  • no equal pay when women don't watch women?? Lets' examine that assumption James. Her's some recent stats from the Fifa Women’s World Cup 23 regarding your argument. Here they are: • Over 1,715,000 tickets now sold worldwide for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023 • China PR produced the highest audience for a single match anywhere in the world. 53.9 million viewers watched their match against England. • Millions of people tuned in to view the Australian’s women’s team’s epic victory. It was the highest rating TV program of 2023, not only claiming bragging rights over the AFL and NRL’s main events from 2022, but also eclipsing all of this year’s State of Origin battles in rugby league and all the big reality TV shows. The Matildas’ victory reached an incredible 6.54 million people on Seven and 7plus, with an average audience during the game of 3.56 million. The game’s average audience of 3.56 million included a national broadcast audience of 3.18 million viewers on Seven (2.29 million in the capital cities) and another 384,000 viewers on 7plus. The latter figure is a record for an individual event on 7plus. • The opening day of the Women’s World Cup 23, Thursday, 20 July, saw more than 117,000 fans pack Eden Park in Auckland and Stadium Australia in Sydney. The 42,137 who attended New Zealand’s opening night defeat of Norway in Auckland was an all-time high for a football match - for women or men - in the country, while the 75,784 fans in Sydney for Australia’s match against the Republic of Ireland was the highest attendance at a FIFA Women’s World Cup for 24 years. • The Matildas have sold more jerseys ahead of the FIFA WWCup than the Socceroos managed during and since the men's tournament last year. And so have the USWNT. The numbers show the real situation. Seems there are millions worldwide (both men and women) who like and attend Women's football. And it’s only going to get bigger. There is room for us all in the beautiful game.

    • I think the argument is that patriotism is what is fuelling the viewership. When the World Cup is over, how many people start going to watch the Women's A League or Premier League or whatever league around the world. How many Messi Miami jerseys get bought compared to Kerr Chelsea jerseys because they are both the best players in the world.

    • Ask an Australian which Australians won the Noble Peace prize and few would know? Sport is all muscle and no brain power. Name a great Australian author or Scientist or intellectual ?

    • clearly you aren’t very smart, the Australian womens team (the matildas) got more views and pulled in more money than the Australian men’s national team (the socceroos) ever did. So by your logic, and by logic in general, they SHOULD be getting paid more.
