When installing bearing on shaft, hit/contact the bearing inner ring. Not the outer ring or it will damage the bearing, specially when it's a tight tolerance fit.

Для тех кому интересно - это планетарноцевочный редуктор… очень эффективная штука при понижении числа оборотов до больших значений в малом корпусе. Минус в сложности изготовлении и частых заклиниваниях…

Small taps may not he too bad. It's all a case of knowing metal and hardness and what impact will deform. You CAN use a chisel as a screwdriver and visa versa; depends on circumstances!!! PS. I own over a 100 ! .... and respect the difference!

Steel hammer and bearings usually don't mix unless destroying them..a rubber mallet would work a touch better I would guess..

- I don't think the few soft taps he gave the bearings would hurt them, though he could have greased the bearings before inserting them. Sure they will get grease eventually, but there can be some significant wear if they run dry under load for any period of time. The majority of wear to your engine bearings occurs in the first 30 seconds of starting your car in the morning.

Never tap on the center race of a bearing. You'll cause flat places on it and the it will wear out faster.

- If the press fit is on the inner, you tap on the inner, if on the outer, tap on the outer otherwise the balls leave dimples on the running surface and you start with a stuffed bearing.

- That is 100% wrong. First, the guy above me explained it well, and second these are hardened and wont take any damage from light tapping. The worst that could happen is that if you tap too hard the ring could shatter in thousands of pieces - but definetly not with the tapping shown in the vid

It’s sad that fewer and fewer people get experience how satisfying this is…rebuilding a transmission, steering gear, etc. with cleaned parts and new gaskets and seals.

I've rebuilt several of these units part of a centrifuge/strainer equipment. They have a grease line on the bottom. When the grease line brakes they don't last very long.

- It's a cycloidal gear and the grease is likely to be something called "Mollywhite 00 grease" or "FZ Multemp 00" If that helps at all

Not an excellent job! Looks like a job of a novice. should have packed both bearings with grease before mounting them. Pounding metal to metal is another no no!

- @@roaringcat1 Come on man, you use a bushing that is the same diameter as the inner race of the bearing, to lightly tap against. Never ever hit the outer race unless you like redoing your work in the not too distant future.

Everything was fine until he hammered on the outer race. Contrary to popular belief, you can use a hammer to seat a bearing. However, you must ONLY hammer on the race making contact. If you are seating it into a flange, you hammer the outer race; on a shaft, hammer the inner race. It’s intuitive once you understand.

Если нужно забить подшипник, то используй трубку того же диаметра, что и внутреннее кольцо подшипника. Технология провкренная временем. Трубка гораздо более мягкая, чем подшипник

Never hit the outside of a bearing that is the center part that is pressed on. It will damage the balls.

Cycloidal gearbox with what looks like FZ Multemp grease. This gear is normally used in applications that require zero backlash

- NLG 1 grease or 00 imo ,not very common to see since most parts use the type 2 but I see the mechanism there might require a constant lubrication flow grease tho

It's a sumitomo cyclo gear box not a auto transmission. It achieves incredibly low gear ratios the part he is striking in isn't damaged I've assembled hundreds of these.

Сколько помню, в СССР все молотком собирали, даже телевизор после удара по нему работать начинал😂 а теперь все увидев стук по подшипнику, умничают. Умелые руки, и молотком все аккуратно сделают, а рукопоп, и прессом перекосит обойму.
