The primary difference between these two men is this: Michael epitomizes intellectual manipulation, Sammy epitomizes physical intimidation. Both men are masters of their craft. This is a true Historical Document!
Great point cow
Imagine if these 2 worked together back then. One powerhouse crew right there them guys.
@@round_earther3195 yeah and that crew would’ve got ratted on!!!!
And both men need each other. Michael made the money and Sammy did the dirty work to protect him. I just wish in situations like this both men could acknowledge that what the other did was necessary for their own success.
Facts man facts they two different people
One difference here: Michael has moved on and Sammy can’t let go. Period.
Sammy actually has a legit mob legacy he left behind .....Sammy is the last remaining true mafioso ....as where Michael was a college kid who happened to have a step dad that was an underboss in a family . Michael owes his status in the mafia to his father 100percent ....he never earned his bones .
Respectfully I don’t know anyone who can say he never earned his bones! He made a lot of money for family he represented and that he was a part of, some do it through blood, some do it through business but definitely he earned his bones! Just because he didn’t break bones doesn’t mean he didn’t break bread with the correct people in the family and earn a lot of bread in the process! Was he a clean cut college kid, yes Sir….was Sammy a street raised hard worker….absolutely! But they were both important to their families! Just as a CEO is important to a business, so is the mid level manager that works under him/her! Great conversation…..
They are just 2 differing aspects of the same organisation, both get results. This just displays the differrent ways of obtaining that result. Michael is business whilst Sammy is fear/power. "two sides of the same coin"
@@TYSTYSTYS2000 exactly! One by force. One by finesse.
Sammy has a very heavy personality!!!
“Did you kill anyone?” “Let me tell you something. ..” That says everything you need to know
You sound like a clown admitting something like that
What do you mean ? That's a no?
My thoughts exactly!
@@rossbombard-ve7vwwhen you ask a gangster if he ever killed someone, and he doesn’t answer with a straight “no”, he killed someone
I think he’s bullshitting. I think he wants people to think he killed people, but I don’t think he ever did.
Michael holds himself with a lot of humbleness and decorum. There’s a lot of class within
Michael was a business man , a Politician ala Augustus, Bismarck, Hitler, Sammy on the other hand was a Soldier , a Commander ala Napoleon, Caesar, Tiberius, Patton etc , two different peoples on the same business
The craziest thing about that ending? Sammy is 76 years old and still that volatile and aggressive. Imagine what he was like in his 20s and 30s...
Giving the name “The Bull”
Truly believe he would have slugged michael straight through the eye socket if he had a piece on him there. Guy has an explosive temper and he demands submission when he speaks, that guy doesnt back down.
@@anthonyr587 Mike is too smart though. He wouldn't have let a guy that intense neat him with a gun. Or without backup near by.
Sammy is regressing, hate to say it.. have a look at former professional wrestler Verne Gagne, he killed another person in a retirement home with a wrestling hold. This happens a lot wether it's frustration with age or dementia I couldn't tell you
Hes a phony in my eyes. He acts like a straight woman in this interview...
The audacity of Sammy calling anyone a rat is mind boggling. 30 made men, mostly bosses went to prison for life thanks to Sammys big mouth. He literally sank the entire Mafia ship and here he is calling Michael a rat. That is hypocrisy on a whole other level.
Ur treating this like a Netflix series if it was u, you would've snitched too
Exactly & Sammy was rude as hell through this video. Saying little shady things & interrupting.
I’m sure you’d stay zip tie quiet after hearing tapes of the boss plotting to kill you too lol
Josh, those words on tape simply don't exist. Show us a tape and timestamp where john says, I want Sammy killed or, I want a hit put out on sammy or, im going to set Sammy up to take the fall for the prior hits I spoke about when my office was bugged. It doesn't exist. Nor do official gov documents proclaiming that. You're merely taking sammys word for it, that john said those things. His excuse for them not existing? They were redacted. That's a lie. Sammy also went in on a profer with his lawyer before formal charges were filed against john..and the 37 others Sammy assisted in getting federal convictions on.. All thanks to his cooperation as a star witness. You're taking the word of him. That's not based in facts. Again, show us anything that says that other then just coming from Sammy..il wait and hold my breath.. And eventually die before you ever show that because it don't exist. Only in sammys mind and you're taking his word on it. Its that simple. Say what you want, you're entitled to your opinions like anyone else. But don't misconstrue them as facts or.anything remotely based on factual evidence. It really is that simple.
I like sammy, im subscribed to him like I am to Michael. I won't just take the word of someone that something was said or happened over facts. Sorry. Sammy brought the entire family down based off of something he said happened that, doesn't even exist on tape or anywhere on official gov documents, other then his word. You also have to remember, he didn't just bring john down.. That's merely 1 man out of 38 convictions Sammy assisted on as a star witness for the gov. Those are facts. They can not be disputed. You may have your opinions but you may not dispute facts...unless you want to Sound like someone who has absolutely no idea about what they're saying or are such a huge fan of Sammy, they grift for him for free. Again, its that simple. Its not meant to be offensive. Just facts.

