The Allen Iverson of wide receivers. Pure heart
I always seen similarities faxxxxx
Great description
Great comparison
Height wise but I see more similarities with t.o and A.I
He also ran a 4.3 and was built like a tank. A little more than just heart.
“To show my teammates that I’m dependable, and to show you jackasses that at age 37 I can still play “ noted big dog
Steve Smith is the perfect example of “its not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.”
to be only 5'9" Steve Smith was strong as hell..one of my favs ever
Whenever a rookie scores on his first touch, he goes on to be great.

This guy WAS my NFL childhood. Incredible to see who he's become after football and everything he does for the Charlotte community. Him not being a first ballot HoF'er is a CRIME.
I agree 100% and then some. He was simply incredible. I wouldn't part with an autographed #89 for 100 million dollars. Truly I wouldn't. My favorite player of all time. Beyond a shadow of a doubt. His ability. The way he played the game and most importantly the pure heart he showed every single game. He'll never be replaced in Carolina. It is also a crime he didn't finish with us. Only a fool wouldn't do everything they could to keep him happy and in our colors.
To me and for me, he’s very clearly the pound for pound greatest receiver ever and it’s not close. He left money on the table his rookie year because some teams were afraid to draft him thinking he’d be a menace in the locker room too 😅
He us a FBHOFE'r for sure in my book and anyone that knows a lick about the game no doubt. Loved watching him play.
He was like a wide receiver with the mentality of a running back. On my top 5 list foresure.
More like the mentality of a linebacker lol. He was amazing to watch
More like the mentality of a linebacker lol. He was amazing to watch
on my top 1 list
This is well said!! Accurate!!
“Will no longer to be antagonizing defensive backs” 😂😂. He’s a legend. He gave me hope to be short and still be Hall A Fame WR. 🐐🐐🐐
This dude gave me the confidence to play up against anybody even though I’m 5’8. True legend right there. Gotta be a HOF
The TD he caught from Matt Moore when he broke his arm and held on to the ball anyways. GOAT
Absolutely. I remember watching that play live, and when I saw the hit I knew his arm was broken immediately. I was simultaneously thrilled to see him score and heartbroken knowing he was gonna be out for a while recovering. The dude is one of the toughest people I've ever seen in my life. Made guys twice his size look like chumps. 👍
Dude is an inspiration to the smaller WR. The attitude swagger roughness toughness never give up is what I embody

A man this size shouldn't have played wr the way he did. 5'9 played like 6'4 and could play special teams too? My favorite receiver and imho very underrated. Incredible heart and played w/ crazy energy
Back in the day when Steve young was on mnf they came to Carolina and interviewed smitty for the segment before the game and young was like dude of you played for the 49ers back then or Brady now with the west coast short passing game style and played the slot you would break every record known to man. 150 catch seasons and shit. But we were forced to play him at no 1 at 5,9 and thank God they did
Though I'm a Raiders fan, I always loved watching Smith play. He's one of the few from the modern era that is tough enough to have played in any era. One of the best and a first ballot HoF'er in my book
When he clocked in, he punched everyone out.
This dude is underrated when it comes to discussing WR greats. Respect to Rice, Miss, Nelson, Johnson...but I’ve never seen those dudes fight as much or play with as much ferocity as Steve Smith Sr...mad respect to that guy. He’s one of those rare dudes who backed every word smack he spoke.
Standing at 5`9"... 5'9"... He was not only a great WR, but defender of the ball if it was underthrown and/or intercepted. Wish Seattle had this guy.
Rb and db turned wideout.
Man it just hurt seeing him in a different uniform. He’s always gonna be known as Steve Smith from the Panthers.
No because he got rudely cut from them. They cut him like nothing. He said in interview is is a raven... he was also mad at the Panthers for doing him dirty.
@@Erick_osvl The Panthers HAHAH. You mean Dave Gettleman (they guy who trade OBJ) if he hates us so much why is his foundation in Charlotte. Why is he visiting our Training camp every week?,, Good to be back"
Kevon Seymour #KS27 Correct. He didn’t love the organization back with Gettleman as GM, but once Hurney came back, and Tepper embracing Smith, Smith came back too.

