Definitely not shallow🙋🏽♀️. I’m a straight woman, so her looks never mattered to me. Tifa has always been my favorite since I was a kid. I just always related to her. She’s a great character, definitely one of the best.
I love her outfit, eyes and hair tho. She looks very good and it's nice since she has that amazing personality too. She's not like a bitch who knows exactly that she's hot, but has that nasty and arrogant behavior (Scarlet, lol). But ofc, they wouldnt make her ugly tho 😂

Man, i love Tifa so much. Whenever i tell people she's my favorite video game character of all time they tell me its cause of her looks right? Then i show them her OG Polygon design and say this is the Tifa i fell in love with. lol. Its her looks sure, naturally that's what most people gravitate too at first, but then you get to know her personlity, and her significance to the overall story. She's amazing.

Tifa is one of the most realistic characters in the game. And it's funny how ppl say that she has no personality, like wtf? Tifa is a mystery in many ways since she's coy and doesn't make a noise about herself too much. She's like Cloud in a sense. But she's very relatable, has all emotions of a human kind. You can go and have a drink with her, have fun, flirt, have serious conversations. She's empathic, INTELLIGENT, Selfless,patient, loyal, fighter in many ways, holds her ground, keep the fort up high and going, runs her own business and handles her own business,takes care of everything and everyone. She's AMAZING and easily the best wife material. Ofc she has flaws, but when looking at the plusses, it doesn't matter.
To be fair: the creators over did it with her boobs. Cut those down a few cup sizes and she'd be perfect. Then you wouldn't be distracted by those things and could focus more on her personality. But hey.... you know... "sex sells". So they oversold her.... just a bit.
Tifa is popular cuz she is hot, thats it. Her sex appeal is the only thing going for her.
In Rebirth she’s almost single handedly keeping Cloud from falling completely apart mentally by her constant support. She’s a superb character and probably the best possible friend you could ask for
That's not just in Rebirth. In OG7, Cloud tells her that her support is what's kept him going the entire time. Then, when her doubts get the best of her and she can't reassure him, that's the moment when he can't keep it together anymore and loses faith in himself. She's the reason he wanted to be somebody, the reason he came apart, and the reason he came back together. Rebirth does absolutely show it better and more obviously, but it was all there in OG7, just required a little more attentiveness.

@@LordMalice6d9 Fair enough - the sometimes clunky transliteration did make certain aspects of it harder to follow, but it is none the less all there, and what they've done with the compilation strongly suggests that it isn't there as a result of transliteration error, that it is intentional. We could say that we find the intent corroborated by other works that enjoyed better transliteration. It just could have read more clearly in some places. I always wanted to play the original game in Japanese, but learning Kanji is hard! Maybe someday, I still will.

Tifa is amazing, I've always loved Garnet and Zidane, but honestly, Tifa and Cloud are probably the best FF couple. Their story and what they mean to each other is just *cheffs kiss.
I always loved Garnet and Zidane too, but I have seen (especially with the remake) Cloud's and Tifa's interactions and chemistry and I fell in love with them all over again. I appreciate their slow burn relationship and I personally think it's interesting. I love that burning, quiet, tension between them. Like they could be passionately and hungrily kissing each other in any minute 😂

Tifa and Cloud aren't a couple, they weren't even that close as kids. Despite antisocial he had a crush on her because she was the prettiest girl in the town. The connection she has with him is more because of the tragedy in Nibelheim than anything else, as he's probably the only friend remaining in her life from that town.
She is legit the hero of the game. You can trace all the plot motivations to her.

I frankly believe that 95 percent of Tifa fans do not understand the character's massive flaws and do, in fact, only like her for her looks. And, honestly, the video did not convince me to the contrary.

