He took a massive risk here as Holloway said and had more to lose than Max.He also was the first to drop Max and answered the call when Max called him out. I really hope we do see him in title contention again at some point because this'll open him up to people back in the top 15 and there are a lot of exciting fights there

    • @@proudindian9140 I'm a Gaethje fan but sadly enough I have to agree with you. Justin is 35 years old, already had two unsuccessful LW Undisbuted title runs. Very unlikely Justin will be able to have another run this late in his career. He may have another win or 2 left but I think that will be it. Justin is better off hanging them up and moving on. He holds 3 belts anyway, former WSOF (now the PFL), former UFC interim champ and the BMF. Some will say the BMF is bullshit but he had to beat Dustin Poirier to get it. Justin enjoyed an awesome fighting career better to get out now before ending up like some other old fighters.

He made Katar look like rose vs Carla Esparza (pick either of them) and I was stunned to see Calvin had that kind of performance against a guy who’s coming up a weight class after being knocked out in his last fight - so definitely Aljo deserves a mention no question about it

  • Gaithje was a favorite and Oliviera was a substantial dog going in but what makes it a tie in terms of stock drop, Gaithje not only got brutally KOd but also was outclassed and beaten up for the majority of the fight whereas I think Oliviera had a competitive fight as an underdog and lost a split decision, which I still think could have gone either way despite the fact that I do believe Arman edged it out.

  • For me the biggest winners of this card are Kayla, Max and Alex. Max and Alex are obvious but Kayla was doubted by UFC fans coming in if she can make weight and if her striking wad up to par. Also most fans where hating on her for being on this card and didn't care or want to see her fight. Now fans like her and think she is championship caliber thats the biggest narrative shift and she may even get a title shot now. Biggest losers are Justin and Kattar for me. Justin took a gamble putting his title shot on the line and lost but can still turn things around like Porrier. But for Kattar he was seen as an elite FW with a big opportunity but now looks bad. His career is over hes too old and his injuries caught up to him hard to see him climb up the rankings again.

  • The reason charles is on this list is because his stock was so high to begin with. If he was a blue chip stock trading for $100 and it dropped to $80 it is technically true that he lost more than a bankrupted tech company that was trading at $2 a share, but idk it seems more interesting to look at it in terms of who gained/lost the most in the context of their career trajectory or else the list will always just include the highest profile fighters win or lose. Judging them on that scale I'd say lopes/moicano/max probably biggest gains, and turner/hill/rakic the biggest losers.

    @stufflymcstuff@stufflymcstuffАй бұрын
  • According to scoring criteria Arman vs Charles is absolutely a split decision fight because Charles on multiple occasions came much closer to finishing Arman than the other way around… also, I personally was put off by Arman’s post fight interview but I did think he edged out a win in all fairness. But if you rewatch the fight with scoring criteria in your hand, trust me you would see a good argument for a split decision either way

  • for me, i'd have to say that Yan wins the "stock went up _despite_ losing" -- SUPER tough/resilient and a lot of heart. i thought she was actually out-striking Weili on the feet (though i might also be inclined to chalk that up to Weili's wrestle-heavy game plan). her team should've been able to get a LOT of data to take back to the gym with them, and i'm excited to see how she improves moving forward. obviously Weili is a phenom on the ground, but you could definitely see the improvements just even since the Carla loss. on any other card, this fight would _at least_ be getting talked about (and for reasons other than the controversial non-stoppage).

  • I’ve been Alex Perreira fan since his Glory days and he’s a special athlete and by what everyone says about him a special human being, to boot. I agree, however, that for him to fight on 301 is just a tad too ambitious and I also don’t think it will happen. As far as Aspinal… I go back and forth on that one. Yes Poatan allegedly walks around 230-235 and I don’t think that Aspinal outweighs him by a ton once they are locked in that octagon however, weight classes do exist for a reason. And even tho Fedor and Randy Couture were heavily undesired vs most of their opponents at HW and were still able to achieve amazing things in their prime, I think that today’s MMA landscape is very different because on average fighters are just way more skilled than those in past eras so I am not going to say that Alex has no chance against Aspinal because in a fight, for the most part, anyone has at least a chance, but would it be a smart move that can potentially tarnish his thus far unprecedented legacy? I guess only time will tell but in my opinion, if he defeats Ank, I just don’t know if it even benefits him to fight Aspinal??? What do you think?
