People born in the 60s and 70s are the most luckiest to have grown up listening to the most amazing rock music ever.... Deep purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Lynyard Skynyrd, Kiss... just to name a few.... I'm truly blessed.. each time I listen I am taken back to my school days... best days ever...

Oh god I love hearing Lord's infectious keyboard. You never realize how crucial keyboard is in metal or rock music until you listen to a song without it. Obviously a song that normally has keyboard. Deep Purple wouldn't sound the same without Lord's playing. We need more metal keyboard players.

This whole band is so Hot!! on this song, that I'm surprised that the building they were talking about did not burn down because of them playing this song, They were Cooking!!! When I was 15, I thought that at 25 or 30, I would stop liking Deep Purple, and I would only listen to country ballads. Today almost to my fifties, my skin becomes like goosebumps when I listen to this song, 35 years later.
I'm 73 and have had the pleasure of listening to the evolution of rock and roll. Deep Purple is one of my all time favorites.
I'm 60....i listen all of this...
I am 26 but I listen to this kind of music, I am proud of my taste, even tho it's hard to meet people of my generation with same taste
Even now april 11 2024 that is one my favorite smoke on the water.
I was born in the 40's, turned 21 when Sgt. Pepper came out. They were insane times indeed! 😮😮
This song never gets old especially when you were a teen in the 70s growing up to it.
Have you forgotten "Hush?" kzhead.info/sun/g9moqMampGqsamw/bejne.html
Look at the photos on the album.

Song defines an age - - really magnificent corner-stone in the memories of my youth!
I was a high school senior when this song came out. I still marvel at the incredible music of the late sixties and seventies. Such a lucky time to be alive….never grows old.
Qu'est-ce j aie pu danser sur cette chanson cette musique que j'adore toujours trop géniale je l écoute et je me revoir m éclater sur cette musique
They are simply legends. This song is iconic. Thank you Deep Purple!
One of the greatest songs in the history of Rock!
Yes thats right !!!!
THE greatest
Yes. Most definitely. It has stood the test of time. That song contains everything that will make you want to move and dance!
Still my favorite song.
That’s exactly what I was going to write! And a great story song.
Jon Lord's electric organ is so under rated in this song. Blackmore's guitar is great but the organ played through the Marshall stack gives this song it's true signature sound.
Without doubt. Blackmore-Lord was an unbeatable combo.
richie's guitar has a rainbow
True, although I sometimes get the impression that John Lord is not always playing 0 3 5 .
agree on the organ!
Hats off to Jon Lord for the Hammond thru the Marshall tone we all love to this day. RI P
The National Anthem of the 70s
i cannot stop watching this. it never EVER gets old.
Deep Purple is the BEST in the Rock and Roll .....Great time to be a teenager with great groups in the 70's . Great song "Smoke on the water" 🎼🎼❤️❤️
MGeorgete Cardoso I blame Partridge Family songs turning me into Rock n Roll freak. I called Mick Jagger ( A ROOSTER ON ACID ) cause his energy on stage. Did you know about Woodstock is doing a 50th Anniversery at Watkins Glen race track in New York in August.
Led Zeppelin is above Deep Purple 😉
The best rock
Hell yea
Best ever
Oh god I love hearing Lord's infectious keyboard. You never realize how crucial keyboard is in metal or rock music until you listen to a song without it. Obviously a song that normally has keyboard. Deep Purple wouldn't sound the same without Lord's playing. We need more metal keyboard players.
Heard that. First thing that came to my mind when I clicked on this. I have seen Deep Purple live, more than once, and Lords was always someone we got to look forward to.
Jon Lord! So insanely crucial on "Perfect Strangers"! kzhead.info/sun/daVteaWofnd5dXk/bejne.html
That incredible voice! It mesmerized me back in the early seventies and still mesmerizes me today! One of the all-time greats.
Gillan used to be amazing singer no doubt but definitely not on this song. His vocals on this song are mostly kinda annoying, except for the choruses.
His vocals are strong, controlled and OUTSTANDING! Beautiful just beautiful! Damn good looking man, too!💕
It's one of those cases of a truly under-appreciated or underrated singer.
One of the greatest bass line in the history of rock! 🤘🔥
And yet hardly anyone gets it right... Roger Glover was a master!
@@timnewman1172 Yes!
Imagine all the beginner guitarists who wouldn’t know anything if somebody hadn’t burned down a building
now imagine all the guitarists who've played it totally wrong over the past several decades without access to relatively high quality footage on youtube they can slow down, pause, and rewind over and over
Can someone explain what he means?, What happened with burning building?
Omar Khayyam the song was written after a guy shot a flare gun on the ceiling of a casino, causing a fire
@@rykersantiago933 yeah thank I did some googling and found out, very interesting story lol.