I truly feel that Tifa is not only my favorite Final Fantasy character, but my favorite video game character of all time. All of the reasons provided in this video were spot-on for me. Tifa is beautiful, sexy, caring, selfless, kind and full of heart. ***Spoiler Warning. Stop now if you haven't played FF7..... The paramount reason why I love Tifa is because she is such a good friend to Cloud. It's obvious that Tifa loves Cloud - I think that she is fully in love with him and it shows more as the game progresses, at least in the Ps1 FF7. The way that she doesn't correct Cloud when he talks about his memories of he and Tifa, especially their childhood memories...it speaks volumes to her sweet and selfless disposition. She sees that her friend is not well physically, emotionally and mentally, but she doesn't point out when he is wrong or give him grief. She is simply there to check on him and to ask if he is okay. Yes, she relies a lot on Cloud, at first, but we later come to find out that she asked Cloud to work with Avalanche in order to keep a close watch on him. She keeps all of her questions and concerns to herself - likely because there is already enough around her to cause both of them enough emotional turmoil. I feel she doesn't correct Cloud's memory of the past both because she doesn't want to hurt him further and also because she is afraid that those conversations are too devastating to her psyche to allow herself to consider them. It's a bit of vulnerability through strength and courage. Wow, that was a diary of a comment. I sure love an underdog story and I love this game!!!
She didn't correct his memories because she didn't even know he was there until they go together in to the lifestream and she finds out he was.
@@GLUFSAREN that's the point. In her eyes he wasn't there (helmet) but still she didn't ask etc she just let him talk about his version of what happened. And later when she knew the truth he was there, it was still concerning to her because he thought he was interacting with them when he wasn't.
If you think about it, Tifa is actually the main character. Almost all of the plot points happen because of her actions or in relation to her. She’s the one who led Sephiroth to his true identity, Sephiroth destroyed her town, and then tried to brainwash her man.
She's also the reason Cloud left to join SOLDIER: To becomr the kind of man he thought she deserved. Had he not, he might have still been in Ninelheim as a dumb kid with no training and would died with everyone else during Sephiroths rampage. (I know he was there but he had training and it allowed him to survive and kill Sephiroth).

Tifa is a significantly less important character than Cloud, Aerith, Sephiroth, and - arguably - Barret. Her entire 'arc' consists of "I am too weak to confront Cloud, so bad stuff will continue to happen." [[[Bad stuff happens.]]] "Okay, I now have the strength to confront Cloud."

The first half of FF7 has Aerith and Cloud as main characters, while the second half it's Tifa and Cloud. And contrary to what Cleriths and Clotis claim, it was always made just vauge enough how Cloud feels about them so that the player can choose whom they preffer he loves as just a friend or as a lover.