There’s a stark difference here between two mafia guys. One who resolved his actions and his past and moved beyond it, while still accepting it. And a guy who has not done that at all.
1 thing that makes this great. Is That he lets both the guys talk. And doesnt interject himself
Sammy wants Michael to be the same standard of rat as he is, it simply isn't true and it eats Sammy up inside because as a mobster he looks down on Michael and can't face the fact that Michael manoeuvred his way out the life without putting anyone away and isn't actually a rat. It kills Sammy even though he should just accept it.
Exactly
Correct. Salty Sammy
Somewhat true. We'll never know if Michael would have put other people in jail or not because he was the big fish they were going after. You can only rat up and in his case there was no one higher than him. He wasn't looking at consecutive life sentences. In my opinion if he was looking at a life Behind Bars he would have ratted on other people as well
You are spot on correct! It’s killing Sammy he’s obsessed and a little jealous. He’s not doing himself any favours hear. Round 1 to Michael hands down.
What confuses me is if Michael took a plea for a lesser sentence he would have been pressed for information and forced to explain how the whole scam worked. Therefore implicating others
Michael Franzese has been consistent in his statements across all forms of media, and with what he’s revealed. More importantly, with what he HASNT revealed….very intelligent on his part.
Your kidding I guess rite?
I agree, absolutely.
That's why Sammy called it a speech
Sonny Franzese didn’t raise a fool….Michael Franzese isn’t copping to a single thing he hasn’t been charged with or convicted of, and WHY SHOULD HE?
Michael would still be in jail today if it wasn't for an agreement he made with the feds. Sammy is right, if this was years ago he would be dead.
Only Patrick is able to pull off something like this. Awesome!!!
Michael Franese is the money making machine racking 5-10million dollars per week while Sammy is the Hitman that is active in the street. In Hycinth, the families actually needs both personalities in other to operate successfully. Great interview with PBD
Sammy made millions off all his construction contracts aswell, he’s not just a hitman.