Finally got my favorite receiver of all TIME A HIGHLIGHT REEL💯
First and last NFL , NCAA nice profile pic
He IS my favorite WR all time.... You can name anyone, I really don't care, he's THE GUY to me
Another 1 - on the way
Me too, bro. I’m a Michigan native who watched every play of Calvin Johnson’s greatness. And most of the other greats in WR history. But Steve Smith, man. The WAY he played was just so fun to watch, and should be film study for EVERY NFL rookie offensive skill player on how to fight for every yard, on every down. Dude was the definition of a DAWG.
Has the most devastating stiff arm in NFL history.
Derrick Henry may not agree
@@daroldpowell3318 ...... I know, because he has humility and he may even name a bunch of guys who came before him.
Derrick Henry is twice his size. He was 5’9” but played like he was Derrick Henry’s size. He wasn’t no punk for sure.
@@daroldpowell3318 Steve smith is 5 9
His spin move after the catch was legendary too. He is probably my favorite player in NFL history. He was a small lion out there. It was a joy to watch his career.
What a legend, I got into sports at a very young age so it’s sad to see more and more of my childhood favorites are retiring.
it is one of the reasons i care so little for the nfl anymore. all the greats are gone.
5:34 One of the best plays I remember by Steve. Dude got hops and he stiffed arm the shit out of the CB in mid-air. There's also the one against the Giants where he caught the ball, took a hard hit that broke his arm, but still held onto to get the TD. That arm was dangling.
Crazy
“Go ask your defensive coordinator if you can handle me alone” “What did he say?” “He said no didn’t he?” *Pats shoulder* “Next time Sir”
As a saints fan I was glad when he left Carolina! Dude was freaking good.
Lmao. I was mad they got rid of him
Had we kept Smitty ? Panthers blow the ponys out by 40+ at the bowl like the Seahawks did.

I agree man. The man is too good and too talented to be left out of Canton
@@ogrebattlefan 100% 1st ballot hall of famer no question or conversation about it.
@@CodeineAbdulJabbar Dude yes, for real. IMO Steve is the baddest and most talented dude to ever put on a Panther's jersey. Only person who could give him a run for that would be Peppers, but I think even he'd agree with that assessment lol
I'm shocked that he isn't already in the HOF. First time I knew this.

The Carolina Panthers are my favorite team and my favorite player was Steve Smith. Love him and his play.❤
@Harry Engel CMC aint bad either..dudes a legit savage
My favorite WR of all time because he played with more fire and heart than anyone else out there 🔥
Same for me

Got him and b Sanders Jersey hanging
He was BEASTMODE before BEASTMODE. My 3 favorite WR EVER!!
Love this guy. One of my favorite receivers of all time. one of the toughest, meanest, big hearted players to ever grace The NFL.
I miss him.. He brought so much excitement to my life just watching him on the field.
My favorite player of all time. I miss the excitement he brought to the game. It was violence and explosion from the receiver position. Beautiful.
Dude was badass. Glad he spent a few years in BMore.
Delhomme was slangin' that rock. I completely forgot.
Yeah but sometimes he would sling 5 ints
He slung us out that Arizona game at home
He was good for us until that shoulder injury took him out the game.

Steve Smith will always be my favorite player ever. Very talented and fun to watch him play. People may have hated him for his attitude but I don't see attitude I see passion.
They never show the play where he scored a TD against the Giants and broke his forearm at the same time, and just casually jogs off the field! Forever legendary!
Wow I just now realized that Steve smith owns my falcons in every game he has played Atlanta he has either had 100 yards or a TD and as a falcon fan I am glad he signed with Baltimore that year
This guy was a true football player. As tough as anybody over the last 20 years. Much respect from Boston.
Smitty is the reason I became a Panthers fan he got heart for days & made big plays 1 of the greats at his position
2nd time making this point on a Steve Smith tribute. I watched a lot of his games being a Panthers fan. Maybe the best run blocking receiver I have seen. Even on run plays you watched for what Steve Smith was doing. He often would block a DB into the ground. I have seen quite a few defensive backs lose their sand trying to deal with Steve Smith. Fred Smoot was never the same after playing him. DeAngelo Hall pitched a fit and got ejected for it because he couldn't shut Steve Smith up. Janoris Jenkins couldn't deal with him. And I guess we all know about Aqib Talib. Ice up son!
Greatest football player ever pound for pound.
Facts
I’m definitely putting him top 20 in that category especially off the solid production he put in later in his career as well
@@Imlikemelo underrated in your book