Very good description of her character. Just a thing, when it is say that aerith support her with positivity and tifa take care of her, she also support her with positivity. The thing is that in that long train graveyard section tifa faces what it could possible be the same tragic again, to loose everything, every people she knew and made friends with, her house, marlene, her new "hometown". This affects her in a more personal level than aerith so is natural that she will be sometimes filled with troublesome thoughts, but even there when aerith get lost in a bad memory and start to cry, it is tifa who gives her words of encouragement and extend a had to her with a smile and it is the same when the party ends up in aeriths old bedroom in shinras facility, when aerith start to feel sad and talk about loosing parts of her, surrounded by whispers is tifa who pull her out and again with a smile and the words that they will find out another way. It bothers me a little that the attribute of being positive only belongs to aerith, this because, I see tifa as the only 100% human being in the story and if this story has to teach us something I'd like to be that you dont need a weapon in your arm, nor mako enhancement neither cetra blood to make it through, and even if things were, are, will be difficult you can still keep a good heart and go forward as human being. Tifa's positivity shines as much as aeriths.
She has been my favorite since I originally played OG over 20 years ago. She is relatable, strong, sensitive yet also flawed. In a world of supersoldiers, ancient mages, augmented powerful beings, she is the human one
Not to mention being able to beat the crap out of said augmented beings with her bare hands, despite being only human. Like... wow.
I always found Tifa to be one of the most beautiful characters in all of fiction. Not only did i have a massive crush on her as a kid... She was beautiful written, femine, friendly, polite, caring and knew how to kick ass. I found her bond with Cloud to be very much organic and well written, although i wouldn't say they have an active romantic relationship like Squall & Rinoa, or Tidus & Yuna as romance really wasn't st the heart of the original FF7. I still found it to be a beautiful bond that was well thought out and something beautifully crafted. I'll always love Tifa, and she'll always be one of my favourite characters in all of fiction. Her only flaw is that she's not real, but she's too good for reality.
They have a romance now because they kiss in Rebirth! And in part 3 we still have the Lifestream and Under the Highwind for more romance between Cloud and Tifa!
I think people who assume that others like a character only for how they look tell a lot more about themselves with that comment than the person they’re commenting on LOL. We love well-written and engaging women in video games! This made me want to try FF, I’ve never played!
Great piece! I've seen many people criticize Tifa for lying to Cloud (or not telling him he wasn't there in Nibelheim), but i always thought she doubted herself. One, Sephiroth stabbed her and she was in a coma after that, so, murky memories. Two: Cloud recounts the incident 100% how it happened (because he was actually there but hid from her). If someone recounted to me events to a T while ibm though they weren't there, then I would doubt my own memories too. In OG FFVII, Tifa learns to finallly speak up and express herself. She finally tells Cloud he "wasn't there", but mostly she finally shares her feelings. Great character as you say. In truth, all characters are superbly written in FFVII, but I would say Remake made Barrett my MVP. Aerith is also super loveable, but her "Choses One" status makes her less relatable (although tifa/aerith friendship is one of my favorite aspect of the Remake)

What I always loved about Tifa was while her friends use all kinds of weapons to fight, Tifa just uses her fists. She will never hesitate to rush a 40 foot tall monster and punch it in the face repeatedly and I always thought that was one of the coolest things about her
Rebirth really made me think 'Well holy shit' because the way she moves - her speed, her combos, her raw damage potential, is comparable to and even exceeds most members of the party. Even Cloud doesn't do too much more damage than she does. Now consider the fact that Cloud is basically Captain America, while Tifa is a normal person with no special powers (except if you count her Zangan-style martial arts). She's comparable to a super soldier.

I love her fighting style so much; it’s fun and keeps you on your toes. I also love the combat dynamic Cloud and Tifa show together throughout the game. They trust each other mutually in combat and flow together so well. It all goes back to this idea that the two of them are always somehow in sync with each other - whether it’s slaughtering foes, or falling in love

Like I think Red and Cait Sith had a moment where they did a combo move in a cutscene which was super crazy. And yes, I am aware of Tifa the Stagger Goddess. xD 9999 damage when staggered is utterly bananas.

It was her undying devotion to Cloud in the OG that won my heart. The scene of her breaking down when you find Cloud in Mideel is going to be heartbreaking in the remake.

It pains me to no end watching brilliant characters like her or Pyra and Mythra be treated like there’s nothing to them aside of their looks. This is much more than a video. It’s a love letter to the true meaning of the word beauty.
The whole sequence inside Cloud's memories cements her as one of the best female characters in Final Fantasy alongside Yuna, and one of the best female characters of all fiction. Not just that, but the segments before where she functions as the team leader showcase how emotionally strong she is, while still dealing with some tremendous pain inside.
That was really well explained! This is the main reason why Tifa is one of my favorite characters, not just because that she is pretty which is the least important, it's just the way she was written and how well-thought out she was, not some lazily written Mary Sue like Marinette Dupain-Cheng from Miraculous Ladybug. Also the chemistry between her and Cloud is just perfect, which is a reason why I ship them together, they're perfect for each other. It's a crap shame that a lot of people shamelessly only look at her body and only care about it alone, than her actual character, and the connection that she has with real people. She truly feels like she is one of us even though she is only a fictional character. Also, I noticed this video is incredibly underrated, this DESERVES more views! I feel like most people assume people like her for her looks. Maybe at first but its her personality i think that most people fall for eventually. Shes withheld and polite and wants love and security. Its pretty evident. Shes the most real character to me. She feels things out and is never quite sure so she dont say much. People say vincent is quiet. Tifa nearly is as quiet. And when she speaks it has gravity cause its not often she shows her feels.
Honestly, I wasn't sure if to watch this video before, cause I didn't want to get spoiled, but I'm glad I did. From your descriptions alone, I can definitely see why Tifa is a favorite among many players. Hopefully I'm able to give FFVII or FFVII Remake a try and experience for myself the intricancies of these characters and more.

