Changing brake pads on my 2004 Toyota Hilux (KNZ165R).
Very straight forward job on these cars as you can see, most Toyotas will have a lot of similarities to this video too.
Quotes for this sort of job performed by a mechanic can range from $300-500. So if you have a few hours of spare time it’s definitely worth doing it yourself.
The high performance brake pads cost me around $90 so big savings can be made.

Good video. I have always removed the caliper, then remove brake pads. Some manufactors allow easier removal of the brake caliiper. Alas, your method seems much easier for just brake pads on at least thisToyota. I have always been paranoid about the shims. Years ago I had the brake pads on a Frontier put done by a shop. They must have put the shims on wrong, as they shifted out and marred the rotors. Think it was a bad design. years later when i did the brake job, I left the shim out. No issue.
Cheers mate. Interesting story about your Frontier. From what I understand the shims just provide a smooth and even surface for the pistons to actuate onto. I could be wrong though.
