora. Rework it a bit and you have the name Dorothy.
