My problem with the term atheist is that it only states the thing I DON'T believe, not the many things I DO believe in - like doing the right thing simply because it's the right thing to do and that I only get one life to do it right; not because there's some angry old man in the sky shaking his finger at me. I prefer to call myself a secular humanist.
Agreed, I prefer to call myself a heretic because it is less likely to drive people away. When I tell people I reject all the tenants of Christianity but still embrace its ethical principles such as love your neighbor, be faithful to your spouse, lift up the downtrodden etc. Most just short circuit and their eyes glaze over.
My only problem with most atheists is that they think we have the world and conciousness completely figured out, but that's far from the truth. I'm not religious, but I'm not an atheist either, I just simply dont know and dont care to refute or support one side or the other. The universe has a very sound design, that could either be coincidental or purposeful and it's not my place to find out. Is an actor in a play supposed to look behind the curtain? Or just to continue the show as a character in an amazingly complex story. I'll just do the ladder
I am of a non religious person for many reason but my main reasons why I don’t believe n religion is bekause for my first reason all religion is the same they are all trying to reaxh the same goal enlightenment and enter Peace the only thing that makes these religions different is their believes and their origin story. My 2nd reason I believe we are god and we just don’t realize it bekause we have been dumbed down. What makes me say that they say god kan kill they say god kan kreate life and they say god lives with in us they also say we are gods khildren. If I’m not mistaken I can do everything on their I kan kill someone I kan make a baby not only that if I’m gods khild doesn’t that make me god as well and if god is inside me doesn’t that give me his abilities and power kinda like what I just said. So youre saying that there is a study where people were asked a hypothetical about someone hitting a parked car and finding a wallet and stealing the money, and then asked whether they think the person is a teacher, an atheist teacher, or a rapist? Sorry, but I dont believe you.....Please post a link to this study you are referencing here....Id like to see whether or not the 3 options are what you said they are.... Also, since you cherrypick examples regarding atheism in a negative context so you can try to present a bullshit argument about atheism, ow about you be a bit more nuanced and substantive, and discuss the polls taken in islamic countries about whether or not people living in those countries would vote for a christian? How about you discuss the hardships of being a christian in a majority muslim country? And then using that to argue that christianity is failing.... How about talking about the polls in America about how many Americans would vote for a Muslim? Is being a Muslim in America, political suicide? Your whole presentatino was skewed, slanted, biased, ignored nuance, was full of flat out falsehoods, and downright misleading and misinformative....
