Montbeliarde
A red and white pied cattle breed from France, Montbeliarde bulls are used primarily for dairying and cheesemaking purposes. They’re also particularly renowned for their milk; traditionally, the milk is processed into Emmental and Gruyere cheese. Apart from their commercial pros, Montbeliarde bulls are incredibly fascinating to look at, thanks to their great sizes and strength. The bulls stand 148 cm, weighing 1100-1200 kg on average. They’re also famous for their rigid feet and strong udders. All these features make Montbeliarde a hardy, easily managed breed, which adapts pretty effortlessly to all environments. These bulls also have unparalleled beefing qualities - the rapid growth rate and good conformation mean that the young bulls are super beneficial for everyday uses!
Ongole/Nelore
The history of these stunning species of bulls dates back 2000 years before Christian times. The Aryans first brought the ancestors of the Nelore to India, and they’ve been an integral part of economic beef production in the tropics since then. Their most distinctive characteristic is the presence of a prominent “hump” behind their neck. Brazil has become the largest breeder of Nelore, from where the breed is exported to Argentina, Paraguay, Venezuela, Central America, Mexico, and the United States, among others. The prime advantage of these bulls is their hardiness, which enables them to surpass all breeds under poor range and drought conditions. They’re also heat and insect resistant and have high metabolic efficiency.
