  • Interesting approach. Could you clarify the color coding a bit?

    • Thank you for your question! Using color coding in grammar involves highlighting each meaning unit with different colors. This allows for easy analysis of the grammatical functionality of each meaning unit within the sentence. For example, in the sentence 今年我要多运动 (This year I will exercise more), we can use green to highlight the meaning unit 今年 (this year), black for 我 (I), red for 要 (will/want to), etc. This approach helps us examine the word order in the pattern more effectively. Instead of memorising the structural formula (e.g., Subject + Time word + modal verb + Adverb + main verb) and then filling in the corresponding words, using this deductive approach will help us actively understand the grammar and apply it in actual language use during communication. I hope this helps :)