Tifa isn't just waifu material. She is THE waifu. The ultimate one. She goes to unspeakable lengths and endures incredible pressure and pain in order to support the man that she loves and everyone else around them in the exact way that they need. Tifa is incredibly strong, not just physical, but much more emotionally. She is a beacon of light for everyone else to rely on. She's upholding positivity in the face of absolute terror and darkness. Tifa is 130% selfless. She never asks anyone for help but always provides help to everyone, without expecting the same from them. She always hides her true feelings in order to not drag anyone else around her down, but sometimes, she lets it shine through. Just a little bit, so people know she is for real and not just a perfect human being roboter. People like her are bound to succeed in life, no matter what the circumstances and are probably already taken at an early age. :/ She's the kind of person I'd need in my life, but never got. I'm almost 31 now. I was strong enough to survive on my own but the damage is already done and will never fully heal. My Depression was extremely harsh and long and almost got me dead on multiple occasions. Wouldn't have happened with a Tifa on my side.

Tifa has always been my favorite FFVII charachter, and on my top 3 of FF characters overall. One thing that is almost never mentioned is the friendship between Aerith and Tifa. Sadly most of the times it is reduced to "love" rivals. However, in On a Way to a Smile, which are.the direct aftermath events of the game, you can finally notice all her pain and sorrow regarding loosing Aerith. Aertith was her best friend, and it always saddens me how she had to face and overcome that sadness on her own, being the strong pillar and understanding friend and motherly figurebfor everyone. So overlooked this part of her. So after reading OAWTAS, I really loved her even more. That's all I'll add since this explanation was 👌🏻🤌🏻

The way I see it is Tifa's physical beauty is like the icing on a cake or the wrapping paper on a gift box: The outer shell that conceals the actual goodness within. I would argue she's gone through more than even Cloud at this point, despite both having to endure the Nibelheim massacre and the Sector 7 Plate collapse. She lost her mom due to illness even prior to Nibelheim's destruction, and almost died herself even before that fateful day. And THEN Nibelheim happened. Then Traces of Two Pasts gets released, and we get to find out more about her early days in Midgar, as well as the surgery that repaired her after Nibelheim. And then Rebirth added yet MORE stuff! Like... Square, please. Stop making this poor girl suffer. I wanna give her such a big hug. She deserves it for being so patient and kind for so long. If I were her, I'd have lost my freaking mind.

Tifa is the best female character of all time.
Tifa is part of my holy trinity of characters. i have Tifa, strong but sweet and caring like no one else. Sol Badguy which is a reverse Tifa, he is powerfull and act though but hide the fact that he is the most caring and emotionally damaged in the game. And... Daniel from the french movie taxi... one of the most realistic french character even written i swear.