Love to watch Micahels videos but he even threw his father under the bus in that boxing testimony. He named everyone involved in sports rigging, even the nj and Cleveland families. Michael was an informant. He makes excellent videos but I don't wanna hear about convictions either. Joe Valachi never got anyone convicted and he sang like a bird too. Why do you think Micahel couldn't even go to his own fathers funeral despite being back on talking terms with him?
The fact that Michael didn’t rat and doesn’t agree with ratting under any circumstance kills Sammy...
Michael ratted he couldn't go to his own dad's funeral. Norby Walter's he ratted on
@@damalman8223 Sammy ratted multiple times. Not really sure why he keeps acting like a made man. He’s being fraudulent. Gotta take each of these two men with a jaundiced eye and a grain of salt. It's their story, their history whether flawed or not. Family in the literal sense has different meanings for each man. Interesting stuff here. Thank you Patrick💙
Along with an exceptional intellectual capability, Michael is a true Gentleman!
Sammy is the only guy that could kill half his crew and friends, a 17 year old innocent kid, kill his Boss, then rat out the next Boss and 40+ other guys then throw around words like "betrayal" and "respect". The last guy that should talk about those things with a straight face. Secondly, Sammy's tough guy act is laughable. He was only tough when he was pretending to be your friend then having you shot in the back of the head, the second he actually had to prove he was tough and accept his punishment like a man he tucked it between his legs and ratted out absolutely every single person he could even the Juror he bribed. Michael was FAR more successful in that life. Michael used that life whereas that life used Sammy and you can tell how weak and inferior Sammy feels sitting with him when he tries to act like he'll beat him up and all that garbage. Michael isn't someone you're walking in to a room so give it up.
Finally someone that sees through his bullshit! He acts like a woman
Michael didn't even flinch when sammy got in his face
Brandon you make absolutely too much sense, and a lot of people will agree with you but a lot of them will also not hit the thumbs up button simply because we are in the era of delusion and also because you are on point.
Sammy and Michael are just different men. They both betrayed omerta period..... Sammy was a racketeer/hitman/underboss in the grimey part of cosa nostra killing and hands-on . Michael was intellectual and was part of the greatest scheme since prohibition.. Michael says he found god and changed his life. Sammy still has pain from his past. I love both of their podcasts.
So when you agree to the life you agree if you take advantage of, stray away from or go against the mafia.. you will be killed. It's your agreement when they burn the saint in your hand. Sammy was doing his job. That's why Michael never says shit about his killings be "illegitimate" cause he knows they are "legit" for the life. Sammy loved and respected the life so much he had to take those people down because he and the rest of the mafia agreed to it. Sammy isnt a rat either. He would have been killed in prison if he were.. He ratted on a guy who was going to set him up to take the fall and he said "fuck you" this is on all of us. Gotti sat there and was being the little prick he was by thinking he could lay blame on others and not expect blow back. Sammy cooperated not because he wanted to but because he was betrayed and knew the life had changed. If Gotti was like Sonney, Sammy would still in jail on a life sentence.

Michael has to be very careful what he says. He made no deals with the government or federal prosecutors. He never testified against anyone and left the mafia without hurting anyone. No deals with prosecutors or the government. Any admission could spell trouble for him. I love Michael and respect Michael far more then I do Sammy

He does. That his plan to make him slip up.
There are things that they BOTH know that we don't know. Sammy was a boss... He has insight into when Micheal was made... He KNOWS what Micheal did or didn't do.. If Micheal had ever hit anyone it would have been known by the the bosses. If Sammy says that MANY other made members questioned Michael's qualifications then that's something that we have to consider. I do agree that Micheal is doing what he has to here to avoid legal trouble but again Sammy isn't bringing this up because it's a hunch, he's bringing it up because it was a big deal amongst the families that Micheal got made before other guys that had been waiting... It's real easy for Micheal to say that he has no immunity but that is also a convenient way to dodge the question that he could answer off camera so nobody gets embarrassed on camera or admits to crime on camera .

