What is ASMR? According to Wikipedia:
Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR), sometimes auto sensory meridian response, is a tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. A pleasant form of paresthesia, it has been compared with auditory-tactile synesthesia and may overlap with frisson.
ASMR signifies the subjective experience of "low-grade euphoria" characterized by "a combination of positive feelings and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin". It is most commonly triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, and less commonly by intentional attention control.

  • Note that he doesn't have the need of whispering and even softspeaking is only used at certain times. Many asmrtists should think about this, whispers or soft speak seems to be a must in asmr content, when the truth is that the key element is the atmosphere. You could perfectly speak at a normal tone, if you build the right atmosphere to relax your audience.

  • Cadence, rhythm, tonality and volume are auditory factors in ASMR. But they trigger responses because the artist is doing them unconsciously. Or very skillfully on cue. This is my favourite channel for this reason. Most channels in this field of entertainment have little autonomy and seem to jump on whatever the trend is. The artist in this channel simulates the natural affects of one of the phenomena of rapport which is what is now known as ASMR Long winded of saying thank you for your videos

  • You are such a good team. 👌 I really enjoyed the insight into how you interact with real non-youtubey patients too. Everything about this is so professional and patient-centred. Awesome. It gave me vivid memories of how the doctor at the specialist eye clinic looked after me and my squinty eye when I was really little.

    @dreamfolorn@dreamfolorn2 жыл бұрын
    • You never told me about your squinty eye.

      @SRPASMR@SRPASMR2 жыл бұрын
    • @@SRPASMR Hah, my left eye has been squinty since birth. I used to go to a proper hospital service and I was the toddler with glasses and an eye patch. At age 14-ish I got super vain and stopped wearing my glasses. I was told that my eye would likely weaken and that I would get headaches and lose vision, but I was pig headed. I was also incredibly lucky, as my vision actually corrected itself instead. 😅 Both my eyes work sort of independently of each other now, and my right eye vision is apparently absolutely superb to account for my weaker left eye. I don't even need glasses now, but I can't use binoculars because it would involve my eyes communicating in a way that they now can't. The only sign of my squinty eye now is that my left eyelid drops slightly when I am really tired.

      @SRPASMR@SRPASMR2 жыл бұрын
    • @@SRPASMR Only if I am having to focus very quickly on things up close. It takes a moment. If I switch my vision to close up very quickly I see the object as double and it kind of slides together into one picture within a second or two. It's sort of hard to explain. 😂

  • Microphone distance is paramount to build an atmosphere, ASMR is meant to be relaxing and in this instance it is to replicate an appointment. If you're close up onto a microphone, you're forced to whisper and tread carefully. While when the microphone is a bit farther away, you can speak normally without worry of spikes in the audio. Great production quality, as always.

  • I can vividly remember the first time I discovered eye floaters. I didn't know what they were until 12 years later. I was swimming in a pool in the middle of summer in Alabama at my Grandparent's house. Freaky thing to see, I rubbed my little eyes red, thinking I had worm in my eye.

  • I'm always surprised by just how different British accents can be from one another. It seems there are at least a dozen regional dialects, at least from what I can deduce as an ignorant American lol either way I always love to hear your accent and your voice is so soothing. You've become one of the few ASMRtists I can call a favorite of mine, and I'm pretty picky about it. Keep up the good work!
