  • It kind of makes sense when you think about it: Tony's only emotional bond (Pepper) is cloistered in a high security compound and he has the resources to keep a small army of bodyguards around her. He also isn't fighting domestic organized crime, which means he doesn't have to worry about the snakes in the grass when he goes to the store. He doesn't hide his superhero identity because he doesn't *need* to.

    • he has the resources to keep a full army around him. He would only need a few because he can invest bodyguards that can take out the most advanced armies on the planet aka about 300 Iron Man suits could do that.

    • Bro don't need to hire bodyguards. He makes them 😂. Despite his prototypes always breaking because Tony doesn't exercise restraint in a y form of the word when it comes to pushing the suits limits, what he mass produces is technically sound with many of the problems and flaws designed right out. A single Mark 2 Iron Man suit is enough to take out a militia with a tank and tango with an F24 Raptor. An army of heavily improved versions governed by AI protocols? Good luck.

    • That’s a good point. Spider-Man needs to hide his identity because he is a street level superhero. Iron Man’s enemies are usually enemies of the country, so if they get pissed, they won’t target him. They’ll target someone like the President.

In the first "Armor Wars" story where Tony wanted to retire and Iron Man "died" in battle, he realized he had to come back to stop a new villain. So when he showed up in a new armor the guy said "Yeesh, Stark hired another idiot to be his bodyguard?"

    • The best part of the entire bodyguard alibi is that Iron Man claims that he always is able to carry Stark to a safe location prior to appearing, which is why no one seems to question why they’re never seen together on the same scene, and why villains always wonder why Iron Man is always conveniently there when they want to target Stark or his company

    • The best part, he embraced the role. He went to conventions. He presented a young child with a artificial limb that came out if of case with Stark logo on it. He, and later Chris Evans, enjoyed being their characters.( Remember when Evans help that actress at the Academy Awards? Social Media screamed that Captain America is now real). That is why we cried when Tony Stark passed and while Steve Rogers danced with Peggy Carter as Endgame faded to black. RDJ and Chris Evans let us into their world. Thank you for the epic ride. And forever, regardless of location or time: AVENGERS ASSEMBLY!

  • Back then when I saw this, this was a game-changing surprise because back then superheroes don’t reveal their secret identities, most especially to the public. Tony just does it like it’s no big deal.

  • Iron Man 1 was so good, I remember going to watch it with my friends, I was in 7th grade at the time, we had no idea what to expect, the movie was absolutely amazing, Robert Downey Jr. was born to play Tony Stark, the post credits scene with Nick Fury talking about the Avengers initiative blew me away! now to look back at this movie, and what it started feels surreal man!   • Just finished rewatching this again. Iron Man 2008 will always be my favorite movie ever and the best for me because this movie comes with all the memories of my childhood. I was just a kid back then, life was simple, and I watched this with my childhood crush which just makes watching the movie more awesome. The impact this had on me was extraordinary. RDJ was born to play Iron Man. You can see over the years that RDJ was becoming Tony Stark on and off the camera and Tony Stark was becoming RDJ. I will never move on from MCU phase 1-3. THE BEST
