  • I remember playing Comanche, which had something similar - you hear the BEEP of the radar warning receiver and then you've got half a second to get behind cover before you're blasted out of the sky.

  • @hiimcb No but they have a very low minimum engagement altitude of 15 metres. But the more modern Pantsir-S1 can engage groung targets (and almost certainly the newest Sosna-R also)

  • @1973frassrand no they are... against helicopters, planes like A-10 or Su-25 and even cruise missiles.

  • @bax7172 Each S-300 unit has it's own radar, it's common to have 3-4 per battery, so you have to take out all those radars to disable them totally. The radars have a range greater than that of the engagement range of most weapon systems you'd use to take them out too, and they very rarely operate as a single battery. They're spread out all over the place and supplemented by more powerful radar networks. It's a grid, it isn't a single radar. Also, a missile costs less and has no pilot to die.

  • @bax7172 Modern AA systems can tell military and civilian aircraft apart. They can even tell you what model of aircraft they are. All civilian aircraft have ID signatures too. The speed and altitude is also a give away as to what it is, and S-300 units can operate independently of the grid. They also don't just use radar, but a whole host of different sensors like Infra-Red to track heat signatures and so on. The only way to stop all this is to get them all on the ground simultaneously with SF.

  • It seems your right, the M1A1 does seem to be faster, but how do you know the composite armor on the M1A1 is better than the T-90? You can only make assumptions but the armor on the T-90 is classified, it's also backed up by some of the best ERA bricks on there. Oh yeah, if it isn't spoofed, then whats the point of the shtora? But if you're actually right on that, the Arena APS actually intercepts with another rocket.

  • @xSonsofSunsx then who are the superpowers?

    @erer270@erer27012 жыл бұрын
  • Oh wait, but what about the T-90MS? It seems like a huge improvement on the T-90. The whole interior looks re-done with new tech and the exterior seems to be covered with a lot more armor. Also the T-99 Armata, Russia's new tank, a 4th generation tank with a planned prototype in 2013. It seems completely different, a whole new design.

  • I WAS TALKING ABOUT INCOMING ROCKETS AND MISSILES THE WHOLE TIME -_______________-. But since you're talking about the actual round from the cannon, my argument is that the T-90 is equipped with some of the best Reactive Armor in service. That may not be enough to completely stop a DU round but it probably won't penetrate the T-90. You also don't seem to think the the T-90 has the same rounds, maybe it could penetrate an Abrams?

    @TheMaximumfail@TheMaximumfail11 жыл бұрын
  • @Howie262 well how about putting armor in a x number of degrees that it becomes better protective, is that german... no its russian.

    @robvanmol@robvanmol14 жыл бұрын
  • @franknbeans4761 The figures may be slightly different depending on if you count the troops from the Commonwealth. You are partly right, but we look at it a little different way since Americans had a different resistance most of the war. Americans fought effectively against Japan for example, but when they met "real" German units Americans died as much as everyone else since Americans were relatively inexperienced at war environment in Europe.

  • I believe that the A-10s and other ground attack aircraft had to change their tactics to deal with this thing. On the other hand, it is cheap and lethal defense against low-flying aircraft, provided that you destroy them before they get in range to fire missiles.

  • On testing grounds, the T-90 has been proven to survive 6 shots capable to the Abrams 120mm main cannon. It was not even repaired and it was still rolling out fine. The T-72's in Iraq were cheap export versions with poorly trained crew members.

  • If a B-2 Spirit was sailing at its ceiling of 50,000ft (15.2 KM) the Tunguska couldn't detect it, nor have any chance of hitting it. You can use Pythagoras theorem to determine weather the Tunguska is able to hit something.

  • The turret popped off in the first place because it was not as heavily protected as the T-90. I'm not sure about the turret layout of the tank because i can't find anything about it, but it sadly is, most likely the same. Also not sure about the "most likely to die" part because it's served in Chechnya, Dagestan and Georgia but I don't that it has sustained 1 total loss. The Georgian army and militants had much more advanced and effective weapons than the terrorists in Afghanistan right now.