Absolutely awesome how music is such an international thing, your story sounds just like what my father, from the American state of Michigan, said about his exposure to metal, but you are from so far away. Absolutely amazing thing, music truly unites all
My uncle introduced me to Deep Purple when I was a kid around 1973. This song blew my little mind... and I've been a huge fan ever since! Full circle now my kid loves it too! Their Live In Concert dvd (72/73) has this on it.
The greatest Jon Lord, RIP! You had all the talent. Still love you brother and it was a great speech.
Дым над водой, и огонь в небе... слушаю Deep Purple с 69 года. Old Russian man, 65 years old, Gillan is the best...
Gillan The Best of The Best! 👍👍👍💜💜💜
The greatest riff in rock history. You youngsters out there, take a listen to how we used to rock back in the 70's. When you talk classic rock you talk about the 70's and Smoke On The Water is one of those classics!
Jimmy Hill real music!
Jimmy Hill My 1st album was Stormbringer. I still have it too !!
Jimmy Hill Hell yeah !!!
This riff set a direction for rock where to go :)
Jimmy Hill: hell yeah! But recent times it is consider heavy metal. So many good ones! The past is good; horizons are still moving on Check out AVENGED7FOLD. Their newest is Runaway song. The video is awesome! ENJOY this song; great song.
I had this album when I was a teenager. Deep Purple was one of a kind .
I smoked a lot of cannabis to this album, and cleaned a lot of it on it's cover...
1st record I ever bought! Machine head. Awesome 😎
One of my favorite bands saw them in 1973 at cloverleaf speedway in Cleveland Ohio. Over an hour late fans so restless they had fires all over and it got really really scary m-80’s started going off. Was frightened someone would seriously get hurt. They showed up and delivered and i mean DELIVERED! My ears rang for three days afterword. Etched in my memory forever🙏🙏🙏
The gods of rock music.
this live version sounds better than the original version One of the greatest songs in the history of Rock!
Agreed, and I mostly only listen to studio versions of my favourites, except for Velvet Underground, Patti Smith etc.
@@apokryphos117g Generally, but for example kzhead.info/sun/a7GumKqwmIZtrac/bejne.html is a way better than the studio version.
Disagree. Album versions are tweaked to perfection. I'll take that anyday over any live version
@@apokryphos117g I recommend you add Nightwish to that list.
Tommy and ritchie riffean diferente
Amazing how their live versions are always better than the studio ones!
It's logically enough. The soul of the music dies when you record takes over and over and over...
@@icallyournames not only that but it has to be perfect it's a your official record it has to be perfect. When it's live you can go crazy.
That's sad that that comes as a surprise
The version on "Made in Japan" is stellar!
A perfect example is Highway star. The album version is already great but the Made In Japan live album version is just A MASTERPIECE

Back when talent mattered. Machine Head was the first Rock LP that I owned. Played it to death!
Blown away. Ian screaming at the top of his lungs , great riff. Great band great song.
Back when ROCK N ROLL was real...love you !!! xoxo
I saw them in concert in the early 70’s. What I remember most is that my GF and future wife fell asleep during the concert. Yes, I still married her. Go figure. And still married.
Jon Lord was the best with his organ. Love the way he rocks it.🎶
I dont know how I survived my youth driving around drinking and blasting this song on 8 track in my camaro..thank God I did..I sure miss the ole music..❤

…Smoke from tires I’m not slowing down….
"Highway Star" might make ya go a bit faster, possibly.....
As a teen in the 80s this song was well known and the Purple were a legend. I thank them for regrouping and giving us the Perfect Strangers gem. So much talent.
This song is timeless. 🎶
What a great voice - I love this man, I love this band❣️❣️❣️❣️
Ritchie just created the most iconic riff ever
I read somewhere that the riff was the idea of Paice and it grew from there?
@@rebelrouser184 the riff came from a Brazilian music called "maria moita " composed by Carlos lyra
@13traaa there's a video of Blackmore telling thendtory of how he came up with it. It's Beethovens 5th backwards.

Nothing against Glenn Hughes & David Coverdale, but this version of the band is still my favorite. Ian Gillan was born a rock god. Love his voice
amen
Me too
rock *god* no pun intended
I think Ian Gillan's musicianship comes out in this and in a live recording of Child In Time. Hand cupped to his ear because he wants to be on pitch, and he succeeds. One of the few musicians that come to mind who can both sing in tune and scream in tune.
They need Hughes and Coverdale's vocals to replace one Ian Gillan
What a cooperative audience; No drugs, just pure concentration of one of the most formidable bands before them!
lol. No drugs. Hahahaha. Oh man. Good one.
One of the iconic live performances, never ever bettered, fantastic

The best recording of Smoke on the Water.
I happened to score a ticket at the last moment in '73 to see Deep Purple in Vancouver B.C. This was about the same time as this video. I walked out a changed person, from then on it was every Deep Purple album. I can still play most of the Live In Japan album and still have my original copy, very well worn. I've had it in every form up to CD. Blackmore's guitar playing changed my life, I got to tour with my own band, we never made it anywhere, but we had a damned fine time trying.
Мне скоро 60 ,но эти песни услышал еще в юности и больше никогда не забывал.
Ian Gillan is the most underrated handsome man😍😍

Can you imagine being on stage while Richie is playing at this moment? Incredible
Fantastic live version !!! This is how to rock the right way !!!
Царствие небесное тебе ЛОРД....Спасибо"Deep Purple" за шедевр!!!!!!!
I saw Deep purple at the De Montfort hall , Leicester around 1973, an event that will always stay with me. Apart from music, I have a passion for Rugby Union. When I go down to Welford road to see my team, Leicester Tigers, I always get a double chill, as they play “smoke on the water” as the boys run out onto the pitch.
Have you heard The Doublejumps? you'll probably like them if you like Deep Purple

Agree, but to be fair, blackmore is abit of a dick. He had rocky relationships nearly all of the singers he worked with however all of them said despite that, their was a definite mutual respect for the mans creativity