He backed up his trash talk very well.. 1 of the Greats!!!
I almost swapped from the panthers to the ravens when they cut Steve Smith. Still mad they did him like that. Hell they did Julius Peppers and Cam the same way.
The original beast mode
One of the greatest ever, my favorite player of all time
He’s definitely in my top 10 & this coming form a Saints fan
I wish they would have beat NE in the Superbowl. Steve is the man! Also that offensive facemask against the bengals was fuckin legendary. Beast!
One of my favorite football players growing up. Absolute dawg.
Man we’ve had a lot of good people around our team at one point and I gotta say Smith is hands down our best receiver maybe even best player we have ever had.
Missing one highlight; breaking his arm on a touchdown catch from Matt Moore to close out the Meadowlands in 2009! As an Eagle fan, so, SO sweet
Yea I remember that game and hit my favorite player of all time
Love these videos! maybe make one with Chad Johnson?
Panthers fan since day one. There will never be one like him ever. Definitely the best Panther ever. Big shoes to fill. Still love that guy.
These are the best highlight videos. No obnoxious rap, and slowdown + replays kept to the minimum. Great work
Steve Smith....legend 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻👍👍👍👍
Thee best WR in history! Nobody had attitude like Smitty! Short guy can do it better than all! #89 #SMITTY
The GOAT of the Carolina Panthers. True Legend
Steve Smith Sr. belongs in the Hall of Fame. This man made the Carolina Panthers a relevant franchise, and he did this as a WR with no real QB talent outside of Cam Newton and Jake Delhomme. He's in the top 10 for receiving yards all-time, and he's number 12 for receptions all-time.
Best player i ever saw in person. Over 30 panther games at this point and he never had a bad game and im talking in person. Prolly 20 he was playing. I saw the bengals game against peter warrick ehere panthers scored 53 points or something crazy but smith had two returns and a td catch or something nuts. It was a crazy stat line. Seriously tho worst game i saw him have was against the redskins and it was like 3 cstches 80 yards and we won and he had a catch where he got tackled at the one. He was so consistently great. Baller
Why this video doesn't have like 3m views is crazy
One of the first WRs I ever remember loving to watch. He and Jerry were my two favorites
Thank u you guys keep doing it pls make more players highlights u are the best #nfl
Great Vid, Really did a great job showing how great steve was.
Most admirable thing about Smitty in my opinion is that he was always Smitty. Never put up a front. Met him at a Fuel Up To Play 60 summit around 8 years ago and spoke with him. I challenged him to a “milk drinking contest” 🤣 and he hit me with the “I don’t drink milk” line. We spoke about how dedicated he was to keeping his body healthy. Bet that’s one of the reasons why he was antagonizing DB’s at almost 40 years old! From a kid growing up in North Carolina during #89’s PRIME, Thanks for your sacrifice!
The only receiver since 1992 to get the receiving triple crown. Most yards, TDs, and receptions in 2005.
and do it the year after he broke his leg

Love these highlights favorite NFL player would really like to see this guy get inducted into the hall of fame.

Steve Smith is a absolute Warrior.
He's my favorite WR....Heart, Toughness, Desire, Strength, SWAG!!!!!....Agent 89..."Grown Man Strength"
Underrated WR
As a die hard falcons fan but I loved Steve Smith. Dude was an animal and he was small. That's what I liked the most. I was an all playing LB in high school and I just wanted to bring that feistiness on the field
I’m a raiders fan… and I love this guy, was my fav player.
My favorite and the greatest receiver all time in my book. He was 5'9 and was showing everyone out. No one could scare that man and he was never afraid to defend himself or his teammates.
Doug Baldwin is like a value brand Steve Smith imo. They’re both not the biggest or the fastest but they play with an intense passion that makes them great.
Baldwin is like the calmer version of Steve Smith
AB Reminds Me Of Him Too
Steve was fast
It’s sad to see smith out of the league and Baldwin on verge of retiring cause of injuries and I’m a huge Seahawks fan 😣😣
Smith was one of the fastest in the league in his prime. "Y'all must've forgot"! - Roy Jones Jr.
Dudes like him make me miss the sport salute to a legend
Definitely on my all time favorite list
I love this guy so much. In his last season in Carolina I remember seeing him go off on a ref to the point that they actually reversed an offensive PI call. 5'9" and one of the scariest dudes to play the game.
Tough as nails, will to win, freak athlete, AND he has the best celebrations.
Just happen to look up smitty highlights and came across this one man he was a dogg no 🧢 still my my favorite player of all time 🔥 🔥

This guy's a beast! 💪🏽 5'9" and punking dude's. 🏈 Seen this guys on the ESPN NFL jobs hosting and was like let me look this guy up 🤯 and what a Legend 🐐
There NEVER be another force like this in the NFL. I'm here because I miss this guy and the energy that he brought to the field😔...and I'm a cowboys fan😔😔😔
I love that I grew up watching him. I remember one time when I was at the open workouts the panthers hold every season I tried to get DeAngelo Williams to sign my Steve Smith jersey and he was like "that's a smitty jersey I can't sign that" 😂
No one better after the catch. unstoppable with the ball in his hands