Tifa Lockhart is absolutely my favorite character in FF7 and she's very relatable when it comes to her writing, personality and designs. Especially in the Remake, her altruistic, empathetic, motherly side comes through. She only became an eco-terrorist because Shinra figuratively and literally took almost everything from her and people she cares about multiple times. She would do anything for the one's she loves, including sacrifice her life. That makes her equal best girl to Aerith.
By the way, I wrote this comment before the video really started, so I wrote those character traits before you spoke them. We are one hundred percent in agreement with why Tifa is an incredible character all around, and why she'd be an amazing human being if she existed at all. If anything, she's too perfect, with even her flaws making her all the more beautiful. She should be absolutely broken by what has been done to her, but she's also incredibly resilient, forever willing to battle on into that uncertain future because she is utterly courageous when necessary. Tifa is indeed the third most important character to the events of FF7 as Cloud could not have recovered without her help so that they together could stop Sephiroth from preventing Aerith from using Holy to stop the Meteor he had summoned. Even if Cloud dealt the deathblow, she made it possible, every person on Gaia owes the party a debt of gratitude for their lives, but especially Aerith, Cloud, and Tifa most of all, though she would never admit it because she probably doesn't believe in doing heroic things for recognition. If anything she would more likely be preoccupied with all the lives she failed to save along the way, always wishing to do and be better. And did I mention that on top of being a super awesome human being she can suplex a WEAPON? That's the total package right there, even Aerith couldn't manage that one.

I love Tifa. I hope they continue exploring her trauma with Sephiroth as well in rebirth. I think why Cloud and Tifa work well with people is because they are both damaged people who went through the same accident and found themselves years later and I’m not denying cloud doesn’t have great love for Aerith lots of people ship him with her and I found her an incredibly well balanced character too with the trauma of losing her mother to Shinra and growing up because she thought she was alone in terms of being the last Cetra. I just think if what cloud and Tifa don’t have is romantic love they have a balance of living with that scarred trauma of what happened in Nibelheim and being survivors themselves of what that terrible man did. I hope rebirth explores this more. Tifa and Cloud sharing their trauma and find out the truth is what will most likely be as interesting as it was in the original game but in the context of this remake it can be more emotional with the voice acting talents who are so incredible at their jobs.

Dont ban me for being vulgur 😂 but im 2000% convinced tifa coulda been A cup and been just as popular. People who think otherwise have not played the game. Shes loved almost entirely on personality alone. She is so sweet and so realisticly portrayed and lovable. I almost feel like they made her attractive on purpose just to throw people off. Like a red hearing or like a trick. I also think those fighting to make sure she dont get... nerfed. I think its far farrrr more to do with people loving tifa as a character. I'm really sick of anti-Tifa people trashing her character and acting like EVERY SINGLE ONE of us only like Tifa for her sex appeal. I've played the og in my early twenties Honestly I couldn't connect much with cloud, was only slightly surprised when aerith died. I actually liked TIFA, red, barret more. Yuffie as the comic relief but sometimes a bit annoying. But TIFA stuck with me because she was unusual, strong, physical character yet undeniably female. I couldn't tell how they looked but Advent children finally showed what the devs were going for. Cloud's too androgynous. i liked how Barrets a good looking black guy, an astonishing physical specimen, aerith too little screen time, Vincent is really cool. Yuffie is such a pretty, lovable pest. TIFA looked a bit mannequinish BUT I could see what they wanted her to be. I was just disappointed how the movie was about cloud mostly when I wanted the whole group to shine. TIFA looked great even in action but why weaken her and the team. she had this cool iconic moment. But I'm so annoyed loz used electricity on her 3x. Plot armor. Clearly shows Devs liked cloud

Tifa had more development in the original than Aerith tbh. I think it's the music and the cutscene, also Crisis Core, so Aerith had more popularity or huger impression thus in the remake they prolonged the journey with Aerith and more interactions. Conversely, little Tifa plot in the remake by now.

I NEVER admired Tifa because she was hot even back in 1997. there are plenty of hot women in video games. Tifa is A GOOD PERSON and she stuck by her friends til the bitter end. She exhibits motherly traits, and is empathic. EVERYTHING A GOOD WOMAN SHOULD BE. Tifa is awesome. I even remember back when I was young and being like "This dude has a sword, this dude has a machine gun for an arm, this chick is just fighting with her bare hands!?!?!?!?!"
I agree, I never found her to be a hot, sexy, supermodel kind of character. I always thought of her as this tough-looking martial artist with a feminine streak as soon as I first saw her. She also has a nice down-to-earth look to her to contrast with Aerith's fairy-tale look.