I honestly feel like Sammy is jealous of Michael. First of all, Michael, unlike Sammy, didn't join the witness protection program. Hence, some things, if he admits them, can still get him interrogated and punished. Secondly, the fact Sammy wears his murders as a badge of honour shows he's a pretty low individual. And finally... Sammy using the excuse of "We bomb countries" to justify his actions shows he's a messed up individual. Any rapist and maniac can use it. Michael always carried himself with a lot of class... and managed to get out that life. That drives Sammy mad because he could never do that.
There is no reason for him to be jelous, he stood by his choice to cooaperate. Sammy did everything under the sun three Mafia wars, involved in 19 murders, was in commission meetings, he elevated to the Underboss position. Micheal couldn't excel even if he wanted to, Sammy had the power and Micheal didn't even with all the money he had. Just look the FBI tapes and transcript, Sammy was no jk. Micheal did talk to the goverment but he never took the stand but talking is "ratting"
Agreed. Sam still feels bitter, Michael has always seemed like a more standup guy.
Michael is clearly more intelligent and he made a lot more money. Still is making more to this day. Sammy’s ego doesn’t like being in second place. Sammy ratting put a lot of people away not just Gotti. So constantly bringing up Michael cooperating is ludicrous.
But a soldier killing people on order is supposed to be morally righteous? at least sammy killed only criminals like him.
Been saying this flat out last few vids on these two… Sammy is jealous micheal can hold his head way higher than him… micheal is more cosa nostra than him and doesn’t wanna be… Sammy isn’t and he still dreams to be and it kills him…. Micheal will always be in better standing than him…. Just facts!! Sammy did more damage with the killing of paul and what he and gotti did to the mafia and basically ended the rein it had!! That’s on him and that’s his legacy!!! He failed the whole life but wants to act like he loves it so much etc etc
Remember when Michael talked about those "Don't you know who I am?" kind of guys? Sammy is one of those guys. I like listening to Sammy's stories, I really do. It is so apparent that he feels he needs to expose Michael or try to make people see him as a fake, as if he just can't accept that Michael has truly turned away and made a better life for himself. Seems almost resentful.
I just don’t understand how u can 🐀 on someone or an whole organization an still think that u are apart of the mob .. shit is corney

I like Sammy and am grateful for his stories. I can't help, however, to take what he says with a grain of salt. It's hard to not notice that he's the hero in every story he tells. He's always painted as being totally honorable in the face of deceit and betrayal. In every story, he's painted as the omnipotent purveyor of morality and honesty in a sea of animals. And we all do that--make ourselves a good guy in every story from our lives. But considering his life, how can that actually be?
What makes u think hes lying

@@James-ov5kg Never said he was lying. It might just be the stories he chooses to tell. None of the ones he chooses make him look bad. Sammy came up in the ranks as a foot soldier then a notorious hitman to finally being on of the most infamous capos in mob history. He had to show his muscle every step of the way through extortion, or violence “Doing the dirty work” to earn his stripes. Micheal had a direct connection to “the life” through his bloodline, his father was practically La Costa Nostra royalty, but that wasn’t what punched his ticket in. His mental prowess and money making schemes are what turned him into a made man, in due time he would prove to be every bit of that by pulling off on the biggest racketeering schemes in mafia history and getting away with it! Needless to say they are two sides of the same coin. Two lifestyles of the same life, in the mob you were either a killer, an earner or both. When you look at their history, you’ll see that very same duality. Violence, intimidation, power and ambition is what created the empire we romanticize as “The Mafia”. These individuals are proof of that.

