    • Seeing that every time he brakes for a corner he makes up at least a car length on the guy in front, that was what jumped out to me. Also at 4:30, this was the first time I've actually noticed trail braking. I know race drivers do it, but I'd never been able to really see it. This section makes it clear. I mostly drift in sims so the increased rear end wavering(I assume GT cars more visibly trail-brake than F1 cars) in cockpit made it click with me for the first time. 'Ah, okay, so he's basically slip angle drifting that chicane'. It's like it had been hiding in plain sight from me all this time. Such subtle, precise control of throttle and brake, so subtle it's almost invisible in F1.

He is managing everyone else around him, including behind him, while simultaneously finding the maximum potential break zone that won't put him in the back of someone else, while in their draft. That's truly something incredible you can't have without the true experience of racing at a high level.

    • Not showcasing. Learning to push the limits of the vehicles. That's something you can't do with a real car, take it past the limit and crash it 100x in an hour to find the perfect line. Max uses the sim to learn where the limits are of the vehicles. You can't know how far you can go until you've gone too far, and you don't want to do that in a real car. Every pro driver would benefit from more sim time.

That’s how it’s done in the real world of racing, you make sure to cut off any advantage that may let the other driver come back at you, if that guy had conceded the corner earlier it would never have happened. Btw I don’t drive like this, I always leave a cars width because I’m not verstappen or 7k+ but you’re never going to get to the front without bold, confident moves. IMO just showing the difference between a world class sim racer and world class driver...

    • Either you drive 'no touching allowed', or you don't. If you do, they better send them off 10s apart, like at Pike's Peak or The Isle of Man. Make it a timed race, so everyone can drive his own pace and passing has little meaning. If you don't ... as long as the car stays in one piece. No driver is out to damage his own car. Max just has zoom-eyes: he sometimes sees a large hole where others see a tiny hole. It's like Coulthart said at Abu Dhabi: "I wouldn't have passed Hamilton at corner 5, I would have waited". Followed by: "and that's probably why I never became World Champion". Max keeps his car on track, in one piece, and does it in murdereous laptimes. It's up to the other drivers to do the same. The SIMs play a game, Max doesn't. Does that really surprise anyone?

What kind of "skill" is that? Skill in racing is not about just going as fast as you can but it is also a matter or being able to pass others without forcing others out of the road to do so. Racing is not hotlapping, you aren't alone. If your "skill" is just about brute forcing your way into such a "win" then your "skill" is utterly pointless (exactly as the "skill" of a boxer "winning" by having padding removed on his gloves; he "won" so who cares how he did it, is it not? Utter nonsense). He caused two incidents in just the first 10 minutes in the video, both by forcefully interjecting into the line of the other driver. Do you think that's acceptable behavior? If to "win" you have to cause incidents to other cars and only care about your race and nobody's else then I'm sorry but your "skill" is actually weak all things considered, since your "winning" is not by the same rules that others abide to hence making your win totally irrelevant.

Other drivers also trail brake, but they aren't as perfect as he is with the rev accuracy. Those extra rpms help so much for gaining those needed inches on other drivers. He knows exactly the right throttle and brake for each corner, and he is CONSISTENT every lap, with the least variation compared to other drivers. • @@enzodeligny17c i've seen people get penalty for that in many series bud. I watch real life racing too lol. Thats the reason a lot of us are into sim racing anyway, because we like real life racing like IMSA, WEC, F1 , SuperGT, and etc. If the driver (who he passed) had gone off track due to that move, it probably (depending on the officials and the severity) could have been overlooked, givin a drive through or but very unlikely a stop and go . But iracing has no marshals and only incident points, so nothing happens lol

    • Deadmode He's not wrong tho. It helps to have audio up (You can't flick like you would in any racing game. Because everyone else is just as fast as you. One late break and you can rear end someone) so it helps to have your audio up. It tells you if the tires are doing their job, if there's a driver to your left or right (if you have surround sound) and all those little good things that matter.

  • my god. If you've ever tried dive bombing in a sim it is EXTREMELY hard to not overshoot or completely lock your fronts to try and get ahead or fully alongside the other car in the apex. There were too many times where I overshot and opened a gap on the inside for the other car to get a better exit and still stay ahead. He has so much trust in the brake pedal even thought he isn't experiencing the G-forces or the vibrations in real life. His steering is just completely smooth all way in each lap while also being very aggressive on the kerbs. Each time I see his car step out even just a little bit, he doesn't even correct it sometimes. Some of the overtakes he did were dirty definitely, but the pace he had was just out of this world and each lap looked like a quali lap instead of race pace.

    @SodiumChlorideMsport@SodiumChlorideMsport Жыл бұрын
    • and not to mention he's not even overevving the engine like mowing down the gears or shifting late. He also takes care of the car while going at maximum pace. What you'd definitely expect from an F1 driver, but the way he's adapted in sim racing is just amazing.
