So gorgeous! Glad they’re being shown naturally, they look so much more balanced with a proper tail and ears. Plus breeders can’t hide poor ear/ tail sets this way, so judging is much more accurate

Beautiful dogs, cuter for having ears and tails. It helps make them more accessible as a dog, people aren’t so scared of them and we can spread love for this wonderful breed. But at the same time they are still the same powerful dobie and anyone who messes with them will get a shock.

That is true. Remember when we bought our Riesen Schnauzer. All of her dogs were big lap dogs. Some people did laugh about it, but she, the breeder, said that if a burglar came it would not be fun for that person.

I breed Dobermans and have several grand champions that I’ve bred but I’m scared to leave them natural (I’m in America) I have one female with natural ears and she constantly has hematomas in her ears from playing or shaking her head and I know my dogs wag their tails a mile a minute so I can only imagine the damage thatd be done if they had their tails. I want to do a crufts show but they can’t be docked or cropped and it’s kind of scary cause a puppy can look amazing and then not mature as great as you thought they would and not many people are looking for a Doberman without a crop or dock and a responsible dobie owner knows the risks with the tails and ears and the struggle

U know, foreigners can bring their natural dogs here to be shown, I think u can show in other countries,. A dobie is not a dobie, natural, looks like a mutt! I also hadscnauzers, & arenotsame looking. Sharp

I've never heard anyone having any problems in Europe. I think your fear is unfounded.

@@mariopandzaEurope is different from the US, Europe it’s standard the dogs are left natural because you can’t crop or dock. In the US 90% at least of people looking for dobies want their ears and tails done because that is the look they’re going for. If I have a litter of 10 and decide to not crop or dock any of them in hopes I get a champion from the litter I will likely have a hard time selling that litter even with the lineage I have behind my dogs and the titles. Or if I do the whole litter and only keep maybe one or two natural who will be my keepers and they don’t work out one I’ll have an older puppy/dog which is harder to place in itself but now on top of that I have a natural looking dog which most people don’t want and even tho it’s not a disqualification in US show rings it’s not preferred by the coaches

Tienes razón los ingleses han logrado un término medio entre lo alemán y lo americano. Creo los pies grandes aun son muy alemanes pero las cabezas no tanto. Otra cosa es q el perro alemán tiene menos definidas las marcas y tienden a estar mas negros, estos las tienen muy bien definidas. Saludos desde Londres.

Thankfully the vile practice of cutting their ears and chopping off their tail is banned (in dog-loving countries). Egotistical owners only do it to make them look mean. And no, cutting ears does NOT prevent ear infection - obviously cut ears will funnel dirt into the ear canal.

Agree about the tails as they get broken very easily so docking them is safer for the dog. However, cropping the ears is just cruel and unnecessary.

It's also illegal to crop the years and off the tail in Europe and the UK. It's considered animal cruelty.