You need a pair of glasses and a new brain , Sammy hates hiis guts for he was not really about that life. Always living in daddys shadow protected
From a different world .would love to have a few beers with these two guys fascinating
Was cool to see chazz palminteri on here. Immediately thought of a bronx tale. Epic movie!
Sammy goes hard. Michael always a class act. We see the difference in approach and demeanor and how things don’t get past either one of these guys. I thought this interview would end differently. Very interesting
Sammy is an out and out street guy. He had to be this way to get any respect, it’s a tough life. To be as feared as he was in their life you had to do extreme acts of violence. But he was also a business man as well, this man owned all construction in Newyork and numerous other legit businesses plus illegal ones too. He was a huge earner and killer and that’s two traits you want in their life. Michael is intelligent and charismatic and the truth is he got made only because of his father. He didn’t earn respect on the street like sammy but he was a business guy and earned respect that way, he was a top earner so in other words he was untouchable. It’s two separate worlds but in the same mafia universe.
How did it end? Where is the rest?
Sammy bit that 🧀 tho lol
If there were any flies on either these guys they are paying f'ing rent
@@flashinthepan3273 that's what I want to know......
Sammy will probably never admit it, but he hates the fact that he became one of the things he most hated in his earlier life. And he hates the fact that it will now be part of his legacy. That's why I believe it makes him feel better when calling Michael out, and calling him a rat.
Spot on
100%
@G223 well said. Completely different ends of the spectrum. When Patrick tells Sammy to say what he really feels he exploded on Michael. Michael just stays calm and holds his ground.
@G223 needless to say two men I would not like too be on their bad side.
I "agree" with that, allegedly.
Michael answered the “making his bones “ question expertly. His facial expression belied him though. Saying he killed somebody would bring an indictment upon him. Plus, even if he did admit it, Sammy wouldn’t believe it or would question it further. Michael is far to smart for that
This is a heated agreement, they're saying the same thing, it's amazing!
The guy spends 4 minutes explaining how he cooperated with the government and sammy interrupts over and over "accusing" him of cooperating with the government with temper and disrespect. Michael's whole thing is "YES I COOPERATED, I AM A RAT. THANKFULLY I TRIED MY BEST TO MAKE SURE NO ONE DID A DAY IN JAIL AND NO ONE DID" ...Sammy's whole thing is "YOU COOPERATED WITH THE GOVERMENT, GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE"...what really bothers Sammy is the fact that he can't say no one did jail time because of his own cooperation.
Agree. Sammy exploding at the end made him look weak.
I used to watch every Mob documentary possible. Now I get to watch them tell stories first hand. So cool!!
At the end of the day, There will always be somebody in a group, gang, cartel or mafia who will end up snitching on everyone else to save his own ass and/or protect his own family. No matter how long they’ve been riding or working together. There will always be one or more who will end up opening his mouth. That’s why I strongly feel that before you end up having to make that choice of it ever came down to it, To think about even starting if you are that type of person. We all have a choice to make before and after and everyone is responsible for their own life at the end of the day.

Michael is on a whole different level than Sammy. Sammy knows it and he hates Michael for being better at the life. Sammy never would have gone as far as Michael. Sammy is always comparing himself to Michael because he's insecure.
So True!
Sammy would have whacked sonny if he ever would have had the chance. But with all the money sonny was bringing in the bossses would have killed Sammy b4 he got the chance
I more so think he just dislikes how Michael separates his cooperating from others in mob life Sammy was getting lots of money in his prime too

I think Sammy's is experiencing what's called "Shell Shock aka PTSD" from his mob experiences.
Michael is a og always with his street code on point
The ending was hilarious 😂
I think Sammy is bitter that the only way he could get out was to snitch his way out, Michael created a plan, got a deal he thought was acceptable and probably kept a few quid into the deal. He has came through the other side with some money, His self respect and a bloody good story to tell ❤️
Sammy is so bitter that he had to be a straight snitch to get out of the life and Michael used his intellect to definitely create a plan that allowed him to ride the line but not go 100 miles past it like sammy did.. and he can’t stand it so instead of talking facts and logic he goes right to anger and threats.. such a common and played out strategy lmao.. so i agree with you 100%

You either live in the past, present or future. People that live in the past usually have some blocking their psyche from pushing past the past. Usually trauma of some sort
He can't stop living in the past because he had it all back then he could do whatever he wanted pretty much had $$$ he was the underboss probably should have been the Boss but... An now all he can do is talk about the Mafia I'm sure he's not happy about this. Feel kinda bad for him in a sense. But he's making a living now.
You always hold on to your hay day as soon as Sammy got busted that life was over and became mundane especially after prison
I've had a temper issue at work in my old age and I use Michael as a role model on how to keep my composure. Knowing you can eat people, and people knowing you can eat them, is a powerful feeling. BUT ONLY, if you can control it. Weakness shows when you're easily rattled. Power shows when you control it and others know you can control it.

A guy I later became friends with tries to rob me (before we even met and became very good friends) and he never admitted he wanted to rob me even though the “evidence” for it was overwhelming. This guy was a career robber of houses and stores over 15 + years of experience
That was funny at the end. Once Sammy called Michael a RAT, Michael let Sammy know how he really felt. Lmao. Sammy wants to be tough so bad, but he is King Rat and he scares nobody anymore. "What are you going to do"? Lmao!
You can tell the difference between Sammy and Franzese. Sammy was a proper street thug that whacked 19 people and even in his old age he can't shake that mindset. Franzese was a sophisticated, intelligent kid and a strategic thinker. Franzese was a racketeer and a real money maker. Franzese was more like Big Paul Castellano. And Sammy was a brute like gaspipe.
@aj1990 Franzese played the feds. Told them he's ready to talk and then didn't give them anything. This is common knowledge.
@aj1990 Tell us who went to prison because of Michael Franzese? Lol, don't believe media articles. Wtf do journalists know. Tell us the names of all the people Franzese put in prison?
@aj1990 "You don't give them nothing and get a plea" You are talking absolute BS! You are talking through your ass. There are literally thousands of people around the country everyday that get plea deals. The system is designed to force people to take a plea. It makes the life of the prosecutor easier. They don't need to prove you are guilty and you get a reduced sentence if you take a plea deal. Plea deals literally happen thousands of times around the country everyday. It's obvious you dont know a f*cking single thing about the American justice system.
@@farzana6676 Sammy told earlier in the heated live stream that he thinks there is a possibility Michael actually intended for people to go to prison, but the case fell since the judge made a "mistake". It is true that he didn't put anyone in prison, but it can't be proven that it was his original intention not to put people behimd bars. Sammy claims that the judge made a "mistake" and Franzese didn't put anyone in prison only because of that. That isn't a light claim and it implies Sammy knows some details about the case or the trial. There isn't any evidence to debunk Gravano's claims and even Michael said so. Michael said that Sammy can't prove it to be true either. If you are objective and think critically, you should understand that there is a possibility that Sammy is actually right. It doesn't matter what is the outcome, what matters is the intention behind the act. I atleast can accept the fact that there is a possibility that Sammy is telling the truth. If Michael's intention was to put people behind bars, would he then admit to doing so should the case fail? Of course not. There is a possibilty that Michael had a "happy accident" and wears that as his badge of honour despite his original intention.
Michael is more patient then I would have been with some things Sammy was saying. He has great restraint.
Oh Yeah Over Patient!!
He's still scared of Sammy. Sammy is a killer, and Michael isn't.
@@justinthealpha6710 I really don't think he's scared of Sammy. I guarantee Michael had to kill to become made, he just doesn't talk about it. He said, "When I took that oath, I earned it." And followed by saying he's not going to say something that will put him in jail because he had no immunity (Unlike Sammy because he's an actual informant/rat.) Bottomline, Michael is just as capable of killing Sammy as Sammy is of killing Michael. Michael is NOT scared of Sammy and its clear by the way he speaks to Sammy and never once backs down from him.
@@ibrown3KC Sammy is 80 and michael is what in his late 60's? what is there to be scared of? they aren't killers anymore they're old guys, and who cares if Michael killed anyone or not? that doesn't make him tough, what makes him look soft is that he got anywhere only because of his father, not by any personal balls/talent/skills.

CLEARLY. if they were still in the life and this was a real sit down. as soon as Sammy lost his temper he loses
It's also laughable how he frames everybody's cooperation as being a rat, while his cooperation was completely justified.. rather than saying he broke omerta, he's saying that omerta disintegrated because he got betrayed by a guy. I'm not about that life, but a rat's a rat
seems like Sammy is mad because Michael talks over him and doesn't let him say a word, I doubt he's jealous of Michael more like he dislikes him a lot because he does come across as fake, and his style of communication (Screaming over sammy) is also very annoying and disrespectful.

Not just the big things, but every day bumps and slights. I have found that it is best to hear, talk things over with a 'closed mouth' person, and keep my focus.
A very common saying in Italian families, often for good reason.
